    Absolutely, and with the installation of Nortshores, ramps, berms etc in addition to the natural mountainous terrains that a lot of trail designers incorporate, ALL aspects of mountain-biking is covered and adds that X-Factor fun!

    I got into MTBing after I won my first mountain bike (a MIELE Cr Mo frame with extra beefy Ambrosia rims) about 30 years ago. Started by taking it out on local bike paths then progressed to single track trails. Have been enjoying the sport ever since and get out almost every day now that I am retired. Bought my first fat bike this year so that I can ride year round. Something surreal about riding your bike through snow covered trails while listening to Bob Marley on my headphones :)

      Ben. There was not much water, maybe six inches. Fortunately I rotated in the air just enough to land flat on my back and that was enough surface area to displace the water, slow me down and prevent me from hitting the rocks below. Bike did the same, landed on its side beside me. The drop was around 15 feet. It could have gone all kinds of wrong. Thanks for the comments :D

    There was an option missing in the last Poll: Time! EVERY kid born in the 80´s had a MTB in the 90´s. We were shredding the local areas of whereever we lived on our hardtails like Giant Terrago, Boulder or what ever. Suspension got much better at this time. Having a Rock Shox Judy was sooo cool. Oh it was a good time to grow up.

  • @Munchkinross
    @Munchkinross 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I missed the pole on how did I get into MTB. So I'll just answer here.
    I've always wanted to!
    When I was a kid, I grew up poor and raise by my single my mother, and the only toy I really had in those days was a mini BMX. So I rode it a lot, and broke it in pieces a lot too (my mother made friends with a welder). As I got older I got a normal sized BMX, but it got stolen when I was about 16 when I left it parked at the tennis court while playing a tournament. And never rode again until over 20 years later when my ex left me. Guess I finally had some money for myself, so I bought a mountain bike (I have 2 now), guess that's my midlife crisis toy, but I love it and reminds my just how great riding is!

    Poll Answer.. yes and no. I learned to ride in the early 90's doing downhill @Northstar in California. Having now moved to Texas there are no traditional bike parks and the riding is more real. With the bike parks being the focus of a lot of videos people forget about the non-bike park mountain biking that I feel is more real. Both are mountain biking but for different people.

    As long as you're riding some kind of dirt trail (not asphalt, preferably not gravel) you're mountain biking imho. Doesn't matter if you're not on an actual mountain as some people think. Trail infrastructure and features are fine but I draw the line when I see people riding purpose built skills courses in urban areas or basically BMX on bigger bikes with bigger features.

    What's better about 4 pot breaks? Why not just make the 2 pot bigger? Is the master cylinder bigger on a 4 pot?

    Lift parks are 1000% mountain biking. At nearly any park you have massive DH jump lines, off property cross country trails, and everything in between so there's something for every rider. It's a nice opportunity to progress your skills as you can do dozens of runs a day and not waste energy on the uphill.

    My wife confiscated my road bike after a big hit last year (know how you feel Neil) ... Now I just trail ride 3 times a week :D - I think the logic is dirt is softer than metal and concrete
