On my precious husband's 50th birthday, we were given the earth shattering diagnosis of cancer & 6 weeks later, June 19, 2021, he left his earthly home to meet Jesus in his Heavenly home. We were together for 23 years. Everyday without him here is absolutely rough & with the holidays being no exception, facing New Years has felt impossible. I sat at his graveside the other night while the clock turned us to this new year of 2022. Looking heavenward & I played a few songs, including this one. On the other side of him is the grave of my sweet baby brother, who was only 33 when he unexpectedly left his home here for his home up there. As broken & defeated as I feel, I am leaning on God’s promise through his blood, that death here is not the end, but a continued eternal journey together. A few years ago, My husband & I had the honor to hear & meet Mac Powell in Chattanooga. He is one of our favorite singers. I am thankful for the gift of music God places upon people’s lives & them heeding that call. Thankful for the hope & encouragement it not only gives my heart as I grieve, but so many others that are also needing the same.

Claude Ely, a songwriter and preacher from Virginia, describes composing the song while sick with tuberculosis in 1934 when he was twelve years old. His family prayed for his health, and in response he spontaneously performed this song. Originally recorded by Bozie Sturdivant in July 1942 (and released in 1943 as "Ain't No Grave Can Hold My Body Down") in a slower, African American gospel style and in 1946-7 by Sister Rosetta Tharpe with barrelhouse piano;[1] the song in Ely's version was recorded (and copyrighted) in 1953, even though he wrote it as early as 1935.[2]

We sang this song today at church….as soon as I got home, I searched for Mac Powell singing this. I found it and it was a blessing to my spirit! Ain’t no grave gonna me down…. My Anthem and declaration for 2023!

I don't have the editing skills but somebody out there does and I think it would work if the acoustic version from Molly was used but it has a couple of bridges that would have to go
