Rear brake pad change on CBR: (Honda CBR 250R)

  • Honda CBR is a pretty reasonable bike but when it comes to the cost of consumables it a different story. The standard rear brake pads for a honda CBR costs around 800-900 INR where as the same/generic brake pads for another indian bike(Bajaj pulsar 220) costs around just 200 INR. Since both the manufacturer employes bybre calipers for the rear discs it's safe to use the pulsar's brake pads instead.
    Once that I have changed it now, I will do a review on its braking response soon(may be as a part of some video). Till then stay tuned...KTM's group ride is scheduled tomorrow, vid coming soon.

    Thanks for the video, but i watched this in horror. No copper slip on the rear of the new pads, and worse, your hands were so filthy whilst handling the new pads, contaminating them. But now i know how easy it is to change my pads, so ty for that. I'm glad i no longer have the standard exhaust to get in the way of doing this job.

      Graham Mullis glad that you found it useful, how ever the contamination you are talking about wasn't greasy hence it wouldn't be affecting braking efficiency of pads.
      Also since CBR 250 and Pulsar 220 use same callipers from BYBRE hence the dimensions of the pad is same.

    Just brought cbr250 standard and rear break is very inadequat. Bike takes time to stop if only rear break applied . Its also heating and rear tyre is not smoothly moving if tilt on one side. Honda service center is saying that run for few kms to smoothe the breaks . Is it true if i drive some kms then it will be smooth?

    • @BuilditRideit
      @BuilditRideit  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No buddy, the brakes perform pretty well right off the showroom, also if the ride seems skewed then check for the alignment of the rear wheel, if that's alright then check if the chassis is bent owing to some accident before you bought the bike.

    • @mattbfpv7172

      Build it- Ride it , it’s a bit different. The pin going through the break pads just has to be unscrewed and they just drop once the pin is out. Compress the caliper to get the new pads in. Good tip on compressing the break pedal a few times before going out for a ride to add pressure on the break pad. Easy install

    • @BuilditRideit
      @BuilditRideit  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RcMattFPV in 250 r the pin just needed a tap, any way glad that you solved the issue, happy building and riding mate👌👌👌

    • @BuilditRideit

    • @brennanpereira7958
      @brennanpereira7958 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Build it- Ride it at least you feel the bike is stopping? Does the tyre lock? Do you use a lot of pressure for the brake to be applied?

    • @BuilditRideit
      @BuilditRideit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brennan Pereira yup buddy I do feel it, and I don't really have to apply loads of pressure, the braking efficiency of pad is good enough, I have never experienced tire locking what so ever, but since it's a non ABS model, it may lock once you slam onto the brake pedal way too hard.
