+James Dillane For some reason I can't reply directly to James' great question, so I'm posting the answer here. Yes, when I destroy an opponents units, if I have two snakes out, they both get status tokens. They share in the feast!
I mean... Woah! Is there still a channel in You Tube that does everything for the comfort and easy understanding of the audience? Great Start for a great playthrough, make more 'Ashes' playthroughs like this!
Stunning artwork for this game. I thought it was likely the same woman who did Dead of Winter. Can't wait for the play through. I feel like Rodney's deck would be useless for Luke. Luke doesn't seem to need things to mitigate the dice or card draws. That's a lot of cards taking up deck space. Good thing he can just deck build instead.
I can't wait to receive my copy of my pre-order!!!! Your bringing too much HYPE with this game Rodney lol. J/K love what you do please have your fundraiser ready soon! Can't wait for a Lucky Luke!
The only thing I find a little concerning for you is that a lot of your big abilities require that top/rare die to use. It would be concerning for Luke, if you know, he rolled like a mortal. This should be fun. It looks like a red/green weeny overrun deck vs a big creature black deck.
Hello, have you planned to make other videos like this one with the other deck? Ok it's almost 2 years old but it would be cool ... as well as fighting with the other deck ;-)
Thanks for the interest. I don't usually go back and play a game a second time, just because ther are so many games I hope to cover (so many games, so little time!)
Hello Rodney. Thanks for all the great videos. In this one, you mention that Reflections in the Water won't be particularly useful for Luke, since most of your units have inexhaustible abilities. I just wanted to clarify how Hypnotize would work in this regard. Since Hypnotize grants a unit the Bypass ability, could Luke use Reflections in the Water to nullify a units ability to use Bypass (assuming it gained it while Reflections in the Water was attached to it)?
Hey Matthew, I tend to avoid answering card ability specific questions in my videos, as it gets pretty difficult for me to keep up with all the games we've covered at that level of detail. I think this is a great question for the Plaid Hat Games Ashes forums though!
I've got a question: Do inheritance and consume effects stack? If you have a gilder and a silver snake in play, does the silver snake get two status tokens? One for inheritance and one for consume. Also, is the consume effect mandatory? That would mean that, as long as you have silver snakes in play, your deck of conjurations could thin out pretty quickly, isn't it? Thanks for the videos! They are awesome. They were the final push for me to buy the game (although a bit late to the party)
Yep, those effects can stack, but keep in mind, the Consume ability starts with "Whenever an OPPONENTS unit is destroyed.." So you'd have to be destroying one of 'their' Gilders. I hope you have a great time with the game. Two new decks just announced this week!
Thank you very much! Yeah, I just had a brainfart reading the word "ally" with it's normal significance rather than as a keyword in the game defining a type of unit.
Hey Rodney, can the Charm Magic (Reference card) spell be used as an instant (during the opponent's turn)? And if so, is it counted as a side action on the turn you just passed or the upcoming turn?
+Dick Salfischberger You can only use side actions on your own turn (keeps it simpler that way, doesn't it? :) ). There are reaction spells that you can play out of turn, but that's it.
Darren Love They will have some at Gen Con, but pre-orders are still up at their website, and will be shipping as soon as possible (which I think is pretty soon).
Re: Butterfly Monk Does the X apply when the unit is summoned? (ie: if you have 1 Summon Butterfly Ready spell, its life will be 1 and stay 1 until the unit leaves the field, even if another Summon Butterfly Monk spell is played) or does the value of X change when the number of Summon Butterfly Monk ready spells changes? (ie: you summon it while you have 1 summon butterfly monk, but later play another one, will its life increase to 2?) Hope that makes sense
Carl Frodge My guess is that the life value changes with the number of spells in play. Which would mean that if he has 3 spells in play, and a monk have 2 wounds, then by losing a spell (somehow) the monk would die, since its life now would be 2..
I dunno, that seems fiddly to me. I think it makes more sense that it's a matter of when it's summoned, but that's probably just my years of playing Yu-Gi-Oh talking.
Carl Frodge I'm fairly confident X adjusts with the current level of your summon spells in play (even for monks already on the battlefield when there were less Summons in your spell board). Otherwise, you would have to remember how many you had out at the time each was summoned, which would get hard to manage, if you had several out, that came out at various times.
Carl Frodge Rodney is correct, the Butterfly Monk's base life value is equal to the number of summon spells on your spellboard regardless of when you put that monk into play.
Well I need to learn this game quick so Ill be tuning in for it all. I do a weekly board game live stream and Ill be dedicating a whole night to Ashes!

Lyle Jackson Indeed - we don't call him Lucky Luke for nothing!

Josef Caruthers The fundraiser and the game play should launch this week - thanks so much for being interested in both Josef! I appreciate it brother!
Looking forward to watching this game being played.
Misti Cato That should launch this week (editing the first game play episode, right now :) )
***** Nice!
The art work is great! Seems like an great game.
Joe Coombs III The artist is the same as for Dead of Winter, and she is Ahhhhhh-mazing.
Love the Mice...a little nod to Mice & Mystics. :)
Thx for doing this video! Already preordered this game =D
Noctis Altura Hope you have a great time with it!
flavor text on Golden Veil is the best.

Thanks Rodney. I completely understand. I ended up asking the lead playtester and confirming this is the case.
Is it me or does Rodney's deck have a Mice and Mystics thing going on?
Marco Curvello Ha! A little bit :)
so this game seems like Magic with dice. i'll watch it.
Garth Palmer I hope you enjoy!

When is this coming out?

Tbh I'm kinda worried about the dice rolling mechanic for Rodney ☺
NeroLong I appreciate your concern!

Okay, interesting.
I am...far too excited for this game
Indecision101 I can't wait to share more of it with you!

Hmm....so when the Gilder dies it feeds the Silver Snake.
