Heyaaaaa!!!! So I tried to use most of the comments in this vid that people suggested last cutting video. I really really super mega massively want to thank everyone who shared their tile saw rock cutting knowledge not just with me but with all of us on here. It’s a great example of how this channel is not only mine but it’s all of ours. Thank you for helping all of us! Have an amazing weekend and I will try and reply to all the comments through the week! Much love to all of y’all! Oh! Also, if you see anything else I should mention, let me know, I’m all ears and love learning!
420FlowerPower Ah yeah I’ve heard this also, I think it’s used in the bigger saws that have a hood so the oils are caught and contained in the bottom reservoir. But I reckon it would be a great lubricator for sure! 👍
Rookie Rockhounding Soap and liquid soap will make bubbles, not good. You don't need any additive for the water in a tile saw because you don't recycle the water, it's topped up. If you find yourself needing a coolant on a bigger saw use any one of the water soluble mineral /cutting fluid that's diluting @ usually 1 part fluid 4 parts water, no bubbles.
A neighbor of mine died of lung cancer because he spent his career working with masonry. He was a Mormon that never smoked, so you don’t mess with the dust. Glad to see you take that seriously.
They spin a little bit faster so the danger is increased. But they make lapidary blades specifically for tile saws now. So it is getting better as the lapidary world is growing.
Thank you for showing the continuous blade. I have watched several rock cutting vids and often see people putting their fingers sooooo close! I often wondered why they still have all their fingers perfectly intact. I feel much better now. I thought they were crazy risk takers. LOL
Hey bro I just wanted to say I love how you use social media the right way. Your reason for not giving names out to protect them is amazing. No one likes a troll.
You're a kind hearted man. Thanks for the tips. I'm going to buy a tile saw to cut my agates. I just went rockhounding in South Dakota, USA and found several hundred!
Thanks for these tips. I’ve been looking for a saw to cut some rocks down to carve them but all the lapidary saws are so flippin’ expensive! It’s good to know this kind of saw will work, a cheaper alternative. I’m a beginner in the rock world too, so thanks for helping me out!
The other benefit of turning the tile cutter around so the water doesn't soak you, is that anyone with fear of the blade & their stone becoming a projectile, the stone would fly away from them rather than into them with the cutter oriented like this 👍 Huge kudos for the PPE efforts; no one has ever had regrets for taking too much care or precautions to safe guard their health & safety while with the reverse, it might not just be regrets but a far heavier impact that can't be undone so easily.
I bought a tile saw at goodwill for $25. I've seen them at other resale shops and flea markets, too. I don't know how much it costs to rent one, so maybe it's cheaper than buying resale.
I live in the Pacific Northwest. I've been finding interesting rocks while walking Jax my Australian Shepherd in the Taiga forest. Most stones I find were rough polished by ice age glacier flow I think. Thank you for the cutting tips. I'm going to try cutting. Most stones I find are harder than steel, and very heavy. Many colors.
Thank you for providing the tips. This is a tremendously fun hobby, but being respectful of all the dangers involved is an imperative. It’s not easy to overcome some of the outcomes (silicosis). Have fun and be safe rockers!
Good on you for the safety reminder, hopefully the rest of your viewers who are new to the cutting part of the rock collecting hobby! Can't wait to see your next trip!
I LOVE this video so far; I’m a rockhound with an overflow pile of “when I can afford a lapidary saw” rocks/agates and geodes. Now I know I don’t have to save up for as long as it took these rocks to form 😅. Anyway…I just have to add that when you were demonstrating how the blade wouldn’t cut your finger (right after cutting the red brick about 6 minutes in), it looked like bits of blood and tissue scattered…ah, the irony 😂😂😂
Maaaaaan. Just found your videos a few weeks ago. Feel like I was late to TH-cam's dopest party. Just got my tile saw today and I just wanted you to know you were the sole reason I decided to go through with it. Your videos have reinvigorated my interest and knowing you started with just about the same knowledge as me gives me courage. Lol. Thanks a million brother.
I’m glad to see you are focusing so well on safety. True story, my oldest great uncle was supposed to inherit the family marble works, his younger brother threw a fire cracker at him when they were kids, rendering the elder brother part deaf and blind. The younger inherited the business, and the family wealth while the older brother became a marble worker in the company and died from lung disease the doctors said was due to the marble dust.
This guy is so warm lovely . I was never into rocks but man this guy really made me take some interest in it . I wish i had found this channel earlier . God bless . Love from Bangladesh ❤️🇧🇩❤️
Hell yeah brother! Those tips just answered some questions I was going to ask and already have asked in previous videos, thanks for this video. I never thought about the dust and mask, or water shooting away from you, and the red brick trick is very helpful. Smart community here, thanks everyone!
Another great video Rook. Glad to see you cut from the other side of the saw. Since this is a feed back(tips) themed video, I wanted to address tumbling to you and your other followers in search of opinions. I have only hunted streams and shorelines as of yet and my keepers have been somewhat tumbled by nature. I find that 3 or 4 days in rough grit look good to me so on to stage 2. A few days later they look good enough to polish so I skipped stage 3 altogether this time and went into polish mode. This is the only stage I think was overly rushed(1 week). Then a quick burnish. I am saving my grit because I know(think) it is still viable and will reuse it with a dash of new grit next tumble. All and all I am pleased with the results but feel unsure if my whole process was overly rushed. You all that tumble can probably relate to the anticipation, eh? Anyways, I put this out there to you and anyone else who hopes to share info on the subject and any other video makers to whom I could subscribe. I hope this post was not infringing on your video as it was put to you primarily. In other words, I want to see some of your pretties all polished up! (LOL). BTW, I use a Harbor Freight dual 3 LB. tumbler. Before you all laugh at me, let me point out I bought the extended warrantee. It gave up the ghost after 2 months and I got a new one no problem and the warrantee (2 year) kicked in again. I do think the new one will quit as well in time but oh well, they will just give me a new one. They didn't even ask for 1 of the barrels back that remained mysteriously in the bed of my truck. Sorry this is so long winded, Jesse. Put on Boy George(I'll tumble for ya) and get busy! Take care ma man.
Hey mark! Thanks for the message, I use a Lortone 3A, and have really enjoyed it so much. I ran out of grit from the last tumble video I made and only recently just was able to get a new shipment so I’m chompin at the bit to start again!!!! I’m trying to shape some and cut some on the saw so that their differing shapes for this time. As every other time I’ve tumbled they’ve been natural in shape. I usually try and push each round out past a week but I’m still always learning and experimenting as I go. There’s a few tumbling videos earlier on in my videos. Happy hounding and tumbling mate!
Another fun fact from Kentucky: I just got my first wet table tile saw. I’m so excited to use it to cut open some of my cool rock finds! Thanks for your video, it was a very big help to me!
Thanks to your video and guidance I finally found the courage to get a saw!!!! I can't believe how easy it is! I have only cut a couple so far but can't wait to do more. Thanks!!!
You are fascinating to watch & exactly the info I need.👌🏼 I consider myself a very amateur rockhounder. I live in Arizona, so there’s a plethora of different stones & minerals. Growing up in SoCal, I LOVE collecting shells, sea glass & cool stones. THIS is my new outlet & reprieve.🙏🏼 I’ve found fire agates, Native American tools, fossils, opals, Jaspers, Agates, etc. Many of other specimens I have no idea (& I have like 12 books 😆). I design & create jewelry. So I plan on using special pieces for pendants &/or focal beads. Anyway, my ADD is kicking in (sorry 🤷🏼♀️). Your awesome Aussie Rock Dude (my nickname for you)! I really appreciate everything you post. Blessings from AZ, USA 🇺🇸😁
Aye dude! Man I am an ADD (adult diagnosed) guy as well! Haha! Never be sorry ans man I love the nickname! Haha! Ps I was actually born in SoCal in OC. But moved over here when I was 5 so I lost the American accent. Thanks for the rad comment mate and hope to see you on here again soon my brother!!!
My tip is to "Build a wooden sled" and glue or clamp your rocks to it, instead of free handing... Hot glue or dop wax woks, +shims and wedges. Then, once you get a straight edge, run that against the fence like you would lumber... By having nearly perfect initial cuts, any additional lapping takes less time. Some even make their sleds include a screw mechanism so they can clamp once, then feed the material in to slice it up. Then some start playing with "how thin can you go?" game... but going as thin as 3mm is common for geodes, as they show well if translucent and thin...
Love ya, Maverick! So glad you listened to your friend about the silicosis. Your wife and children need you so take all the precautions you have to, to still enjoy your fantastic and enjoyable hobby. So happy you shared all the tips you learned. They will help anyone who enjoys this hobby. Pretty rocks, by the way. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this! I don't know why I thought I was going to be able to set the tile saw up in my garage. LOL. Guess I'll be waiting until Spring to cut my rocks outside.
Oh gosh! That’s right, over there it’s freezing. I do know of one guy who does it in his bathtub... haha! Not that I’m suggesting that, but it could work. It could also get very very messy? 🤔😬
One thing I have noticed is the generosity of the community of rockhounding. Everyone I have talked with are so eager to help you to get started. Amazing group of people. Some amazing samples you have there. Good hunting!!
Thanks for passing along the cool rock cutting tips and tricks to us tubers and for the post in general RR! Safety first right Rookie (eyes, ears, lungs and farther south as required), just cause you look like the carving on the side of the mayan temples in central america doesn't make you cool, well on second thought, yeah it kinda does! ✔ RR is now a stone temple pilot! Woot~~ When I think of really good tips for cutting rocks, the primary suggestion that comes to mind also happens to remind me a lot of the kind of women i've tended to date in my years on this magical spinning globe. (Slow and Easy) Doh! 🤐 IMO it is always fun to see what's inside the stone, exposing the "heart" of it is one of my favorite pastimes so believe that I completely share in your enthusiasm for it! 👍 Like gambling but wayyy more fun and without the guilt or financial hardship~ 🤔 You truly performed some nice cuts freehand on the tile saw and I believe that it wouldn't take too much work to clean those up and set a polished flat surface. Oh wow do I ❤ the wedge piece (personally would tumble it but am curious to see where you go with it next), looks like a scene from intergalactic space! haha 😎With small end pieces and such I personally have had zero success with a vibratory lap but am guessing it could work, now if you had a nice 12-15" (30.5-38cm)spinning flat lap you could make magic or you can always cab it with a wheel setup if available or use a high speed sander with 60/80 then 120, 220, 400, 600 grit discs and take to polish on a buffing wheel, additionally, similar smaller discs are available for purchase to use with an angle grinder if that's the tool available to you and if you didn't care about the flat surface, had some time on your hands and the energy to do it, you could purchase the handheld flexible abrasive pads and work your arms to death to take it to polish. Just so many options to allow the stone to express themselves and us to be the conduit, heck the stones have only been around for millions of years and man....it feels like time is running out for them to discover their true destiny! 😒 If you listen really, really closely to the rocks in the darkest corners of the night, you might just hear the sound of a sphere machine whirring it's seductive call to you..."come to the dark side and together we will rule the galaxy!"✨ Besides sphere's are the law.👮♀️ (of the conservation of energy) Oh yeah, that thunderegg is IMO an incredible example of the way nature can surprise us! I'll agree with your assessment sir that it truly is "Spectacular" as you said! Once again, appreciate the content and your approach! Have a super week my friend~ Peace!
Heyyyyyyyy mate!!!!!!! Oh man so hilarious! Slow and easy 🤣🤣🤣 and yeah definitely one of my favourite parts of collecting these beautiful treasures. Ah yes dude the wedge piece is so pretty isn’t it, I can’t wait for the opportunity to cut the rock properly in a slab saw in order to see its full potential. Oh and spot on Shaughn!!!! That one is definitely for the tumbler, I’m working on working each stone for the tumbler that I’m doing next. 😉 I’ve got a few that I’m slowly shaping, I’ll be sharing that for sure though 👌 There is so many ways to polish out there, I’m drawn to the idea of a flat lap, and another thing where it’s a hand held orbital sander with special diamond pads at differing grits that are interchangeable. Kevin Nix uses one and it really looks like a great way of doing bigger pieces. And it’s a bit cheaper than a flat lap for now 😁 Ohhhhhhhhhhh a sphere machine!!!! Dear god that would be nuts! Like insane awesome man!!!! If I could I’d have all the machines set up in a shop just working on rocks all day long! Maybe one day hahaha! Good to hear from ya brother! I hope you’re well! Talk soon my friend!!
Rocks are like people, every single one is different and it’s not what’s on the the outside, it’s what’s inside that’s more important, thank you for the tips I’m just starting on my rock hounding journey, and for my birthday I’m hoping to get a saw so these tips are very helpful
Amazing! I’ve been collecting rocks for so long and have wanted to see the inside of them. This video gave me some confidence to give it a go. Thank you so much!
Wow! Those were some definite nice surprises inside the rocks! I think all the suggestions were darn positive. Good idea for ear, eye and respiratory protection you really don't know what may be contained within the rock and released by the cutting. Fine dust can tear up your body too. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I bought a tile saw and just finished putting the blade on! I feel much more prepared now 😁I never would have thought to cut standing behind the blade
Ohno Jodie said it right you are helping us just finished watching your video and I’m getting ready to go do my first cut you gave me confidence and I was scared of the site first thank you
Thanks. I just came across your channel ….🎉It makes me want to go out and round up some rocks in the yard that I’ve been wondering about and cut them with my tile saw!🎉
Woah dude Jack! Man thank you so much! No one’s ever given me money on here!? I really appreciate it but please know you never need to. I love interacting with you guys when I can and love making the videos for you all. Knowing you get enjoyment and reading a comment like yours is reward enough I swear. I really apreaciate it mate! Happy rock cutting dude!!!!!!!!!!!
Mate I can't get enough of your videos right now. I scored a tile Saw at a local auction for 20 bucks, found your one year of rocks video the night after I decided to have a crack at cutting my first agate with it! Crazy coincidence! Thanks heaps for these, would love to get up your way for a wander one day!
@@Rookie_Rockounding I'm down in Tassie mate. Really hoping to get up to Agate Creek one day soon. Might even take a look at coming up your way even sooner though, are there a few good public spots around the Brisbane/Gold Coast area for fossicking? I'm super into agate and the like right now, but love me any pretty rock I can pick up or dig out of the ground and wrap my hands around 😅
“Don’t be afraid if you have a continuous blade.” Love it! So what you’re saying is that red stuff on the surface where the blade is is not blood LOL good to know! You’re the best.
I know you posted this video a couple years ago but you just helped boost my confidence with the saw! I've never used a saw so I've been very afraid of hurting my fingers
Thank you so very much for teaching me how to cut my rocks!!!! Thank you 🙏

Your a good man. I’m not sure my husband would give up his Nautilus. I would steal it anyway. 😆 Speaking of stealing, I think we had some of those hammers. They have a blue handle with yellow writing on them I think. We do need one of those plastic hammers. I know what your talking about and it can definitely hurt. Ironically I’m the fire bug in the family. I built our back yard fire pit. It took me two days of digging through Hard Pan with a Pic Ax. Then I lined it with a tractor tire wheel. I’m also the one who starts the bonfires in the pasture and as a kid started all the Roman Candle fights. It’s probably a good thing those are illegal now. It was stupid but fun. I know they heat treat precious stones. I didn’t know it was a common practice for other stuff. When you talked about stabilizing stones with fire, it reminded me that there is a cave at Polkadot Mine where the Natives burned that rock for, if I remember correctly, months. That’s the stuff my daughter and I were picking up. It’s black with soot but you can see the white agate and polka dots through it. I didn’t know before last summer that they did that. I took before and after pics of my stones. For an agate it’s pretty hard stuff, stable too. Thank you for the tip about Washington. We both love going anywhere in the Cascades. The only fossils we ever find are leaf fossils. If you are ever around the Southern Idaho Oregon border, look up a place called Succor Creek Canyon. There are roads going everywhere off the main road. All the usual suspects are there Geodes, Opal, Agate, Jasper, some beautiful wood with all kinds of stuff in it, etc. We do a lot of hunting there. It’s a pretty large area. Just follow any creek bed and I guarantee you will find some stuff. And if you want to dig for the more gemmy stuff Aqua, Garnet, Smokey etc, and are in this area hit me up. I check the comment section of my TH-cam account pretty regularly. Thank you again for the advice. Rock on!
Thanks for the video! After looking for a trim saw for rocks, I felt that a wet tile saw could do the same job, and I guess I was right. Saw a bird head in one of your agates.
Wow gorgeous rocks I just started to do rock hounding/tumbling and I never though of flipping the tile saw around. thank now I don't have to get wet. when I cut my rocks
Excellent presentation! Very articulate, precise and detailed! I appreciate the time you spent in set up, to give your audience the optimum benefit. I do not currently own a tile saw but plan to buy one and I’m greatful for all your safety tips/advice! Thank You!
Silicosis is no joke. Drs tend to misdiagnose it as TB. You can be exposed with pottery work too (people sand dry or bisque pottery or even finished pottery). Only sand wet. I have a P100 mask just for pottery and for mixing up tie dye chemicals. I’m glad you wear that mask! I will pick up my new wet tile saw later today. Thanks for the tips. Omg that fugly rock is GORGEOUS on the inside. Oh. Nice beveled edge too
Well done Maverick! Lol Not sure why I missed this one too. Glad it showed up. I’m waiting for some diamond blades to come in the mail so I can do some cutting.
Fantastic, your protection of your tipsters is typical of Aussie spirit. Your presentation was awesome, knowledge coupled with experience and your appreciation of beauty was exceptional. One problem was, my wife got interested because she thought you were Matt Damon(LOL). Thank you for the sharing of knowledge and keep going mate :)
Gorgeous cuts and loved all the tips. It's so nice to see someone who gets just as excited as I do when finding a good rock. Only a rockhound knows that feeling!!
Just found you channel. I was curious about the wet saw & diamond blade. Didn't know you couldn't cut your finger off. You gave good info on it. Starting up my own rock hounding hobby. Thank you!
At 8:41- of tumbling a piece like that I use my wet saw to remove/smooth the rough outer portion. Will make tumbling go faster on that side, and it will also prevent that rough surface from scratching or gouging the other drones being tumbled. I’m pretty much a newb as well and enjoyed your video. Thanks!
Thanks for making these videos. I just started getting into this more and more this year. I have gathered quite a few buckets full of material from digging and river exploring. I’ll be purchasing a rocksaw very soon. So I can start getting some of the stuff that I’ve gathered cut. Also just got a rock Tumblr first batch is in right now.
Nice job your getting better every time I watch what your doing wish I could go picking with you I'm in the Great Pacific Northwest and we have some truly beautiful stones but nothing quite like some of what you have shown up so keep exposing all of us to your local wonders. Always a pleasure to watch you go🤙
@ there are few things I enjoy in this life more than hunting rocks, growing up with specimen hoarding wonderful old loving grandparents who also would do things like throw you on a Honda 90 and drive you across the desert for 3 or 4 hours with a crowbar and a hammer. fossils it seems fall out of my boots from time to time treat yourselves if you love agate as much as I do and combined it was clams Nautilus Coral all different sorts of unlikely sea creatures agatized crab fragments if you're incredibly lucky there are many things as for mentioned in your message so many more we can all go in for dates someone needs to get us all together somewhere and make one hell of a good book ya BOOK u herd me run and hide kids🤙 it's always good to know somewhere out there some one is as wet and dirty as me and loving every labored step with pockets full of rocks weighing you down Waring a big ol smile 🤗
@ oh please do yourself a favor and get some respiratory protection that's a serious feel I'm a boilerman by trade we deal with fine Ash in the air on a daily basis it is literally the untold killer of my industry do not many people will tell you that but if you look at the old-time stonemasons and of course the videos we obviously watching Carmen people know it will take its toll on you eventually I hope for your sake you're healthy and stay that way for a very long time also have you ever carved anything on your tile saw similar to fire agate from Arizona I have quite a bit my grandparents never got around to finishing that I was lucky enough to be around when they collected but unfortunately all their equipment went to a young geologist who worked for the University of California so I guess it's a good thing he got it it's being put to Grand you signs sure. And no I have not been to the polka. Although I have heard a little bit about it through my TH-cam travels LOL hardcore is definitely the weights be if you're into stones LOL I'm with you all the way although honestly my favorite core is actually a lack of Halo lol. I have actually become interested in checking out some of the mines in my local area recently but I've never really thought much about going to somebody else's discovery for me half of the Allure was the hunt although as I get older unfortunately I am slowing down a little bit the body doesn't give you much choice when you beat the hell out of it the way I have but I am still willing to get out there and smash and all with the best of them assuming they're not that good LOL. I'm actually one of those assholes that finds a creek full of good stuff take something not always match returns home digs out the map book get on Google Earth and literally just start transferring information find the most likely candidates topographically load up the backpack the dogs then tear off into the Wilderness for a few days trying to make my own way to a new discovery there's so many aspects of hunting that are appealing to me I'm kind of an idiot savant
@ that sounds like one hell of a good time. I love finding agatized and opalized fossils of anything but o boy is a bundle of fun when you find nachos with crabs Nautilus pine cones all kinds of strange things inside Parini pretty snails on the rare occasion absolutely gorgeous specimens of course I pack of six and a half foot crowbar with me that way is probably 40 lb LOL I am a steel whore lol and a stubborn one at that I have spent more than 6 days working on the same concretion in the past so I got a few bigger tools for a sledgehammer I now use a pin driving hammer it is amazing if you know anyone that works in an industrial setting try to get ahold of the shaft out of smaller hydraulic cylinders when they break grind the tip you desire weld nut from the backside they make wonderful chisels for almost any Rock and I also keep my grease gun size portapower on hand a man can move a load of rock lol I recently was helping one of the millerites where I work he was using a diamond impregnated steel cut off wheel on an angle grinder ask him where to get the discs as I have my own angle grinder he said I don't know have this one so I took it to my little workbench in the boiler and of course I'm a rock whore so yes I have rocks in my work locker 😁 but the disc did a good job . I just had a brain fart they're saying some of those stones don't want to polish because you believe they're too soft train varnish them with a borax mixture of some kind of maybe or you could try heat treating it's not easy for many people but it might be a good option I've done actually quite a bit of it at work it's always interesting to see what that thing barfs out when it's done
@ LOL okay I'm sure he will know what the tools are also one more suggestion for hammers a big dead blow hammer is amazing if neither one of you are sure what it is it's basically a big rubberized plastic hammer all alone sometimes beads force and bearings weird things like that but the nice thing is when you make contact on a big swing it doesn't shoot up your arm you also gain much more kinetic energy at the point of impact which is always important when you're trying to work less to gain more LOL I'm glad your husband got you a mask and yes it was actually the video we both watched and started talking over that made me think of it so quickly silicosis I believe is what he called it I'm not exactly sure although I am EMT certified and I do know anything like that going into your lungs is a very bad idea. The Kiln thing I'm really not sure about but I'm sure with a little bit of research you can find all kinds of information on heat treating stones I know they do it to Ruby's in a few other gemstones like that obviously natives around the entire world heat-treated stones for knapping arrowheads or spears knives whatever they needed which can basically be done under a multiple-day bonfire 😁👍👍 sorry I'm a boy boys like fire LOL but at any rate my favorite hammers are estwing little bit more expensive than some others but I will tell you for dang sure I use hammers on a daily basis at work the handles are nowhere near as nice there's a massive difference in the sounds and the comfortability with an estwing hammer and yes if you ever get towards the coast and decide Washington sounds like fun you and your husband need to find Raymond Washington and Google Earth a place called Green Creek it will basically be found on the side of Green Creek Road and if you bring a pick up or at least just not lowered car of some kind you can drive off the end of the road on to the logging roads with the simple discover pass you can travel all over the mountains here and find so many wonderful things and yes the Nautilus was my find of a lifetime my wife was incredibly unhappy she was not there when I found it so I gave it to her lol nothing beats it when you can make the person you love smile
Thank you so much steam power! And it’s so cool to see others get to meet like minded people on here, happy rock times you two! Thanks for the support too!!!!! 😁😁😁😁
Sue Erickson Thank you Sue, it might be overkill but at least it’s bringing attention to silicosis, it looks like a nasty disease that all rock people should know about.
I'm a fan bro. Recently bought a tumbler. Always wanted to do stuff like this. Your videos are amazing. Please please keep them coming. Love your stuff bro
Ohhhh thank you mate! I’ve got some more in the works just have had some time off but will be back soon with rad rocks and stuff 😁 happy tumbling mate!
I bought a 7 inch wet tile saw, cause I ran a masonry saw for years on construction jobs in Washington DC and in my opinion, a saw is a saw, it's the blades that give you the cuts you want. And ALWAYS wear eye and breathing protection. ALWAYS.
I found a bunch of pet wood that has pyrite in them and small opalizations in them. I love the hunt as much as the cuts. I got criticised about my shower cutting, i just used the blade that was already on the saw. Big mistake but easy fix. Love the constructive criticism.
jason genaw Oh man that sounds dope!!!!! Gonna head over to your channel and have a look man, and yeah, constructive criticism is helpful, especially if people are nice about it haha! 👌
I'm just now catching this vid,..and I love it!!!..well done!!..every rock u did is badazz!!.. especially the one with the Hulk in it!...I'm going to enjoy watching more vids!..I really liked your tour of rock hounds vid too..with all the others..I have several of you guys on my vid list.
Ok RR...perfect timing. I am so glad you are doing these videos. I just got my new saw yesterday!!! I'm so stoked! I can't wait to try out all your tips. I'm learning right along with ya. Keep em coming! 😉😁❤
Marlaina Atkins YAY!!! That’s so awesome! You wait, the first cuts are always so exciting! And also I think the biggest tip I learnt from this was the pressure on the stone. Don’t give it too much, you’ll feel the rock cutting and just sort of lightly do it. Have funnnnnnn!!!!!
Yup! Yup! Just like I always say, I have never cut into a ugly stone, some might be prettier. That's just how I see it. I hope you have a great day, and a awesome weekend.
Oooo! That one Scarlett found is cool! Looks like it was a stalactite (by the texture on both sides.! Gotta be pretty big vesicles to have those! Dang it, I'd love so much to come pick with y'all some time (my step-mom is from Texas, once in a while a little Suthern pokes out...)!!!
Ok, they're up. (It's love love kawaii by the way...my children to not want to be associated with me - too embarrassing so they made me my own account). Take a look?
Thirst Fast Hey dude! Yeah that one needed to be shown, definitely would have had a nice big space to grow inside of 😊👍 Wish we could hound together also man, it would be nuts awesome!
Hi Jesse, forgot to mention, add a little washing up liquid to the water, it helps the blade glide and keeps it cool, so your blades last longer.
I read somewhere that using mineral oil instead of water also helps with dust and keeping your blade nice.
Thank you Joseph! I’ll try that one out as well, have a greet weekend mate
420FlowerPower
Ah yeah I’ve heard this also, I think it’s used in the bigger saws that have a hood so the oils are caught and contained in the bottom reservoir. But I reckon it would be a great lubricator for sure! 👍
Rookie Rockhounding
Soap and liquid soap will make bubbles, not good.
I was going to buy an expensive gem saw machine about 1200€,
Yiu just saved me 1000€
Thanks man 👊🏻
A neighbor of mine died of lung cancer because he spent his career working with masonry. He was a Mormon that never smoked, so you don’t mess with the dust. Glad to see you take that seriously.
its always the non smokers, coach earl went the same. he'd yell in your face that he never touched a cigarette
@@babyfactory587 not quite. It's more about family history. If lung cancer is in your line, the chances go UP
Seriously you're helping most of us more than you know. Blessed Be
That’s awesome to hear, I hope it helps, thank you Jodie!
You’re motivating everyone out here to get a tile saw like you did me. If I were a tile or lapidary saw manufacturer I would sponsor you all day long.
How are you melting my heart by talking about cutting rocks? 😍😂
Thanks for the tips. Lots of great info!
Thx. Reversing the saw so you are pulling the stone is brilliant. Maybe now I won't drown myself.
Haha! It’s a game changer!
Bro, you are the most chill guy I’ve ever seen. That music, your positive attitude, this video was super relaxing.
Aye cheers mate!!!
You just need to buy a good continuous diamond saw blade that is thin.
Have been a carpenter for 30 years but have never tried cutting rock. Going to rent a tile saw to begin sawing. Appreciated the video.
I'm a beginner, and I'm learning so much from you.
Thanks 😊
Thank you for providing the tips. This is a tremendously fun hobby, but being respectful of all the dangers involved is an imperative. It’s not easy to overcome some of the outcomes (silicosis). Have fun and be safe rockers!
Good on you for the safety reminder, hopefully the rest of your viewers who are new to the cutting part of the rock collecting hobby! Can't wait to see your next trip!
Thanks backup!!! Hopefully will be able to get out there again soon. 🤞🤞🤞
🤣🤣🤣 oh god it did too!
I'm about to get my first tile saw! I'm excited and nervous. Thank you for all of you tips and lessons. You explain everything so well.
Heck yes! I love this! I hope you enjoy just how amazing these rocks can be inside 🤘
Thanks for the video. Have the same tile cutter sitting the last ten years in garage doing nothing. Now you gave me a new purpose for it.
Oh that’s awesome! It’s seriously so much fun 😁
This guy is so warm lovely . I was never into rocks but man this guy really made me take some interest in it . I wish i had found this channel earlier . God bless . Love from Bangladesh ❤️🇧🇩❤️
Thank you so much SAAT TRAVEL! I’m so glad you enjoyed. 😊😊😊
Hey thanks for the comment, did you mean this one for @steam power? Happy rockhounding goodness to you!
Another fun fact from Kentucky: I just got my first wet table tile saw. I’m so excited to use it to cut open some of my cool rock finds! Thanks for your video, it was a very big help to me!
Yeeee haaaaaw! Heck yeah Dan! Best of luck mate!!!!
hi from a fellow rockie Kentuckian 🪨
I’m in Elizabethtown, where are you?
I'd go rockhounding with ya ❤️ it's my passion!!!
I have a rock tumbler and been itching to get into it as well as more stuff to, thank you so much for this video
Thanks!
lizzymoore54
Haha! Hey Lizzy! I’m so glad someone called me Maverick 😎 haha!
Hope you have a great weekend and week ahead!
Rookie Rockhounding , you enjoy your weekend also Maverick. That's your new name for me , if this is o.k., with you. Talk to you soon.😉
Rookie Rockhounding
I knew it, I knew there was something and that's it, your a card shark.
Oh god Symon so many layers to that one! I love it! 🤣
@lizzymoore54
Hahaha! Maverick it is!
Wear safety shades for stones that get away from you and rock dust grinding on your retina.
The one rock looks like a blurry picture of a man I took a screenshot to go over it love it, thx💖🙏💯
I’ve got a few that I’m slowly shaping, I’ll be sharing that for sure though 👌
There is so many ways to polish out there, I’m drawn to the idea of a flat lap, and another thing where it’s a hand held orbital sander with special diamond pads at differing grits that are interchangeable. Kevin Nix uses one and it really looks like a great way of doing bigger pieces. And it’s a bit cheaper than a flat lap for now 😁
Ohhhhhhhhhhh a sphere machine!!!!
Thank you!
SareJen
Hey Sare! I’m glad you enjoyed it! It was a fun video to make 😁 and always good to be safe I reckon 😉
Thank you for this video! I bought a tile saw and just finished putting the blade on! I feel much more prepared now 😁I never would have thought to cut standing behind the blade
Ohno Jodie said it right you are helping us just finished watching your video and I’m getting ready to go do my first cut you gave me confidence and I was scared of the site first thank you
The one with green and blue looked like a duck nuzzling it’s head on tweety bird’s head. 😂 great video.
Thanks for sharing I'm just started tumbling but really nervous about the cutting looks intimidating. But you gave me some good suggestions.
See !! Even the beautiful bird looked at your treasures rocks is pretty cool .
I loved that I saw it looking at the rocks between filming 😍
He/she was just checkin them out 😁
Thank you... just getting started on my adventure...just got a continuous diamond blade to spin a few hrs ago 😃
Ha! That’s so awesome man! How cool is that! (Sorry for the late response bud)!!!
Happy cutting mate oh and where are you from?
Prevent PA
Hahahaha! Oh god it looks like guts all over the table 🤣🤣🤣
I know you posted this video a couple years ago but you just helped boost my confidence with the saw! I've never used a saw so I've been very afraid of hurting my fingers
That’s awesome Haley! I’m just about to head out back and do some cutting today 👍 all the best and if you’ve got any questions just ask.
Thank you so very much for teaching me how to cut my rocks!!!! Thank you 🙏
Your a good man. I’m not sure my husband would give up his Nautilus. I would steal it anyway. 😆
Speaking of stealing, I think we had some of those hammers.
Oh. Nice beveled edge too
Finally the video I’ve been looking for! Thank you so much.
Spot on perfection.
One of the stones has a duck in it love your videos crystals are SO AMAZING!!!! THANK YOU 😊😊😊
Thank you so much Michelle 😊
And yeah I didn’t see the duck until someone you and others have mentioned it, it’s so a duck!
Time stamp @ 11:08 ( You caught half of the Hulk starring back at you ) very cool and trippy! Thx for sharing!
Well done Maverick! Lol Not sure why I missed this one too. Glad it showed up. I’m waiting for some diamond blades to come in the mail so I can do some cutting.
You’re a special man.. so enjoy your productions… great job
how can I support you in continuing your positive internet experience? Got special rocks here in canada... happy to share
Continuous blade, don't be afraid!" Honesly, I was so neevous to try cutting rocks and this really put me at ease
Loved the faces in the last Thunder egg
Fantastic, your protection of your tipsters is typical of Aussie spirit. Your presentation was awesome, knowledge coupled with experience and your appreciation of beauty was exceptional. One problem was, my wife got interested because she thought you were Matt Damon(LOL). Thank you for the sharing of knowledge and keep going mate :)
Luv💖 the Visual Thrill, the anticipation in the hunt & acquiring and the satisfaction of uncovering the beauty inside. 😄💖
Loving Nature
Thank you! It’s so much fun!!! 😁🤓
Thanks so much for sharing the tips that you received. I want to try doing this as well.
Great video
Gorgeous cuts and loved all the tips. It's so nice to see someone who gets just as excited as I do when finding a good rock. Only a rockhound knows that feeling!!
Haha! Exactly! Only rockhounds know the feeling. It’s just so rewarding these beautiful treasures of nature 😉👌✨
Thanks!
From a newb, best advice Jen! Thank you! I’m learning as I go. And appreciate each bit of sharing of the knowledge that is given. Thank you 🙏
Thanks man, gotta dig my wetsaw out now! Petrified wood and Stone time..
Thank you, totally put me at ease with the little bit of first timer jitters lol. Thanks
I am glad you said flashlight after saying put a torch to it. I was thinking why does he want me to burn it.
Just in time, spring has sprung here and I'm almost ready to bust out the tile saw
Brennen Dow
Yeahhhhhh brother! Get ya cutting on! 👍
Gorgeous pieces. Thanks for the video.
Were probably going to still have snow in may here. Cant wait for summer.
@ 10:37 your looking at a duck lol. Nature is to beautiful 👍❤
I'm newer yo rocks then an watching u cut those stones got me so excited I'm gonna get a tile cutter lol any suggestions on what kind
A wealth of useful tips, thanks from a beginner.
This is so sincere! Need more of that in the world!
Fear of the blad has been stopping me from making my own cuts
This is great on tips ty
That first cut you showed looked like it had gold in it!
And the last one (fire egg) had large well formed diamond!
I really enjoyed this video, thanks for the insights.

gracie osornio
thank you Gracie! I love sharing these with people, it’s so much fun 😁👍
Sometimes the beautiful things hide their beauty within and to expose it you need to help them show the true colors by looking inside.❤️❤️❤️
It’s like a metaphor for life basically 😊
Being a retired respiratory therapist I'm glad to see you protecting your lungs!
Sue Erickson
Thank you Sue, it might be overkill but at least it’s bringing attention to silicosis, it looks like a nasty disease that all rock people should know about.
Great video, thanks for passing on those tips I would have otherwise missed!
(Pulling...of course!🤦🏻♂️)
Thanks reg!
Safety !! You are right safety come first so please do we would like to see more of you and vedios with all parts still attach..lol good luck
Haha! Thanks Gemma!

Oh man that sounds dope!!!!! Gonna head over to your channel and have a look man, and yeah, constructive criticism is helpful, especially if people are nice about it haha! 👌
Simply a wonderful channel !
Ohhhhhh! Thank you!!! You are too kind 💎🤓
Thanks dude; I was wondering about tile saws as they're cheaper than lapidary saws. Those cuts you made are acceptable for what I'm doing.
Very helpful information and great video. Thanks!
Mlani Thurston

Marlaina Atkins
YAY!!! That’s so awesome! You wait, the first cuts are always so exciting! And also I think the biggest tip I learnt from this was the pressure on the stone. Don’t give it too much, you’ll feel the rock cutting and just sort of lightly do it. Have funnnnnnn!!!!!
Beautiful rock and satisfying video . Thanks for making this video
Yup! Yup! Just like I always say, I have never cut into a ugly stone, some might be prettier. That's just how I see it.
I hope you have a great day, and a awesome weekend.

Thank you mate, have a brilliant weekend and week!!!

@@iloverocks1235 I'm on it. :)
Thirst Fast
Hey dude! Yeah that one needed to be shown, definitely would have had a nice big space to grow inside of 😊👍
