I wanted to add in case anyone from the company sees this, that the In-N-Out employee that was working at the replica on Saturday when we visited was fantastic. She was really knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

That company store was amazing! Some of those items they sell are pretty creative. I’m surprised you didn’t mention anything about the Bible verses on the cups and place mats. Or is it Chick-Fil-A that does that? The crossed palm trees fact was interesting. I didn’t know that was from a movie. Another great video!

Thank you. In-N-Out does the bible verses. I didn't even think about it when we got the food we were so hungry. That didn't start until the late 70s/early 80s when one of the sons took over.

That was the In-N-Out of my high school years, middle 70s. There were picnic tables with a metal awning that backed up to the freeway. A few years later I worked in Baldwin Park as a fireman so it was back to store #1 for a snack after a fire.

Yet another great FUN post! I got a real kick out of the sign saying "No Delay"! Hahahaha! Try that at the Mira Mesa location! :-o The place is so popular that the drive-thru by itself jambs up a big mall parking lot. Sure tastes great. Learning about the reference to Mad Mad World is a big bonus for me. "It's a big W I tell ya!" I know what I am eating later today. Thanks for your unique spin Mr. Adventures!

Some years ago watched an episode of Huell Howser’s California ‘s Gold where he visited the replica In n Out and the University, gift store, and restaurant. @@SidetrackAdventures You can find the Ca Gold episode on Chapman college’s web site. CA Gold episode #146. Originally broadcast May 31, 2010. After he died his video archive was donated to Chapman College in Orange. Ca Gold is archived on their web site and available to watch. The college has a Huell Howser museum on Campus, too. California’s Gold continues to be shown on KCET in LA. i’m starting to think that I saw that episode after he died. After rewatching that episode on Chapman’s web site, company reps were discussing with Huell wanting to create a replica of the original, I consulted my husband after bringing this up if he remembered seeing the replica on the north side of the freeway, and he distinctly remembers seeing it. So, to sum it up, The original 2010 episode discussed the idea of creating a replica of the original In N Out and eventually they did because I did see. When exactly, I don’t know,

Back in the 80's, someone gave me about 25 In-N-Out bumper stickers and I took them home. My oldest son had seen people modiy them to say "In-N-Out urge. He modified several to sat "In-N-_Out Burrito" and put one on the bumper of my work truck. I drove around with it and one day a guy approached me and said, " Oh! They sell burritos too?" I laughed and told him it was created by my son. He had done such a good job, you couldn't see the mods unless you got really close and looked carefully. I miss my son. I first heard of In-N-Out while still living at home in Imperial, CA, in the 1980's. Saw their bumper stickers a lot in those days, but back then they hadn't expanded much outside LA County. It wasn't until 1990 that I finally ate at an In-N-Out (I had started attending Cal Poly Pomona at the time), and I was hooked. I visited their store in Diamond Bar fairly regularly while I was in school, and became a lifelong fan. My usual order is a Double Double, animal style.

The movie "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World" was indeed his guiding influence, and he wanted to put up "Big Ws.", but supposedly, the movie studio wouldn't allow it. I call total BS on this (if even true) because, seriously, how can a studio prevent someone from planting palm trees that just happen to form a "W"? I would be interested to find whether the above is true, but it seems strange to love the film so much yet not plant the palms as a big W.

It’s interesting to note that, in addition to having so many employees at work, In-n-Out employees have always been paid better than almost any other fast-food chain, plus benefits that most don’t offer. They’re paid better, they’re treated better, and encountering a rude- or grumpy In n Out employee is unheard of. Likewise, complaints by employees are very rare, and are usually revealed to be fraudulent.

see the size of that store? the real genius behind IN/N/OUT was leasing the pie shaped land that was right off a freeway onramp, and you could see the signage from miles up the freeway. No one else had a use for that land. you swung off the freeway , then turned immediately into the driveway and drove between two bldgs. no bigger than an outhouse! one for prep, one for orders, preparing and cooking.
