    Great game! I find when playing one character solo that the turns fly by fairly quickly. The rules are not verbose and easy to pick up. I love how each scene feels completely different as do each of the fighters. I played a couple games with 2 characters solo and it increases play time significantly so prefer to play one fighter.

      @@OneStopCoopShopDo you still play this game? Do you have a recommended starter set? I’m looking at the new Kickstarter and there’s so many options. I’m leaning toward Rise of the Kingdom pledge with maybe a second box as an add-on.

      Hahahaha, I forgot you could see that. This had a different perspective than my other videos :)
      Yeah, I loved working designs (Lunar especially), and bought everything they ported over here. And JRPGs were and still are a love of mine, though these days I find they tend to get too obtuse in their systems. Like I don’t want to manage my friendship meter and my globetrot output and my farming mini game, dammit!

      @@OneStopCoopShop
      Yeah same here. I grew up on JRPG's of the 90's and working designs was my favorite publisher that brought games to the west, especially those on the Sega Saturn. Their translations always had a uniqueness to them. And you're right, the games today have gotten pretty out of hand with the "dating simulator" and grinding for the sake of grinding things now. Seeing that poster made me nostalgic for the good old days, haha!

    Amazing review! I'm thinking of getting this one, but I am concerned about the difficulty; I prefer difficult games in general, is this game hard enough to challenge a hard core gamer?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a bit of a tough question to answer, because the modular nature of the game makes the difficult vary wildly. If you use a weaker set of fighters, in the toughest stage, with the strongest boss, and give the boss some extra henchmen (an optional difficulty modifier), you will probably lose every time.
      But the base game, with standard options, tends to be reported as slightly easy in our Discord and elsewhere. Altar Quest has the potential for a similar issue, if you don't crank up the difficulty yourself.

    Finaly get to try out my copy and i've to say "Oohh my goood i love it !!!"
    Made few mistakes and still not sure about that rpg launcher (wich is kind of overpowered imho?)
    So quick questions here :
    Are "exhaust" and "feint" part of your main action phase and count as it, or, are those, sorts of "free actions" ?
    I tried the android app and it looks like you can use those and still activate one action from a card in play, so i guess it's correct that way ?
    About that rocket rpg launcher. Does it target everyone within the 4 spaces around the initial target including the initial target (basically, me ^^) or without it (me) and just the figurines that are around (me) the targeted fighter ?
    I guess that thematicaly, everyone, including me, are blasted away... ? :)
    Coz let's say it... a 4 dice attack +eventuals bonus from carried objectives, from any distance every 2 turns is crazy overpowered and annoying as hell ! To say the least. Even if yeah , i killed few minions this way, with no loot of course, but it still cleaning well...
    That rpg is ruining my days most of the time :)
    I guess thats it.. for now :)
    Great review ! As always, love this format, short, clear and enjoyable to watch ! Just keep them up !
    I hope that aftershock and some expensions are going to be soon on their webstore, gonna be autobuy for me !
    And for travels, i suggest you to try the app out, its really well done, even if far from the real life gaming feeling and experience.
    Cheers from belgium !

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you had it all right. Exhaust and feint are separate, "free" effects. The RPG blasts you all. Good luck!

    • @aorakis5795
      @aorakis5795 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OneStopCoopShop i also remark that, on the android app. you can split your "move" step inbetween actions.
      Do you remember the same for the boardgame ?
      For exemple in the application i can move 2, then make some action "interract - attack - etc.." and then move the remaning 1...
      I was sure i read that you can't on the boardgame, but it is strange as the two games are working exactly the same ?
      Your view on this particular point ?
      Cheers !

    I really wanted to like this game but it was problematic. The amount of phases and sub-phases makes it fiddly and choppy, it does not flow that well. Also as a design choice I would have combined the Enemy and Stage decks into a single deck/phase... That would decrease some variability (solved by just adding more decks) but it would cut the upkeep and mainly (my main complaint), it would cut the amount of doubt and rules questions one get when playing. The card language had to be made so generic in other to accommodate its combination with other decks, that there was not a single card which would not make me stop and scratch my head wondering how to reconcile one effect with another effect from another played card. And this was made worse by a pretty bad rules manual unfortunately.

    • @BradyJ.Sadler
      @BradyJ.Sadler 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for the feedback! This is the first time I've heard that we wrote a bad rulebook, as I've been fairly proud of the Street Masters rulebook and we had very little revision to do for the reprint. Sorry the game didn't hit the right buttons for you, but glad you gave it a shake :) It's still my #1 game by far.

    • @dddmmm21
      @dddmmm21 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, I've seem worse, but the rules book could be better... I can given a couple of example (my memory maybe failing me), like the concept of adjacent/engaged was made over-complicated for something so simple. Also, I think the rules should have a complete 1 page guide on how to interpret the card txt and actions with more examples, examples, examples... Took me sometime to properly understand the Feint and Exhaust for example. How to use those objective tokens was also difficult to understand. Also some cards have txt without a keyword and I did not know what to do with that (a condition, a action, just flavor txt?)... Hope this is constructive but it looked like the rules book was written and tested by people who knew the game well, so small information gaps did not become apparent as they would to a first timer like me. In summary, I had many very obvious doubts which I thought the manual could have been proactive to address. As far as the game, it is a good game clearly, people are loving it, but the multi phase, multi deck approach creates a steep learning curve for the first plays and I could not invest the time. Best

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to interpret cards and rules a few times, although usually I found out it was just me interpreting instead of reading what was there. But I hear you.

    I wonder if SFG can salvage this one as it’s live today. This game feels like Sentinels of the Multiverse with a simplistic board and dice. I feel like the board game meta has somewhat moved away from this style in the last 5 years.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it still has many ardent fans, and now that it’s with SFG it’s a lot easier to support than when it was with blacklist.
