- What is a CT Angiogram?
A CT angiogram, also known as a computed tomography angiogram, is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses specialized X-ray technology to visualize the blood vessels in different parts of the body. It is commonly used to evaluate the blood flow and detect any abnormalities or blockages in the arteries and veins.
The advantage of performing any heart test is to either identify a particular heart problem or to know whether we have any particular heart problem. The difference between a traditional angiogram and CT Angiogram is, in Traditional Angiogram a thin flexible tube-like structure “Catheter” is inserted through the major nerves either through the hands or legs. The Catheter is then passed to the heart using special medicines which help in taking the images of the blocked blood vessels. But in a CT Angiogram, we need not pass a Catheter to get the images of the blocked blood vessels. It is a zero surgical cut procedure performed using Computed Tomography technology.
