You really can not compare the two. Chris was slapped on live TV by an actor who was applauded by most the audience after doing so. Dave was attacked by a crazed fan who was immediately stomped out by other people so that Dave can continue the show. I think part of Chris's shock was him looking back at the audience to see them basically approving of Will Smith's actions as if it was okay and I kind of understand him not having much reaction. Because if they're acting like Will was in the right, what is Chris supposed to do go down there and try to beat the s*** out of Will so that Chris could get carried out by the cops, because the academy apparently was not going to do s*** to Will.

Chappelle got Rock’s precedent to think what he would do if anything similar happened to him. Besides that, the attacker was unknown, contrary to Will Smith, one of the contenders that night. Also, the unknown attacker fell before Chappelle did so Chappelle didn’t lose face. And, a small crowd rushed to aid Chappelle, whereas Rock was abandoned by the organizers and the audience.

The Chris slap and and Chappelle attack can't even be compared. Different types of venues. Chappelle had security, who rush and chased and beat the guy down. Chris was all alone and still saved the show. Why are you guys even comparing. He needs to take his time and let it come out when he's ready. Everybody's going to want to see a Chris special talking about the incident whenever he does it. Even if it takes a year, ppl will still want to see it. Show Chris some respect. He deserves it.

How? Chapelle got rushed by some unknown person who had a weapon. Will Smith was aggressive and sporadic but he slapped him, didn’t tackle or try to have full combat.
The comparison is simple, comedians being attacked for their remarks on stage. Yes they aren't the same scenarios, but the same in terms of violence over words.
Will Smith is a multi-millionaire with lots of famous celebrity friends. Actually Will and Chris use to be very cordial back in the day to each other. Chris appeared on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air playing both a brother and sister. They even attended the kids choice awards with their children in the early 2000 as well. Everybody can't do what Will do, Will got a whole lot of pull, they don't because their non-celebrities.
Obviously they didn't watch it in full cause dave definitely went off stage and stomped the dude. As he should have.

Chris Rock got attacked at the Grammys.... live television...... that he’s invited to bc of his presence in Hollywood and television. He wasn’t at one of his shows and had to think about his actions and STILL does if he wants to keep his place in Hollywood. He was also the first one to get attacked so it was a shock.
Dave doesn’t answer to Hollywood and has always been known for going past the line that others stop at, which is part of why we love and respect him. He’s also had time to think about how he would handle the same situation that he watched Chris go through, also wasn’t on live television. He was at HIS show, in front of HIS crowd.
This is a weird ass view to act like the situations were the same. It’s more of a slap in Will Smiths face that Chris DIDNT use it to make money. He doesn’t even need the clout bc he’s built his empire HIS way.

Also there were very little legal ramifications for these attacks. No charges were filed against Will Smith and this new guy only got a couple misdemeanors. The precedence of their being little to no consequences has been set.
