Hey Welonz, there's an interesting little Lovecraftian Point and Click game series called The Last Door. I think it's severely underrated on TH-cam and I would love to see you play it some day. They are released in seasons but I believe the series is complete at this point. Season 1 has 5 episodes Season 2 has 4 episodes. However you can complete and episode in an hour or even less if you know what you're doing.
I'm not sure why but a lot of Lovecraft inspired games seem to focus on Innsmouth like coastal towns plagued by strange people and stranger... things. There is actually a lot more variety in settings through his works than you'd think from what gets made. Just recently there was Call of Cthulhu which has an almost identical setting and presentation. I'm still waiting on a remake of Eternal Darkness from the Gamecube. It's probably the most interesting Lovecraft inspired game yet made.
Guess because the Innsmouth focused stories are his best known work (and they're quite good). But yep, he wrote a lot of other stuff that could be turned into interesting games, i'd love to see for example a horror rpg in the Dreamlands.
@@Neawoulf there are like 2 short stories referencing innsmouth in the whole Lovecraft work, and the titular mask of innsmouth is not even any where near the best ones...
I think it is because was the base setting of the pen and paper RPG, that's the base of all western Lovecraft inspired games... Let's say there is a reason why bloodborne is the best Lovecraft inspired anything...
I played Sherlock Holmes games from this dev. They are pretty good, but niche. The dev has a knack on using the last century aesthetic, there's similarities from the UI, location to the conversation scheme. This game is certainly bigger in scale and mythologies. Pretty interesting, sometimes in Sherlock Holmes it could get tedious doing the legwork, so there's benefit on just chilling and let other ppl do it lol
Perhaps, next area might be better. While the setting shares similarities, this rainy noir Lovecraftian city is a contrast to the bright victorian London. I don't know about combat though, looks sketchy
the suspect has a suspiciously very nice new dog bed...... perhaps he has.... a new dog?? (draws pic of cute dog /potential witness to homicide in me detective notebook)
When lying he straight up tells him the guy's name. Lewis... Like Lewis won't show up at a later date. Or Throgmorton won't find out he's still alive...
Spoiler: It takes place after the Shadow over Innsmouth since they mention that the town was burned down recently which is the end of the Innsmouth story
@@NosferatuWickedTTRPGwell, if you want to put spoiler before the information, might want to leave sime space to prevent people seeing it before the spoiler warning.
*Accidentally hits mafia-boss-person* *No reaction from mafia-boss-person whatsoever* . . I expected a warning or a threat at least.. Getting that ”familiar” Lovecraftian/Sherlock Holmes vibe, cool!
I'll probably wait until it comes out on steam in 2020, maybe by that time the devs have polished up the game, because the story and investigation elements look pretty interesting.
Looks interesting, but that Innsmouth look of the people is imho a bit too obvious. Wasn't Lovecraft always about knowing the Horror is there without specifically showing it? Anyway ... i still might play this some day once it's out on Steam or GOG. I love those old Sherlock Holmes games the devs made ... except for the latest one maybe because they changed the main characters a lot.
Spoiler of the original novels The people of Innsmouth are the descendants of the deep ones aka literally fish people living under the sea. And most of the Innsmouth people would gradually turn more and more fish like as they age, eventually they will leave the land dive into the sea, joining their ancestor, becoming deep ones themselves.
@@Welonz Its pretty cool, a Lovecraftian card game by the guy who wrote the story for Sunless Sea. Gameplay has some issues with repetition and trial and error but I think its the most interesting Lovecraftian game I ever played or seen played. It doesn't play like any traditional card game though...its weird.
I love her laugh, Welonz always laughs in full auto or burst. It's always like a short "Ha-ha!" or "Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!" :D
The best laugh ever!! 😂😂
An ape man hit a guy with a barrel, who knew Donkey Kong was Lovecraftian Horror?
Cthulhu mythos is only a small part of lovecraftian horror
Drenched atmosphere, good visuals and a surreal investigation, looks pretty good to me, I'd watch more :P

Dollteeth those really are amazing point and click games, I second this!

Well, Lovecraft grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, and has a tombstone there dedicated to him.

I have been working hard to have enough time to watch this series with your voice. Thanks for doing it. Much love for the channel
Hope you enjoy it, thanks for the kind words!

I think it's maybe, "too big" in scale.
Like, every thing seems a step back to "crime and punishment" and "the devil's daughter"...

Here to binge after that tweet🥹
Please keep playing this. Unlike the recent Call of Cthulhu game, this one actually looks like it's setting up decent atmosphere.
The Cthulhu game has an ok atmosphere. Straight up great in the final area.

Charon boat, nice start, may play it myself.
"Charon"? Isn't that the ferryman of the dead in Greek Mythology?
Yeah
I love this game a lot keep playing dear
Ohhhh it takes place near Innsmouth, I think I know where this is going.

Would definitely be interested in seeing more of this. Looks a bit clunky, but the story's definitely going somewhere.
Is this King in Yellow right here in the beginning, lampshaded by the dialogue?
That’s interesting
You missed the boat the dead guy came in on.
Most people seem to be missing it, its actually bothering me. Ugh... oh well
Here we go. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn (In his house at R'lyeh dead C'thulhu waits dreaming). Anyone with me?
Has Welonz ever gone back and done a full playthrough of a past first look?
Yup, it usually depends on if I have 1) time 2)desire and 3) viewer interest.

Alright! I watched your Lisa playthrough some time ago, let's see what this game is about.
this kinda reminds me of the Sherlock Holmes games
It's from the same developers.
So Throgmortons united with a certain royal family, eh? Was it King Louie from Jungle Book?
All hail Cthulhu!
Cthulhu fhtagn.
39:14 just like new orleans
Have you played Cultist Simulator Welonz?
nope
