Mac has one of the most soulful, Americana voices of all time.
This was my dad's favorite Third Day song, and probably one of his favorite songs in general. I learned how to play it on guitar back in 2018 and he would jokingly sing along. He was a trumpet player not a singer so we'd just start laughing when he'd do so. He passed away at the age of 52 when I was only 17 back in 2021. When I'm missing him, I'll listen to this song. I know the meaning of the song is God loving us before there was time, but I also personally think of it as my dad telling me he loved me before I was born, when I was only just a half formed baby in my mother's womb. He put his faith in Christ and I know that one day when I die, I will be with my dad again finally. Thank you Mac Powell and Third Day for crafting such a beautiful song.

As a fan of Third Day since 1998, it of course broke my heart to say goodbye this summer. Going into the future, my hope for Mac, Mark, David, Tai and Brad is that in the music they make, or in this case recreate, I hope the message of the cross and Christ’s love for us doesn’t get lost. “I Will Always Love You” will always be about Christ’s enduring and everlasting love for us, His children.

Just heard them these last few months too...it was like "intravenous" from the Lord in recovery. Then the scripture "After two days will He revive us: in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight"

Travis Tritt + Chris Stapleton = Mac Powell
I've always said since hearing Mac in the early 90's that he sounds like Travis Tritt especially on the early early stuff like - "I Can't Take the Pain". And then in other songs Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jamb and I guess Chris Stapleton sounds like Mac in some ways too. I really like my eastern KY boys Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers I grew up an hour or so away and played pool tournaments in their home county. BUT, I've seen Third Day 5 times and had their first 7 or 8 CDs and they have pulled me through some tough stuff just as they are now. Third day brghtens a very dark day but I dont know about the country version of Third Day and probably never will. I'm in the mood for some "do you know who I am, have you seen the things I've done"? And then to some third day version of Bob Dillon's song "Saved"

I like the more country version of this, but any way he sings it, or anything he sings pretty much is awesome. Such an amazing voice and band is pretty great all of them with him too, cant deny they are an awesome group, but his voice is like butter & honey on toast...?? :P Err, Well smooth as butter oozing with the Holy Ghost ;)

Actually LOVE this version, thought they were already country being southern, but now I know ! There is a slight difference and it really suits Mac Powells voice, and the others play really well, rock and countdy and pop they do it all !!

This is one of my favorites.
This band is awesome!! Love these guys..I always liked bands like Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots and Sound Garden and bands like those before I became a Christian. Now that I am a Christian I let go of those old bands and so I thank God for Third day as they have a similar sound to those other bands. This song definitely has more of country sound but Mac Powell definitely has a alternative rock voice for sure. He sounds good in country too though but he sound a lot like Chris Cornell of Pearl Jam in my opinion.
