WizKids WarLock Tiles Mega-Dungeon

  • Welcome to my dungeon build! We've unboxed, reviewed, and compared the WizKids WarLock Tiles and now it's time to build! This build contains seven Dungeon Tiles I sets, and in fact everything you see on the table is a WizKids product, right down to the rats in the storeroom!
    WarLock Tiles are perfect for playing your favorite tabletop RPG like Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder. You can even play skirmish wargames like Frostgrave or Age of Sigmar with ease. This terrain is prepainted! Heck, even bring out Warhammer 40k from Games Workshop. This stuff is a great compliment for your crafts like hirst arts or 3d printed scenery and even goes great with Dwarven Forge!

      What is the $$ value of a build this size?

    • @RickKoeppen
      @RickKoeppen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe about $800. 7 sets at $100 each and multiple accessory packs. That's assuming full retail price of course.

    • @jasonramirez3502
      @jasonramirez3502 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RickKoeppen the Dungeon alone is closer to 900 if not a grand, full retail price. 700 for Dungeon tiles 1, 50 each for door expansion pack 1 and he said he had 2 of them. I estimate 150 for all the small accessories like his beds, barrels, tables, etc. Tack on another 150 to populate the dungeon with enemy minis.

      It's actually kinda sad/funny (depending on your perspective). Not to call anyone out, but it's like they're so desensitized that they've come to expect this as the bare minimum and it doesn't phase them much. At least they don't vocalize it. I think that's why I love sharing my stuff online because I appreciate all the love.

      @@RickKoeppen I get it.... from both sides. But still.... there's no denying the amount of effort you put in. Not just the financial amount (which is equally mind blowing), but the thought into the creation and then the time to actually build. You do wonderful things for your players and I'm sure most your viewers are like myself and would just LOVE to have a game on the tables you've provided over the years. Sure it's easy to expect when you've been spoilt for so long, but I'm sure they also appreciate it and maybe it just rolls along is all.
      Or..... maybe they're just so blown away they forget to show their appreciation!!

    • @andrewl9191
      @andrewl9191 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yowza! 7 sets is a LOT. I don't think you need to buy 7 sets and do this kind of a huge build. This is like a luxury setup. I don't think most people will use them to this extent. I had a great combat setup with just a single box of the latest set of normal dungeon tiles. It gave me a pretty good size room with some side rooms lock behind doors and an outside passage. We have a large group, might have had 7 people there, and I wanted to make sure it was large enough to move around AND have a main boss plus two large monsters. I've since added angles and a town and village. It's been more than enough so far. I do have the curves coming in soon so I can add a little more flavor, but generally, I just use a single building with some rooms for my setups. Don't feel like you need to get as many as he is. For example, even Critical Role doesn't use huge setups like these.

      @@RickKoeppen Hey i found out how to do 2 stories with them. You have to stack walls but leave spaces where the doors are. Then make sure the room your putting on top is clipped well, both ways.
      What they really need to make imo is small recktangles to connect walls to walls from their side. Adds lots of stability and will allow you to avoid clipping tiles on the floor level all together!

      Things like this are so weird for me. I don't usually do a complicated layout. I would rather describe a lot of this in the theater of the mind, and have maybe a single room with a lead-in or out. I feel like it's just so much to manage. There's just so much here though, that I don't think you could describe all of it, especially if it's a big dungeon crawl where there are clues here or there, and if you have to double back to do something else before being able to move on.
      Since I've never run a large dungeon like this, WITH terrain as such, I think it'd be interesting to see how it's done and see how it plays out.

      Pretty good! Just need to add one summoning circle pack and I used two expansion pack 1s. Also no Town sets at all. The biggest difference is that i actually used 7 dungeon 1 sets in this build.

      7 base sets, one Summoning Circle pack, two Doors & Archways, two stairs and ladders, two expansion pack 1s, and multiple dungeon dressings.

    Hey Rick, I've been slowly getting into your videos more and more lately. I think you do a really good job presenting the products you review. I get the feeling you don't really approach these videos as reviews to begin with, but just a sharing of your enthusiasm for the overall hobby. I do find it interesting that you're not into RPG's considering your massive collections of associated material. Thanks for the highly detailed presentations. Do you think 3 sets of dungeon tiles 1 would allow you to replicate a Heroquest Board?

    • @RickKoeppen
      @RickKoeppen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James you are 100% accurate. I know there are those out there that accuse me of having the salesman's tone of Ron Popeil (not even kidding 😆), but literally the only reason I make these videos is to share my enthusiasm. No paid endorsements and I don't even have my channel monetized.
      Honestly your question leaves me curious, because there are so many corners. I'd have to count the grid area of the board to make sure you have enough floors, but honestly the corners would be my concern.

      @@RickKoeppen Laff....Ronco sucked up to many minutes of my life on late night TV in the past! I didn't really consider the corners but you are right, I definitely need to think about that. I just ordered two of the mythic level Heroquest sets from Hasbro through their version of kickstarter, and was thinking these dungeon tiles might add some dimension. Thanks for your input!

      @@RickKoeppen Wow. I can buy 3 3-D printers that are higher end for that. I get that you are rich, but I probably have more limited time than you and my cost for a similar size dungeon not including 3-D printers was around $100. Plus looking at the painting here for the stone is horrible, my tiles look a lot better than these warlock tiles. So your quality is less and more cost. Guess I will pass.

      I apologize if you got the impression that this video was in any way intended to be a "review". It wasn't. I have many WarLock review videos posted, this was not one of them. This was a post-review build, combining all of the sets together to show what could be made. That intention was accomplished at about 0:01 of the video as soon as you got a glimpse of my creation.
