Heya dude - must be said this is one of the best and varied top solo lists I’ve seen/read - tiny games to big games and in between with a range of themes and mechanics etc. fantastic stuff.
Great list this is one of the best top solo videos I’ve seen. Some of my top solo games are spirit island, feast for Odin, revive, ark nova and final girl. If you haven’t played revive or uwe Rosenberg games solo they fit what you want with easy to implement solo modes so I’d highly recommend them. Also I think spirit island is simpler and better to learn as a solo game. Start with one spirit and no adversary then once you get it down add things in like playing two handed. It is well worth the effort once you learn it
Thanks for the vid, you've definitely got some good suggestions which I'll be checking out. In my collection, my favourite small box solo games (with a quicker play time and less table-hogging) are: Tiny Epic Galaxies, Villages of Valeria, and Ruins of Thandar (which also needs the Hero Realms base-set). And topping of my wish-list is Paper Dungeons, One Deck Dungeon, and The Lost Village (to complete the Hero Realms solo experience). And my favourite big box solo games (that really hog the table, have longer play time, and higher complexity) are Paladins of the West Kingdom and Merchants of the Dark Road. Topping my wish-list here are some of the titles you suggested, including Hadrian's Wall, and The Ruins of Arnak. Thanks again
You put Final Girl at 3, which is great, despite your comments about luck. I feel I should say, for the benefit of those who may be on the fence about trying it, that the game gives you multiple ways to mitigate luck. The more I’ve played it the better I’ve gotten at handling the luck factor. There are still times where it can go off the rails, but not so much as when I was just playing for the first time. And, to your point, the theme is so strong, and so well implemented, that it’s the most fun game to lose that I’ve ever played. The narrative the game creates, even in a loss, is just so great!
Fascinating list, thanks! My current favourite solo games: Dune Imperium - very easy to implement as solo and feels very competitive. A Feast for Odin- smooth as Silk as a solo. Tiletum ( not at all easy to learn the soli mode, but very very good) Ark Nova- I much prefer this as solo- less stressful! Tapestry- again not too easy to pick up the solo mode for me- a bit confusing at first with unusual symbology/ but such a great way to test out different combinations. Dwellings of Everdell- Beautiful at solo & multiplayer Xia- great fun with galactic freedom to roam Isle of Cats - purrfect solo GWT Argentina/ my new hotness! Trajan/ brilliant solo and no one talks about that.
Love to hear that GWT Argentina is good. Cheap game. Great game. And if the solo mode is good even greater. I was undecided if getting it or not, as it’s a long game. My new hotness is Expeditions (Sequel to scythe) the Automa play incredibly well! Highly recommend
Warp's Edge is one of my favorite solo games. Quick set-up/teardown, good theme, interesting play. I can get lost in the puzzle of it at times. Thank you for this list! I'm always looking for more games that have strong solo modes. There is just something satisfying about the tactile experience.
Across your video online and noticed you were covering 25 games but you were doing it in Andrew half an hour so I said I can watch that it's not taken up. Part of my day is some other games like dice tower. You watch a dice tower game. You're giving away an hour of your time but you know we just skip ahead on that then skip ahead. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for covering so much territory in in such a little time
The fact that you've played Pandemic: The Cure 30 or so times and only beat it 3 or 4 times tells me it's a good game. You rarely win, but you have so much fun playing that you don't mind losing basically everytime. I'll have to grab it!
Hi Shane, I agree with you about the visitor cards in Viticulture, I Love that there are ways to win without making wine. And I finally got to try Hadrian's Wall on BGA, I can see how addictive it can be!
The LOOP has a pretty solid solo mode, too. Paperback Aventures and Black Sonata are a couple of my personal favorites, and I've really enjoyed how Nightweave enhanced the solo mode for Everdell. Highly recommend!
Arkham Horror LCG is up near the top for me. Such a great mechanical puzzle and narrative experience! Dune: Imperium is phenomenal solo. It simulates 2 other players very well and I can get a game done in 45-60 minutes.
this was an awesome list! I would have just added Black Sonata there somewhere, warp's edge is another real good one ;) ...ooh! also Marquis! and in more recent releases, I strongly recommend Conservas 😊
It seems like we have similar tastes, Thanks for your list. You might enjoy Set A Watch, I don’t know why people don’t talk about it more, it can play up to four, but I have only played it solo. It is one of my very favorite solo plays!
Out of your list I only have Lost Ruins of Arnak and Final Girl, both really good picks! In my collection I also play Oak, Rococo Deluxe, Raiders of Scythia, Obsession, and Keep the Heroes Out in solo the most. Thanks for sharing!
I see you're into heavier games, so I would definitively recommend Nemesis in solo. Extremely difficult, also a bit luck dependent but very thematic. This game is not about winning, but about fighting and trying to survive against all odds... And believe me, the odds are against you :) Forever the nr1 in my collection.
Great list! A lot of cross-over with mine, My number one is Arnak, especially with the first expansion, I want to star the campaign soon form the second one.
That is an awesome list. A couple new games I've been really enjoying solo are Wither the Old World, For Northwood, and Resist. I've also playing a little Doctor Who: time of the Daleks solo, but I don't think its really meant to be a solo game
great list! i’ll be checking out a few. Meantime, I’m enjoying Woodcraft solo quite a lot, and Architects of the West Kingdom with the Works of Wonder expansion.
I love Marvel Champions! Two-handed plays offer more variety but take a bit more time. Can get pricey with all the expansions though, but I want all the cards. Any favorite heroes?
In no particular order, here are my top solo games at the moment: The LOOP Turing Machine Cascadia Sprawlopolis Spirit Island FUSE Isle of Cats Obsession Terraforming Mars Ares Expedition Railroad Ink Challenge
Have you played the Hadrian’s Wall campaign? If so I’d be curious to hear how far you are. It’s my most played game of the year and I’m still on Fort 7 or 8 😅
Pavlov's House is a good solo game that recreates a real historic battle. It's my only "war game", but it plays like most other mainstream games, not too complicated. Also a little pricey, and the 2 and 3 player variants are not worth playing, but I like the solo experience.
Great list! You didn't mention if you played Ark Nova solo with the vanilla solo mode or with the ARNO automa? I much prefer the latter, but I'd love to hear your preference.
Thanks for the list. Awhile back on an earlier video, your current #4 was recommended highly, as well. I obtained it and really enjoyed my plays of it. Have you tried its “Fountain of Youth” expansion, yet?
I'm surprised that you didn't include any solo war-games on the list. "The Hunters", "The Hunted", and "Silent Victory" are excellent games. I'm also surprised that the game "Mage Knight" didn't make the list.
Thank you for this interesting video. I would like to add some games that are great to play solo : Nemesis Arkham Horror the card game Legendary Encounters Alien Hero Realms Warp's Edge Tiny Epic Zombies Tiny Epic Defenders Space Hulk Space Marine Adventures Some other gales with my own house rules for solo play : Caylus Magna Carta King of Tokyo Point City 18 Minutes for an Empire Legend
You should check out Rolling Realms (with promos), Coffee Roasters, Super Skill Pinball 4 Cade, and especially Keystone North America. All great solos I'd highly recommend. Great list! I'm going to check out Lost Expeditions, totally tabled had it as their #1 solo and your #3 so it seems like a good bet.
This was a great list! I actually have quite a few of these and love the solo mode on them. I really need to play Marvel Champions again. I haven't played it in a few months.
Final Girl looks okay, but its just Hostage Negotiator with a new theme. Hostage Negotiator just gathered dust. My most played, and favorite solo game is Fields of Fire (by a country mile - its that good), followed by LofR LCG.
Final Girl is much better than Hostage Negotiator - moving around on a board is very strategic - you have more luck mitigation - better replayability combining the map the villain and your final girl
Couldn't agree more on Marvel Champions. Prefer it to Akham & LOTR becuase of the superior deck cycling and lack of a chaos bag. I would put Scythe / Fenris, Too Many Bones, Robinson Crusoe, Warhammer Quest in top 10. Also Viticulture with Tuscany is a top 10. Thanks
@@Hurlibutz I don't think I had a chance to play through it yet when I made this list. It would've at least been close to making the list if I redid it today.
Wow..great list..just.subscribed..new to the hobby , but have 4 or 5 of these and live them also..will def check out others..also appreciate that you didnt pick a bunch of expensive games thatbi will never buy
An interesting list. I would have bet that The Witcher Old World and Distilled would have been in the top 25. Both are solid games and easy to play solo. Take care
You keep having on your top games lists lots of games I also love but I don't think I've ever heard you mention Spirit Island. Have you tried it? It's my favorite game.
I have played Spirit Island only twice and both were years apart. I wasn't really sure what was going on either time. I'll have to get it and read through the rulebook myself one of these days.
@@TheBoardMeeting it's probably not the first time someone recommends it to you, but given your tastes I very highly recommend it. I was taught the game by my brother-in-law so I never opened the rulebook but I've heard that it's very hard to learn with the rulebook. I usually prefer rulebooks to videos but for this game, you might be better off watching how to play videos it seems.
No uwe games?! I really like fields of Arle, a feast for Oden, Nusfjord, Glass Road, and lately Agricola. The solo for all of these is easy to implement.
I miss the more heavy solo games at your list ... games like Kingdom Death : Monster, Aeon Trespass O., Robinson Crusoe, This war of mine, 7th Continent, Scythe, Nemesis, Spirit Island, Eldritch Horror, Tainted Grail, Etherfields, Mage Knights, Oathsworn, ISS Vanguard, Roots or Oath ...
I like Marvel Champions most with 3 Heroes. And usually we are 3 players, sometimes 4. But I actually prefer Sentinels of the Multiverse, especially „Solo“.
I've played Dune Imperium solo a few times. I just received my Too Many Bones kickstarter last month and I'm just trying to motivate myself to learn it soon.
Good list! I think I’d add Onirim, Friday, Super Mega Lucky Box, Lands of Galzyr, Choose Your Own Adventure, The Isofarian Guard and Roll Player Adventures.

Woah, I've never tried Xia solo. Does it have special rules for Solo in the rulebook, or did you just make up rules?
Warp's Edge is one of my favorite solo games. Quick set-up/teardown, good theme, interesting play. I can get lost in the puzzle of it at times.

Lord of the Rings LCG for me

One of my best solo games that you didn't mention is Nemo's War (second edition).
It's so immersive and adventurous.
I came for the solo board game list, I stayed for the UND hockey jersey!!!

Hmmm off the top of my head Ant Man has been up there since his release.
Dr Strange... probably one of the best true solo heroes

The LOOP

Cascadia
Sprawlopolis

I have not delved much into the world of war games. Mage Knight is one I also haven't tried and am not sure I ever will.
My favorite solo game of all time is Dwellings of Eldervale.
It's a good choice. It's one of my all time favorite games.
I would add Aeon's End and Sub Terra I to your list!
thx for the vid!
I played through Aeons End Legacy solo and it was a fantastic experience

Nemesis

Caylus Magna Carta
King of Tokyo
