No waaaaay, this is the first time I see someone in TH-cam play this game (other than no-commentary channels). Props to whoever suggested it. I'm soooo excited 😁
My God...I love this Game Franchise. And hearing the music in the beginning, just when you walk into Sarifs office gave me chills because it reminds me of a soundtrack from the original Deus Ex game....so good
OH.......MY........GOD. I never thought in a million years would you play this game for us. I'm very excited! Thanks for choosing this one. I love the game and the Deus Ex universe.
Thank you for showing your playthough of thos one. Its a shame that there arent many playthroughs of this game. Its the perfect game to watch a playthrough of because there are so many ways to complete the missions. Its awesome to see how different players handle the situations.
I love these games, I play both this and the sequel at least once every year sometimes twice, I've loved the series since the original back in 2000, really looking forward to this.
I play MD at least 10 times a year making my own set of rules each time too change the experience. i miss HR as I can't play it on ps5. ugaaa. actually considered buying an Xbox just so I can can play HR again. lol
That whole bit with the PEDOT cluster and Neuropozyne is based on actual biology and is best explained like this. Ever wondered why we don't have artificial organs, medical implants, tracking chips etc. inside our bodies? It is because if we placed say some sensor with electronics inside your body, your immune system would see it as a foreign object i.e. not something that belongs in the body. The immune system will treat it like an infection at first and run a high fever trying to burn it off. When that fails, the immune system will start coating the object in scar tissue so that it cannot affect anything around it. So, any blood sugar sensor, cholesterol sensor, artificial kidney or RFID tracking chip implanted in your body will be caked in scar tissue and will be rendered completely useless. In the context of this game, "augmentations" are actually robotic artificial limbs and/or artificial organs that are controlled by your brain. This requires special implants in your brain (placed in the PEDOT cluster) that translate brainwaves into actual commands for the augmentations. Like all implants, these brain implants are also attacked by the immune system and are then coated in scar tissue (called glial cells in the brain). This makes the augmentation useless. So, people who get augmentations must take a drug called neuropozyne to neutralize the immune response and allow their augmentations to properly work.
I remember those glasses at 41:20 being the coolest thing imaginable back when I played it for the first time. It's like an N7 emblem "franchise symbol"-wise but much more functional :D
Thanks for playing this. Loved the video. A solid game ... This franchise need to be talked more .. I would definitely recommend to play the original game too atleast for ur personal experience..one of a kind game .
Hey Liera 🙂. Congratulations on making a fine choice and giving this game a go. I would rate this game very close to a 10/10. It is only let down by 'Boss Fights' which is unfortunate. I think it is better than the follow-on Mankind divided. However MD has the same flaw... I consider the original Deus Ex from 2000 even more special - the greatest game of all time in fact. Don't be put off by out-of-date visuals! Highly recommend you try it. All the best.
Oh cool I was interested in buying this game and found your playthrough now I get to play and watch your journey of it and your channels cool so far ^^ crazy how its so similar to Cyberpunk 2077
I LOVE when people explore areas of my favourite games. I'm already hooked to your playthrough! It's perfect for me to multitask and keep my ADHD pleased. Also, I can never not notice anymore that Pritchard has a gigantic neck LMAO oh well every time I find something new about this game.
Considering that the Prey you're thinking of came out in 2017 and the first Deus Ex came out in 2000, more accurately, Prey reminds you of Deus Ex :D Even though the visuals are dated, the original Deus Ex is legitimately one of the greatest games ever made and set the table for a LOT of games that came after it.
If you need commentary , like to guide ... major slack covers this game and prey ... I played both these blind at first ... got through em Then followed major slacks playthrough and its like playing a new game ... Even on like nightmare difficulty ... its a breeze .. But I will just ad quota to my thoughts.... when I watched Leura play ... it was grt to see others enjoying classics .... These are like ,when you have your best movie releases .... not all of em push a button !!
This game just demonstrates how much better these games are than most of the crap released today. The attention to detail, the lore, and freedom to explore... It's amazing!! I love this game, and hope that you played it through even if I'm 10 months late to the party! I hope you keep playing it this way too, reading everything and exploring..
Nah there are some games that stand next to this proudly ... like ac syndicate ... and such... but this game is defo addictive ... played it 5 times to date since , 2yrs back 😂
Here we go. Adam Jensen, bionic john wick from before there was john wick. Loved your comment about Adam's sunnies, even after more than ten years they never go out of style. Glad you were nice to Farida, she is cool.
1:16:58 Try not to second guess what you've done too much. In this game there are just so many options/paths/approaches that there will often have been "a better way". Unless you want to continually save and reload to only use "the best way", try to just treat it like real life and accept that when given multiple choices it is often impossible to know what "the best way" is until after it is past. For me the joy of this game is in the options. I chose to mostly use stealth and look for hidden paths (vents, rooftops, sewers, etc.) and occasionally hack enemy defenses. One interesting bit of trivia about this game you may not know... When it was first released their marketing was very much centered on it being a game that allows the player to choose how they want to play it, whether that be as a shooter/fighter, a stealthy approach, a hacker, or combos of some or all of these. Unfortunately, it turned out that the way they designed one of the first boss fights made it nearly impossible for players who focused on (put points into) stealth or hacking. Only brute force and big guns worked well for that fight. There was a big backlash from reviewers and players specifically because of the way the game was promoted as a "play your way". The company (fairly quickly if I recall correctly) came out with a free update/patch which changed that fight, making it as winnable via stealth and/or hacking as it was using big guns. They basically saved the game's reputation by responding quickly and effectively to their audience.
@@LieraPlays You know, that might be the case. I thought I recalled it being a much faster reaction to fan's complaints and that the changes were incorporated around the same time the DLC was released. Reading on Wikipedia it seems to say that changes were incorporated into the DLC but that didn't effect the main campaign and it wasn't until the Director's Cut when they were integrated. I rarely bought games as soon as they were released so maybe I waited on this one so long that it wasn't long before the Director's Cut came out. Sorry for the inaccurate info.
Best series of games ever. Except for the 2nd one, that awful "Invisible War". They're so replayable. So many different ways to do a mission, and side missions.
23:21 It has been quite a while since I played this, but I recall that it gives you options as to how to successfully proceed. You can focus on manipulating aspects of your environment (hacking computers, enemy turrets, etc.), you can sneak and find alternate paths, or you can simply play it as a shooter and blast your way through. I used a combo of each as each situation presents multiple possibilities.
@@LieraPlays It is very much the case, which is why you have so many different upgrade options. It has been some time since I have played this as well, but if I remember correctly, there were levels where you could completely avoid boss battles if you have the appropriate skills and do the right thing, which wowed me at the time. It is highly recommended to pick a playing style and go deep into the appropriate upgrades, as you won't be able to upgrade everything by the end of the game. Playing stealthily takes longer, but it often gives you additional perks. If you are going to do hacking, invest some points in fortifying, which is a way to slow down detection, as on higher levels, you will often won't be able to get the data in time without being detected at least once. Going guns blazing also has its charm, and you have some upgrades that strengthen you and increase your speed, which helps a lot of with that :) Anyway, have fun with this one, it is certainly one of the more memorable cyberpunk games out there :) By the way, the original Deus Ex (DEH-oos EX, it is Latin and comes from the expression "Deus ex machina", which means "God from machine") game hasn't aged very well in terms of graphics, but it has a great story. It takes place much further in the future, when corporations are much more powerful and augmentation is commonplace.
@@LieraPlays thanks. btw you can create your own paths in this game you dont have to follow the set rules to say the least. as well you missed alot of loot on the first mission( trust me search everywhere take your time and experience every level, you can search and read 99% of computers you come across. i hope you enjoy this series
First, thanks for playing DXHR. I love the Jensen games (Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the other), I hope you will enjoy them. :) I can answer the questions you had which I didn't see get answered by others here... The HUD is hard to see, some elements are too small... - This game is 2 generations behind us. (PS3/Xbox360 times). So it was designed for 720p resolution screens. I didn't play the PC version, but in similar cases, I've found that reducing the resolution to the original sometimes helps. It might seem too big at first, but the alternative of small HUD elements strains your eyes over time... The next game had HUD resizing in options. Getting used to cover... - Console version had an option under Gameplay to 'Toggle' cover instead of 'Hold'. For long stealthy waits, it pays to use toggle. Then click to enter and exit cover instead of holding a button. A lot of reading in the game... - Yes, be prepared to read several multiples more content than even the Mass Effect codices (codex). Another reason to find comfortable settings for your eyes. It's very intricate lore in the DX universe. Who is Athene? - You passed her, going to meet Sarif. 00:18:20 Blind cover shooting. lol - GJ figuring it out. You learned how to aim. Next, use your scope. Like sniping in ME2/3, your Tranquilizer Rifle has a scope. A keyboard or mouse button will toggle between 'over the shoulder' aiming and the scope. This also toggles ironsights if using a handgun or assault rifle. The toggle doesn't work when in cover. Is sleeping non-lethal? - Yes for sure. But sometimes a non-lethal weapon with cause death. If it matters, confirm with 2 signs. Look for 'Merciful Soul (20)' popup after enemy is knocked out, indicating non-lethal, and Z's instead of a skull in the HUD icon showing the Move option when focussed on the body. Does killing (or not) matter? - Yes. Also, avoidance matters. Sometimes post-mission results change depending on whether all or some or none of the guards have been killed or knocked out. What is a 'Hard' object? - Objects have durability ratings. That just says they'll be easy or hard to break, or damage someone else with. There's also an object health bar on the same hud element. 1:50:10 "I don't understand..." (looking at leg augmentation) - So, look at an augmentation tree that hasn't been started yet... See on the Augmentations screen under Leg Augmentations, the Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis? Enter that screen. See the three greyed icons below the top, purchasable, yellow one? The center grey icon (Jump Enhancement) has a cost of 0 points, while the ones beside it cost 1. The top yellow one costs 2 points. This is like the rest of the upgrade trees. Purchasing the first augment in a tree costs 2, and enables/yellows the first grey icon below it which had 0 cost. It's the default starting ability when starting the tree. All following abilities cost 1 each in the rest of the tree. So Jump Enhancement is your first possible Leg Augmentation. Other trees which have some augmentations enabled by default don't require the 2 point entry cost, and only cost 1 point per new upgrade. What is the battery at the top? 1:16:00 - Energy cells. Some augments use one cell of energy to function, others deplete a little energy per second, the rest don't cost energy. Your last cell (left-most) will always regenerate back to full. Any cell partially used will also regen. Any fully depleted cell other than the first only regens when you eat some energy food (like Cyberboost energy bars). A green cell is full, a red cell is empty (might need bigger hud to see), other cells haven't been obtained yet. A partially depleted cell flashes as it fills up again. 1:51:00 "I have 2" (energy cells) - You have 3. One was red/empty before you looked the first time, so you thought you had only one. Upgrading gave you 1 free, but still 1 is empty. After consuming energy bars or something, the 3rd will be green too. Can you stash a body? - No. Agent 47 hasn't made an appearance in this universe yet.. :p "Whoa!" (You lost dialogue for a second when Zeke Sanders got tired of waiting) - People eventually stop waiting for you to speak and might end the conversation or just advance a bit by themselves. The reading gets longer too. Might not always have time to read aloud for your viewers. Quickly peruse the larger paragraphs without following every word. What do some of the terms you're reading mean? - Some terms are meant to go over your head. It's not your fault for not knowing, it's just written that way. But most of the terminology in the writing of this series is pretty accurately chosen. Pronunciation of 'Deus'? - It got answered already... but to hear what it sounds like? Find a Spanish or Italian speaker (like Antonio Banderas) in a clip or in a movie saying "god" as "deus". It is pronounced the same even though it's Latin here. Some other details that might help... - Hacking is one of the main tools of a 'stealthy' run, but reading locked computers can spoil story elements a little early. Depends on your preference. - Use your Tranq Rifle scope for long range reconnaissance, like binoculars. - Dealing with every enemy and uncovering every hidden area can boost your XP dramatically, giving much more augs by the end. - The corporations and name drops are usually significant to the story, not just lore. - You can use your knockout button even in cover for an enemy who approaches closer than like 2 meters. Really it's almost a cheat... - Releasing cover sometimes leaves you kind of far from the cover, and exposed to enemy sight. Careful. - Use the button prompt (hold space I think) to have Jensen follow cover around a corner. - You can crouch and stand while in 'tall' cover. - Objects near walls and corners often hide a vent entry point. - Those doors with the mesh or whatever on the bottom half can be peered through without the enemy seeing you from the other side.
Tip: While sneaking past the bad guys is fun sometimes they have information on them that you'll need later on like computer logons and passwords as well as door codes, if you don't knock them out or kill them then you won't have the opportunity to loot them and find the important information.
Oh I love the Deus Ex games. Remember playing the first one when it came out and it was revolutionary. This third game do take place before the first game and second game so it is chronologically sound the start with it.
@@LieraPlaysoh. . I will be watching them...maybe also Remember me ..Mirrors Edge..Rage. or cyberpunk 77.. thanks! You deserve more views becouse D.exhr...best game ever
Someone has probably mentioned it already, but the batteries or energy as the case may be, is used to for all your activated cybernetic abilities, including when you knock out someone lethally or non-lethally. If I remember correctly, it does regenerate, so you have at least one available at all times.
@Liera Nice to see you play this, by the way. Really interesting story, with some fun twists. Keep an eye out. At certain points, there are smaller side-quests that you can do. As far as playing the original (pronounced Day-us Ex) I would recommend playing it, whether on the channel or not.
Wow Leira , first play through ... you kicked ass ... even though you missed hostages .. ..way to go . Two of the hostages ,youll possibly want to punch 😂 youll understand ,when you neet em
Deux Ex HR & MD + Cyberpunk 2077 are the best futuristic RPG's. in all of those games, the OST's are fantastic. Nothing comes close to them to capture their respective cities/worlds.
okay, more tips: 1) Stick to Cover: If you going for stealth approach, you basically need to get glued to the cover, holding that RMB all the time and using Space to move around. This is an exaggeration, but using cover is greatly beneficial, firstly it basically makes you invisible for characters on the other side (yes, even if they technically would see you if it was a real life, it's a game and you use normal difficulty, so game makes it easier for you), secondly it allows you to actually see what's going on and react right away, as camera will always be above cover. And again, seriously, use Space to move around while in cover, it's better than "crouch-walking". 2) Takedowns: You can make them from any side of the enemy as long as you looking at them close enough, all you need is 1 energy bar. 3) Actions and Energy: Actions like Takedowns require Energy (displayed under your health, and yeah, it's an awful UI size for such a huge monitor, maybe there's a mod for it... not sure). Energy regenerates, but only for the current bar, so in the beginning you have 2 energy bars, if you have them full, then using one Takedown will reduce energy to 1 bar, but that energy will regenerate back to 2 energy bars, but if you use two Takedowns before 2nd bar replenished it will only regenerate 1st energy bar, thus leaving you with ability to only make one Takedown, before "recharging". You recover additional bars by eating food. 4) Scope: It's middle mouse button for the scope or iron-sights. 5) Tranq. Rifle: It has shorter shot distance than an actual Sniper Rifle, so sometimes you'll need to aim slightly higher. Shooting someone with a sleeping dart will force them to lose consciousness after few seconds, but if you shoot them in the head they fall asleep right away on the spot. 6) Playstyles and Bonuses: There's generally three ways of playing the game (kinda, not really, but you'll see what i mean): 1) Direct Approach, as in smashing through doors and guns blazing. It's actually quite hard to play game this way, as at some point enemies will start to overwhelm you if you don't use cover and eliminate them fast enough. For that playstyle it's preferable to get headshots, as you get additional XP for those; 2) Ninja, as in sneaking behind every enemy and disabling them, either by killing them or neutralizing them. It's sometimes harder to do than third option, as it requires you to make sure that enemies don't spot their fallen comrades, and you need to be pretty quick about it; 3) Exploration, as in just move past everyone unseen, ignore every enemy you can ignore, find ways to get around and leave no traces of you being there. Every encounter in the game has option of just sneaking past everything and moving on (like that roof Pritchard mentions), this is basically Pacifist playstyle, and can be easier for some people who know what they're doing, but the further you go, the harder it will become, sometimes you start feeling like you're playing Portal, always sneaking around with a box in your hands. There's two major Stealth XP bonuses for completing missions through stealth, the first one is "Smooth Operator", which means you need to complete a mission/part of the mission without triggering an alarm, the second one "Ghost", which means not being seen by enemies (as in you can only get "Alarmed" status (when enemy suspects you're somewhere near), not "Hostile" (when enemy actually knows you're here and attacks you)). 7) Hacking: I noticed you only doing one node at the time during hacking mini-game, so just to make sure, you can capture multiple nodes at the same time if you want. Non-gameplay comments: 1) "Ancestral Eve" is an actual thing, well "Mitochondrial Eve" would be the correct term i believe, it's just how scientists call what we would describe as "the first actual Modern Human", basically the ancestor that all humans share. It's not a literal Eve from the Bible, it's just "an appropriate analogy" like Mordin would say. 2) You did miss Hostages... i did the same during my first playthrough... you know that room where enemies talk about the bomb and where it is easy to just go through the door... well, yeah, that large room is large for a reason. And yes, even if you go "Exploration" route as i described above, you can still rescue hostages... you just needed to deactivate a bomb (which actually has some funny ways to deactivate it beside hacking it). 3) Minor Spoiler: There's 4 ways to deal with Zeke (Kill, Neutralize, Persuade to Leave Alone or Allow Him to Leave with Hostage), i won't spoil the consequences of them, but i think you did good with Zeke. 4) Social Augmentation: It's an easy way to deal with "conversation challenges", like the one with Zeke, but what's more important... it's manipulative. Sometimes people dislike when you use it on them, as in they won't understand that you used an augmentation, but the way you persuaded them using that aug. will not always leave them happy, often it will leave them annoyed. The best way to persuade people is to actually persuade them using your words.
Also in regard to UI scaling, if there's no mods for that, maybe try experimenting with Screen Resolution, changing it to smaller one will undoubtedly increase UI size.
Ah Deus Ex eh? Fun game, good story with some nice twists. It's the type that you gotta replay a couple times to see and understand everything. I tend to go in guns blazing 90% of the time, I keep stealth to assassin's creed. Enjoy it Liera, though here's a question, what you would you replace with cybernetics?
I would add more memory capabilities if i could, and do something with my eyesight for sure, and maybe some other features for the eyes in general. What would you replace?
"I keep stealth to asssassin's creed", not gonna lie, that hurts. It's not like AC doesn't have some stealth mechanics... but HR actually has great stealth, it's one of the best stealth games in my opinion (there's only one game that has better stealth mechanics, unless i forget some, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory)
I liked your playthrough, and how you approach the game. This is a really good game, I hope you contionue. I see you already had a couple of advice from Nick Vendel, so I won't reapeat them thoise are good advices, but I like to add to that. 1) Hacking: You might misunderstood the tutorial, but you don't have to capture all nodes, just the ones which lead to the one which complete the hack. Also the game has auto-hack devices. These items are one use only, but they could unlock any lock or computer regardless how difficult it is. Also paswords/codes tend to lying around. 2) Takedowns: You can take down opponets who are actively shooting at you.(except for boss fights) 3) Augmentations: Just a warning I don't think it is possible to unlock all augmentations in one playthrough. If you find every praxis kit hidden, buy all praxis and complete all side quest you can have around 75%-80% at the end of the game. To explore the game, and to move around things I reccomend the following abilities to have: punch throu walls, jump high, move heavy objects, icarus landing (no fall damage). I can give more advice on this if you like, which augmentations work best with which playstyles, but maybe it is more fun if you figure it out yourself. 4) The loot: I see in the beging you were searching for loot. Since you can buy praxis points in limb clinics, having a good amount of many is helpful. You can get the most money by selling guns. However there is a little problem with that. If you can grab three pistols, only the first will appear in your inventory the other two will converted into ammo. So if you want to sell all three, you have take one go to a vendor sell it go back to the place take another one etc. It is a grind, but this way you can have money for praxis and maybe a few upgrades. You will have vendors in urban areas, but when you infiltrating a base or lab, you can't buy/and sell. 5) Boss fights: If I saw correctly you play the base game and not the director's cut. If you stick with this, even if you sneaking around keep some firepower at hand, because as far as I know in the base game you have to use direct force to defeat the boses. The director's cut modifed that so if you preffer sneaking/hacking you can use those skills against the bosses as well. I didn't want to spoil anything, but my first playthrough I went for sneaking so I kept a light inventory, because I didn't need guns. Then came the first boss, and I had a hard time. I think the boss fights is the weakest part of the game, in the original version. I hope you will continue, the game has a really good story. Also keep exploring you can find interesting things and also sometimes funny things.
I think Liera mentioned on the Discord server that she's switched the game over to the director's cut version. But you're right about the original game boss fights being a PITA for us stealth players :|
I still think this game is somewhat underrated, it's great IMO. I love JC Denton from the original Deus Ex but Adam Jensen my be my favourite protag from the series. I would still recommend checking out a modded version of the original Deus Ex, it's a legit masterpiece. I'd recommend the late Totalbiscuit's video on it for a good explanation as to why it's so highly regarded. I miss that guy.
I'll never forget the first time I played this, I spent too long wandering around Sarif HQ and when I arrived at the Warehouse the hostages were mostly dead (the manager is still used at the end) also, the first set of cops you meet annoyed me so I took them out and stole their ammo lol Love that freedom!@@LieraPlays Oh and Mankind Divided is brilliant.
>Deus Ex It's a shortcut for Deus Ex Machina which in English is generally translated as "God from the machine" (a very apt name for the series but Deus Ex was shorter). Originally it was used in Greek dramaturgy to designate a God coming to save the day at the end of a story (and it was actually delivered on the stage with a crane, a machine, hence the name). It was used after that by all kind of authors, famous or not -- even Shakespeare -- as a literary device when they created a situation in a story where their "hero" definitely needed the help of someone or something to get out of a hopeless cul-de-sac so they put a god in there (which could actually be anything, not really a "god", it just have to be something or someone completely unexpected and never previously explained or presented in the story) to save the day -- and their story. It is still used today and is considered a cheap trick used by authors who don't know how to deliver a proper ending. In DXHR though you have to take the meaning very literally "God coming from the machine". It will make sense as you'll see :D As for the pronunciation there you go: th-cam.com/video/dVlcbTPOu-E/w-d-xo.html And I agree... Meg either really wants to pee or is experiencing a nervous breakdown XD >Playing the first Deus Ex On a 4k screen, a very hazardous proposition. Although I seem to remember there's a way to resize the UI in that case... won't be pretty but "maybe" enough :) However there's no need to rush. The first Deus Ex chronologically takes place years after DXHR and Mankind Divided. So you don't miss out on anything by playing those two games first. For a complete experience it's preferable to play it at some point. You might want to play Deus Ex: Revision which is a community overhaul of the original which is still worked on (available on Steam but you still need the original Deus Ex to install it because Revision is a mod). >6:20 Your eyes are definitely better than mine :D >"Clarification: only applies to video games :D" Are you sure? mm... XD >16:00 Yes, you'll be able to get this toy... at some point, if you want it :D But it's only lethal in Human Revolution. There's a non-lethal option in Mankind Divided. >Sarif: "I need you to get on top of this!" You're five minutes away to get fired :D >"Ooh, it's this kind of game" Yes. If you want you can play it stealth. There's an achievement to complete the game without triggering any alarm. There's also one to complete the game without killing anyone except the bosses. But as it is your first time, just follow your instincts :D Also, in term of XP gained, this game reward stealth/no kill approach more than pure "gun them all". >"Where's my fire extinguisher?" The amazing adventures of Liera and the fire extinguisher. Now available! I'm curious to see where you're going with that :D >31:02 I would suggest you to go into the Options->Gameplay->Cover Style and to switch from "hold" to "toggle". That way you won't have to constantly hold the cover key to stay in cover and that will simplify the movements cover to cover and the aiming. >"No worries the realization will come" Who's worrying? I'm not... I was just thinking "Gosh she really loves to spray those bullets all around" XD >31:47 Wow, you managed to make the bad guy spend all of his ammo :D Notice that he won't fire at you after that point because he's out of bullets. >"shooting off my hip" From your hip. But what you did until now was more akin to suppression fire XD Firing at the enemies without intent to hit them, just to force them in cover and render them unable to fire back, which would allow one of your friends (if you had any there) to flank them and shoot them from the side. You can actually with practice shoot "relatively" accurately from the hip if you have a good hand/eye coordination. For optimal results firing from the hip is not recommended though -- but always cool in movies :D Normally you can talk to any NPC (like the receptionist) by hitting E when you're close to them and they are in your crosshair. The prompt is way off on the right and high though. Possibly a 4K thing. >"Look at you Pritchard. You didn't actually do the thing you're supposedly very good at" You crack me up there :D Everyone loves Pritchard! No? What a shock! XD >1:10:55 When using a scoped weapon like the tranq rifle, you have to hit (or hold, depends on the settings) the "aim" key to bring up the scope (whatever the "aim" key is for you in the options). Let's call this courtyard... practice. I'll let you figure out what you could have done to bypass those three baddies in another playthrough (hint: it starts with the forklift) :) >"Too heavy. Funny. I didn't actually expect to pick it up" There's an aug for that too :D >"You just have to click fast enough I guess" This hack was the easiest in the game... as you can imagine :D You also don't need to capture all the nodes (that increases the chances of being detected), just to create a route to the server making sure to pass by the nodes the less likely to trigger the alarm. Then there are other things to learn but you'll see as you progress. >Mission: Josie Thorne has been taken hostage. Her husband Greg asked me to save her. Well, he certainly would have if you had ever met him. But since he was with the hostages he's probably dead now. I never saw this log entry was bugged. It should account for the fact that Jensen never talked to Greg. >"So I was too hasty" You also didn't go the stealthy route. When in doubt, try the bathrooms :D The end conversation with Sanders is the kind of conversation where a social enhancer can come in handy. That was a great first episode. Your love of stealth game with many options shows. Missing things on the first playthrough is not uncommon. There's a lot of information and mechanics to swallow at first. And your squirrels were rather sleepy this time... You were so focused on reaching the main objective :D But that was fun, bring us more!
I'm sure they exist, but this is the first playthrough of this game I've ever seen. It's a terrific game, but just be patient in learning the mechanics Btw, the original Deus Ex looks dated as hell, but is one of the greatest games ever. The amount of choice you have in that game and how your choices really affect the story are still unmatched in modern games
@@LieraPlays One interesting thing about the original game is that it came out in June 2000 and in it's universe the Twin Towers in NYC have been destroyed by terrorists. This is a full 15 months before it actually happened. Weird
If you take more than 20 minutes to get to the helipad after starting in the lobby it changes the briefing and the mission afterwards, because the hostages are now dead.
Human Revolution is just insane. So deep, so well-made, tons of content. You'll love it :) UPD: Oh no, please tell me you didn't blew the hostage situation by walking around
It's pretty common to miss it in a first playthrough (I remember missing it too), there is a video for that called " the mission you are supposed to fail" or something like that
OMG, Liera what are you doing, first my favorite series - Mass Effect, now my second favorite game, c'mon, what will i have left to recommend to you once you finish Mass Effect 3?
BTW there are 2 book you should consider reading, they are written by James Swallow who helped write the backstory for the Deus Ex games. The first book is called "Deus Ex - Icarus Effect", this is set during the events of the first game, (Human Revolution), but from a different protagonists perspective and gives you a lot of background on the bosses that appear in the fist game, it's not an essential read but it does add to the law and can be read after playing the game. The second book, "Deus Ex - Black Light", is a must read as this fills in the gap between the end of the first game and the start of the second game, (Mankind Divided), this should obviously be read after finishing the first and before starting the second, if you don't then the start of the second game is a bit of a Jump from the ending of the first game, I found it was much easier to understand what was happening at the start of the second game after reading Black Light.
If I remember correctly, you can do take-downs from a "standing in cover position", when someone is coming up to a corner, very useful when there is a lot of cover or in tight corridors, where they have to walk past you. PS! Might just be the second game though :P
The original Deus Ex was hugely popular, is considered one of the classics, and tops many lists of best sci-fi rpgs of all time. I've read rumors of a remake or update to today's tech, but it would look pretty primitive playing the original as it was.
In regard to original Deus Ex, Human Revolution is a prequel to it (HR is set in 2027, while original is set in 2052), so honestly, i think you should play it once you finish either HR or Mankind Divided... i understand your hesitation, as it is an old game with somewhat clunky controls, but it is a cult classic for a reason. I have no doubts people would still be interested in watching you play it. When it comes to pronunciation, most people pronounce it "Deh-oos Ex", though i believe some pronounce it more like "Day-as Ex"... really it's the same as in "Deus Ex Machina", whichever way you pronounce that is probably fine. Also i recommend enabling highlighting of interactable objects in settings, as i will bet you will miss stuff otherwise.
One of the BEST games I have played. but I remember the user interface being larger than that. maybe something in the settings would fix that. or a mod.
Well Leira , firstly loving how you're enjoying another fun masterpiece .... Like a kid in a candy store !! Love it . But it sucks for you , as not only is most your icons are very very teeny tiny ... That mini map is as much use as a chocolate fire guard ... Seen as with said map, it'd make your life easier to see targets ,before you need to move from cover etc !! That sucks
P.s. Leira , try pronouncing it deus (juice with a d ) ex It's like most words around the world ... we all pronounce them differently . .... Not like American pants ... meaning trousers ... To pants uk ,meaning underwear 😂😂 But please let's not go down the route of fanny pack vs bum bag ... They both sound very offensive .😂
The original Deus Ex is one of the best games ever made, and it basically gave birth to modern gaming in many ways. I assure you that it still holds up and continues to be relevant even today, if not more so. After all, it did predict 9/11 and the subsequent rise of authoritarianism.
@@LieraPlays I see. I was debating recommending one for the game that puts the point of the game on display and also demonstrates some augmentations in action (not gameplay). You've seen everyone in it, so not spoiled. But I'm still on the fence... maybe knowing the overall direction ruins a 'blind' playthrough. Hmm, I'm thinking now it may result in some Deus Ex videos showing up in your recommended list, which could have spoilers in the titles. So there's a reason not to.
@@LieraPlays Yeah I've mostly stopped watching movie trailers for that reason. But given yt's other content, I'm now thinking the bigger danger is video clips that give away details of the plot right in the title or the pic. And you're essentially requesting those by watching Deus Ex content at all lol. So nm. But thanks for responding! :)
Came back to watch from the beginning, yes you skipped a lot of places. There is a lot to explore in this game, and many targets to put to sleep if you're careful.
I started out saying "Doos X" but I looked it up long ago and it is "Day-oos X" from the Latin phrase Deus Ex Machina. th-cam.com/video/BjfOjpEczk0/w-d-xo.html
good game but thousand years behind the original deus ex in terms of gameplay and story. if you ever want to play the og play it with the Transcendence mod, makes it playable on modern hardware and higher resolutions, fixes alot of bugs and adds stuff while remaining very close to the original.
I know youve played it through Leira ,like a babys first footsteps ... so to speak ... But play it again , try stealth and different routes. Vents provide xp !! Varying from one to three hundred ..classed as secret routes. Ghost bonuses come in extra xp at end ,for not been seen ... even if you take down with out been noticed .. There is smooth operator ,for completing all tasks . Extra xp The ebooks give 200 xp but only for certain ones . All these help get praxis kits more frequrntly ... I just saw you got ghost bonus !! Way to go Pick anything up to see whats under neath !! There are hidden in plain sight goodies , like praxis kits ,worm virus and nuke virus ... Credit chios etc

No waaaaay, this is the first time I see someone in TH-cam play this game (other than no-commentary channels). Props to whoever suggested it. I'm soooo excited 😁
im exicted maan!;) way to goo liera!;) im going to watch!;)
Totally agree. One of the best games i have played, never thought i would see it here. Props Liera.
Same
This is my favorite game of all time. I can't remember how many times i've replayed it.
DEHR is my fave game too, babe. I love you.
I've played the game 12 times.
pfft.... the original is better by a nautical mile.
Woohoo! It's so fun to see a lot of people excited about it!
Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are two of my all time favourite games and Adam Jensen is the goat!
I Really love these Underrated Deus Ex games, its nice to see someone playing them, think I'm going to enjoy this series and channel! Thank you!
I play MD at least 10 times a year making my own set of rules each time too change the experience. i miss HR as I can't play it on ps5. ugaaa. actually considered buying an Xbox just so I can can play HR again. lol
Its awesome to watch someone play a game and enjoy what the game designers/writers/etc put into it and explore it rather than run through it.
Interesting. Love me some video games concepts that have a basis in reality.
You said words.
An all time favorite. The music, the mood, the writing, the concept, they nailed everything.
38:40 Commander Sheppard has been recovered. The Lazarus Project will proceed as planned.
Haha, no kidding!
Awesome that your playing this, one of my favourite of all time. Not many playthroughs with cam as well so thank you very much :)
I remember those glasses at 41:20 being the coolest thing imaginable back when I played it for the first time. It's like an N7 emblem "franchise symbol"-wise but much more functional :D
Love this play through. Cant wait to watch the next one.
Yoooooo, that's a nice surprise. Deus Ex is my alltime favorite game series and HR is just great. Looking forward to this.
Thanks for playing this. Loved the video.
A solid game ... This franchise need to be talked more ..
I would definitely recommend to play the original game too atleast for ur personal experience..one of a kind game .
I changed resolution to 2560x1440 and i'm liking the UI size now, 1080p was looking a bit rough on the eyes.
Oh my god, yessssssss. I've been thinking of how cool it would be if you played Deus Ex and here you are! Good luck!!!!!
I LOVE when people explore areas of my favourite games. I'm already hooked to your playthrough! It's perfect for me to multitask and keep my ADHD pleased.
Also, I can never not notice anymore that Pritchard has a gigantic neck LMAO oh well every time I find something new about this game.
Glad to see you're enjoying!
One of my favorite games of all time, I cannot wait to watch this playthrough!
Hope you enjoy! I'm quite liking the game!
Just subscribed after discovering a new playthrough of this game. It is one of my favourite games of all time.
Dough Sex is one of my favorite games of the previous decade.
XD XD
Considering that the Prey you're thinking of came out in 2017 and the first Deus Ex came out in 2000, more accurately, Prey reminds you of Deus Ex :D
Even though the visuals are dated, the original Deus Ex is legitimately one of the greatest games ever made and set the table for a LOT of games that came after it.
Haha, that's true. Considering I played through Prey already, and am only starting Deus Ex, my timelines are all screwed up :D
Good game. Had this one when I had PlayStation Plus. Have to get a copy of it and play it again. Glad to see you playing it.
The original Deus Ex has dated mechanics, but is still a very interesting game nonetheless. I for one wish more people LP'd it with commentary.
It has the best storyline in the series as well👌
@@lilrizq Very true...keeps or gets people to start thinking about things around us
If you need commentary , like to guide ... major slack covers this game and prey ... I played both these blind at first ... got through em
Then followed major slacks playthrough and its like playing a new game ...
Oh, I thought that change was only made when the Director's Cut was released, so this is much more awesome to hear!
That's the feeling I'm getting from this, and I'm very excited to see what I can do.
Going guns blazing also has its charm, and you have some upgrades that strengthen you and increase your speed, which helps a lot of with that :)
Anyway, have fun with this one, it is certainly one of the more memorable cyberpunk games out there :) By the way, the original Deus Ex (DEH-oos EX, it is Latin and comes from the expression "Deus ex machina", which means "God from machine") game hasn't aged very well in terms of graphics, but it has a great story. It takes place much further in the future, when corporations are much more powerful and augmentation is commonplace.
finally someone playing this ! you just gained a sub !
Welcome in!
I can answer the questions you had which I didn't see get answered by others here...
Blind cover shooting. lol
- GJ figuring it out.
1:50:10 "I don't understand..." (looking at leg augmentation)
- So, look at an augmentation tree that hasn't been started yet...
- Energy cells.
1:51:00 "I have 2" (energy cells)
- You have 3.
"Whoa!" (You lost dialogue for a second when Zeke Sanders got tired of waiting)
- People eventually stop waiting for you to speak and might end the conversation or just advance a bit by themselves.
The music the atmosphere the story everything about this game is unparalleled by other rpg games to this day.
I would love to see how you are playing Deus Ex Original and System shock 2
Nice, one of my favorite games. I hope you enjoy it.
Loving it so far!
Solid pick, I think you're really gonna like this one.
Tip: While sneaking past the bad guys is fun sometimes they have information on them that you'll need later on like computer logons and passwords as well as door codes, if you don't knock them out or kill them then you won't have the opportunity to loot them and find the important information.
Good point!
Oh I love the Deus Ex games. Remember playing the first one when it came out and it was revolutionary. This third game do take place before the first game and second game so it is chronologically sound the start with it.
the music in this game is some of the best across the genre
Nice videos and fun watching your videos of deus ex, subscribed only for this saga...lol,,,please do alien isolation gameplay
I did play through Allen Isolation! It should be in my channel playlists.
@@LieraPlaysoh. . I will be watching them...maybe also Remember me ..Mirrors Edge..Rage. or cyberpunk 77.. thanks! You deserve more views becouse D.exhr...best game ever
This reminds you of Prey (2016) because they are both part of the Immersive Sim genre (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersive_sim).
Love this game and Mankind Divided too. Great reboot for the saga
I just love the hints of UNATCO theme in the first visit to Sarif's office. Damn I think you ought to play through the original game.
I definitely should.
This is my second favorite video game saga (after Mass Effect) 😍
Someone has probably mentioned it already, but the batteries or energy as the case may be, is used to for all your activated cybernetic abilities, including when you knock out someone lethally or non-lethally. If I remember correctly, it does regenerate, so you have at least one available at all times.
Thanks! That's what I was thinking, glad to have it confirmed :)
@Liera Nice to see you play this, by the way. Really interesting story, with some fun twists. Keep an eye out. At certain points, there are smaller side-quests that you can do. As far as playing the original (pronounced Day-us Ex) I would recommend playing it, whether on the channel or not.
Yea! You play my favourite games
Wow Leira , first play through ... you kicked ass ... even though you missed hostages .. ..way to go .
Two of the hostages ,youll possibly want to punch 😂 youll understand ,when you neet em
I love the Deus Ex universe - I'm fascinated with the Illuminati in Deus Ex as much as anything!
Deux Ex HR & MD + Cyberpunk 2077 are the best futuristic RPG's. in all of those games, the OST's are fantastic. Nothing comes close to them to capture their respective cities/worlds.
okay, more tips:
1) Stick to Cover: If you going for stealth approach, you basically need to get glued to the cover, holding that RMB all the time and using Space to move around.
Non-gameplay comments:
1) "Ancestral Eve" is an actual thing, well "Mitochondrial Eve" would be the correct term i believe, it's just how scientists call what we would describe as "the first actual Modern Human", basically the ancestor that all humans share.
Wow, there's a lot of info here haha. Thank you!
@@LieraPlays Oh eyes is a good idea, probably arms and legs too, would make working a hell of alot easier.
@@ZeEvilOne that's true. Not getting tired at all or as much would be a great bonus.
Nice, I thought this was a pretty sweet game. Best of luck.
2) Takedowns: You can take down opponets who are actively shooting at you.(except for boss fights)
3) Augmentations: Just a warning I don't think it is possible to unlock all augmentations in one playthrough.
@@Vedexent_ That's good to hear. I'm not on discord, but maybe I should. I see most youtubers has discord, and I also testing the waters.
I liked it a lot! And Jensen is a lot of fun.
Excited for Mankind Divided before I try tackling the original.
I asked for this - Adam Jensen.
Mary DeMarle who's currently working one the next Mass Effect game was lead writer for this game.
Keep up the good work❤❤
I'm excited. You seem to not have played the original, so it will be interesting.
>Deus Ex
It's a shortcut for Deus Ex Machina which in English is generally translated as "God from the machine" (a very apt name for the series but Deus Ex was shorter).
It will make sense as you'll see :D
As for the pronunciation there you go: th-cam.com/video/dVlcbTPOu-E/w-d-xo.html
And I agree... Meg either really wants to pee or is experiencing a nervous breakdown XD
>Playing the first Deus Ex
On a 4k screen, a very hazardous proposition. Although I seem to remember there's a way to resize the UI in that case... won't be pretty but "maybe" enough :)
However there's no need to rush.
>6:20
Your eyes are definitely better than mine :D
>"Clarification: only applies to video games :D"
Are you sure? mm... XD
>16:00
Yes, you'll be able to get this toy... at some point, if you want it :D
But it's only lethal in Human Revolution. There's a non-lethal option in Mankind Divided.
>Sarif: "I need you to get on top of this!"
You're five minutes away to get fired :D
>"Ooh, it's this kind of game"
Yes. If you want you can play it stealth. There's an achievement to complete the game without triggering any alarm. There's also one to complete the game without killing anyone except the bosses. But as it is your first time, just follow your instincts :D
Also, in term of XP gained, this game reward stealth/no kill approach more than pure "gun them all".
>"Where's my fire extinguisher?"
The amazing adventures of Liera and the fire extinguisher. Now available!
I'm curious to see where you're going with that :D
>31:02
I would suggest you to go into the Options->Gameplay->Cover Style and to switch from "hold" to "toggle". That way you won't have to constantly hold the cover key to stay in cover and that will simplify the movements cover to cover and the aiming.
>"No worries the realization will come"
Who's worrying? I'm not... I was just thinking "Gosh she really loves to spray those bullets all around" XD
>31:47
Wow, you managed to make the bad guy spend all of his ammo :D Notice that he won't fire at you after that point because he's out of bullets.
>"shooting off my hip"
From your hip.
For optimal results firing from the hip is not recommended though -- but always cool in movies :D
Normally you can talk to any NPC (like the receptionist) by hitting E when you're close to them and they are in your crosshair. The prompt is way off on the right and high though. Possibly a 4K thing.
>"Look at you Pritchard. You didn't actually do the thing you're supposedly very good at"
You crack me up there :D Everyone loves Pritchard! No? What a shock! XD
>1:10:55
When using a scoped weapon like the tranq rifle, you have to hit (or hold, depends on the settings) the "aim" key to bring up the scope (whatever the "aim" key is for you in the options).
Let's call this courtyard... practice. I'll let you figure out what you could have done to bypass those three baddies in another playthrough (hint: it starts with the forklift) :)
>"Too heavy. Funny. I didn't actually expect to pick it up"
There's an aug for that too :D
>"You just have to click fast enough I guess"
This hack was the easiest in the game... as you can imagine :D You also don't need to capture all the nodes (that increases the chances of being detected), just to create a route to the server making sure to pass by the nodes the less likely to trigger the alarm.
>"So I was too hasty"
You also didn't go the stealthy route. When in doubt, try the bathrooms :D
The end conversation with Sanders is the kind of conversation where a social enhancer can come in handy.
That was a great first episode. Your love of stealth game with many options shows. Missing things on the first playthrough is not uncommon. There's a lot of information and mechanics to swallow at first. And your squirrels were rather sleepy this time... You were so focused on reaching the main objective :D
But that was fun, bring us more!
I'm sure they exist, but this is the first playthrough of this game I've ever seen. It's a terrific game, but just be patient in learning the mechanics
Btw, the original Deus Ex looks dated as hell, but is one of the greatest games ever. The amount of choice you have in that game and how your choices really affect the story are still unmatched in modern games
I hear there's a community mod for the original that makes it much more passable. I will definitely look into it when I get there!
@@LieraPlays One interesting thing about the original game is that it came out in June 2000 and in it's universe the Twin Towers in NYC have been destroyed by terrorists. This is a full 15 months before it actually happened. Weird
Ah, so that's what people in the chat were talking about...
If you take more than 20 minutes to get to the helipad after starting in the lobby it changes the briefing and the mission afterwards, because the hostages are now dead.
Human Revolution is just insane. So deep, so well-made, tons of content. You'll love it :)
UPD: Oh no, please tell me you didn't blew the hostage situation by walking around
Sadly :(
It's pretty common to miss it in a first playthrough (I remember missing it too), there is a video for that called " the mission you are supposed to fail" or something like that
While the original is a better designed game in so many ways, I did miss the fantastic revolver from this game.
In a lot of stealth games, you don't have to neutralize every enemy. Just sneak by them and proceed.
1:32.00 ish, All those lockers that could have had good loot inside 😢 lol...
Wow this is a surprise. Game is fuckin phenomenal btw
OMG, Liera what are you doing, first my favorite series - Mass Effect, now my second favorite game, c'mon, what will i have left to recommend to you once you finish Mass Effect 3?
Maybe Outer Wilds?
@@Yggdrasil42 um... no. I don't have anything against that game, but 1) i never played it, and 2) i enjoy story-based games.
@@Yggdrasil42 or Outer Worlds! And you know, Starfield will be out soon!
One of the top stealth games ever. On par with Dishonored
Were you trying to complement it or insult…?
Thanks! Good suggestion!
Kudos from RunicNeonTelescope!
If I remember correctly, you can do take-downs from a "standing in cover position", when someone is coming up to a corner, very useful when there is a lot of cover or in tight corridors, where they have to walk past you. PS! Might just be the second game though :P
I'll have to give it a go!
The original Deus Ex was hugely popular, is considered one of the classics, and tops many lists of best sci-fi rpgs of all time. I've read rumors of a remake or update to today's tech, but it would look pretty primitive playing the original as it was.
amazing franchise
Adam is the man
In regard to original Deus Ex, Human Revolution is a prequel to it (HR is set in 2027, while original is set in 2052), so honestly, i think you should play it once you finish either HR or Mankind Divided... i understand your hesitation, as it is an old game with somewhat clunky controls, but it is a cult classic for a reason.
Thank you for the tips!
Good game! LG
I have been saying "Day-us Ex" all these years. It sounds wrong when I mumble >.
It sounds suspicious no matter which way i try to say it to be honest haha. Maybe I'll shorten it to D.E. or something XD
Nice playthru
One of the BEST games I have played. but I remember the user interface being larger than that. maybe something in the settings would fix that. or a mod.
It just doesn't scale. I'll need to play it at 1080p instead of my monitor's resolution :)
I didn't realize that when I first started.
That sucks
P.s. Leira , try pronouncing it deus (juice with a d ) ex
It's like most words around the world ... we all pronounce them differently . ....
Not like American pants ... meaning trousers ...
To pants uk ,meaning underwear 😂😂
But please let's not go down the route of fanny pack vs bum bag ...
"Deus" is pronounced in Latin, it sounds something like "day - us", the english word with a similar pronunciation is "deity"
Are you allowed to watch trailers for your 'blind play' games?
I suppose? Been a while since I watched one though
@@No._6 I appreciate you thinking about it! It's a good question. I definitely know some movie trailers that pretty much give away the ending
It's pronounced "Deh-Oos Eks". it comes from Latin language
Came back to watch from the beginning, yes you skipped a lot of places. There is a lot to explore in this game, and many targets to put to sleep if you're careful.
nice
Miss. ❤
19:30 Of course it's 0451 🤣
I took note of that too lol
@@LieraPlays Haha. Where did you first encounter it? System Shock?
Bioshock and Prey are the two that come to mind.
Wouldn't be a dystopian game (or rather setting) if it doesn't honor some of the classics :D
I started out saying "Doos X" but I looked it up long ago and it is "Day-oos X" from the Latin phrase Deus Ex Machina.
th-cam.com/video/BjfOjpEczk0/w-d-xo.html
Perfect. The problem of always seeing something in writing and never having to say or hear it struck yet again.
Thank you!
good game but thousand years behind the original deus ex in terms of gameplay and story.
if you ever want to play the og play it with the Transcendence mod, makes it playable on modern hardware and higher resolutions, fixes alot of bugs and adds stuff while remaining very close to the original.
Good advice! Thank you! I will definitely give it a go at some point. Can't miss such a cult classic.
Deus ex rocks i love thypoon
I know youve played it through Leira ,like a babys first footsteps ... so to speak ...
But play it again , try stealth and different routes.
Vents provide xp !! Varying from one to three hundred ..classed as secret routes.
Ghost bonuses come in extra xp at end ,for not been seen ... even if you take down with out been noticed ..
There is smooth operator ,for completing all tasks . Extra xp
The ebooks give 200 xp but only for certain ones .
All these help get praxis kits more frequrntly ...
I just saw you got ghost bonus !! Way to go
Pick anything up to see whats under neath !!
There are hidden in plain sight goodies , like praxis kits ,worm virus and nuke virus ...
Credit chios etc
Liera when you blindfire around corners it's inaccurate, you can see where they go you have to aim that's why it took a while to kill the guy. lol
oh totally! the aiming didn't agree with me at all this episode :D i did get a bit better :D
0:22:55 - totally unrealistic. You can't tell me some lab tech wouldn't have folded down all the fingers, except one.
You make a very good point. They clearly don't have their priorities in order.
ACTCHUALLY, it’s a VTOL, not a “helicopter”.
17:59 looking at your response there, Liera, yeah, you pretty much can't spell "Prick" without saying the first three letters in Pritchard's name
Hahaha
