Wunderland never stops to amaze me. And the founders (the twins) are some of the most down-to-earth, friendly and humble human beings. They grew up poor and in very difficult circumstances and obviously they never forgot about that.
I am from Germany and I was there this autumn with my son (27). It is unbelievable. After three hours of ingesting every detail your brain is completely empty 🙂 And for what it offers, it is not expensive. A must go in Hamburg but you need to preorder your tickets - there are always a lot of people.
Fun fact: The white thing held in the hand at 18:21 where the flamingos are stored is normally called a Pommesschale and used for French fries and Currywurst. The Miniatur Wunderland might be the place with the most of these not used for food.
Have been there today. Outstanding. But folks, if you are really a miniature fan, invest 2 days. For just one day the set is simply too overwhelming. And important: BOOK ONLINE before you go.
I've been there with my husband and it's just fantastic. There is something to discover everywhere. You can tell how much love is being worked on there.
We actually had a really nice miniature train land (maybe 10qm) in our basement when i was a kid. I only lately recognized how truly amazing it was and how much effort my dad and me put into it. Sadly we sold it long ago to "make place". What a shame.
I've been to Hamburg a couple of dozen times and have never been to the miniature wonder land, I don't know why. It was never on my plan, which is crazy, I will have to just go just for the wonder land, nothing else, but once there, I get distracted by my friends and family and forget why I'm there, one day I will make it.
It's H0, which stands for "half Zero". When model railways were made from embossed sheet metal, powered by wind-up mechanisms, there were two sizes, 1 and 2, with gauges of 45 mm (1:32) and 64 mm (1:22.5). Later, with improved detailing, a size 0 was introduced, half the size of 2 or 32 mm gauge. When plastic molding was allowing for even more detail, the size 0 was halved again to Half Zero, or H0.
@@aoilpe Yes. And your problem being? Plastic molding was invented at the latest in 1907, with the advent of Bakelit. You could argue that it came from 1902 with Laccaïn, but this one never got much traction.
As a German, I can't help thinking we should maybe put those guys in charge of our ACTUAL infrastructure and traffic, or - public sectors in general. We might end up with trains that are on time, a sufficient amount of electric vehicle charging stations, military helicopters that don't rust when flying over sea, airports that open as announced and have proper fire safety, bridges that do not collapse, metros that aren't overcrowded, kindergardens and schools with sufficient staff, doctors that do not diagnose everything from Vitamin-B deficiency via appendicitis to concussion as a "psyhchosomatic" problem that can be solved with tea and globuli ...... Ääähhh, where should I stop ....
Hi D, it's still fun to see your reactions 😊. The concert is with the actor DJ Bobo, I visit that show in Bremen and walk over the stage with my wife before the show starts ....
I lived in the vicinity of Hamburg but I have never been there. The one time I tried, there where so many people I'd have to wait more than 2 hours to even enter the Wunderland, so I relinquished. And now I can't stand so many people anyway, so no Miniatur Wunderland for me. I would have like to see it but I'll live without it anyway. :D
incredible, this whole attraction only cost 50 million to build and entry prices are more than half the price of Disneyland Paris, where each attraction cost like 10-50 million to build.
16:30 Real Swiss chocolate, not German. We don't pride ourselves on chocolate and gladly take Belgian or Swiss. Wonder how much Lindt is paying them, though. Have you already reacted to the Prince family of Monaco opening the Monaco section?
Depends what you mean by "real Swiss". Lindt has production, a factory outlet and R&D in Aachen. Chances are very hight that the chocolate is produced in Germany. Lind produces also in France and Austria as far as I remember. On the big chocolate bars it is actually printed on the back, where it was produced. So is it real Swiss when it is produced in France, Austria or Germany or do you count only chocolate produced in Switzerland as Swiss?
Hi, on the left ground/floor of the bridge in the big box there are also trains going into the buildings or changing between the buildings i think, i m not shure?
Fun fact: The name of the airport and adjacent city, "Knuffingen" is a play with words. "Knuffig" means "cuddly" (while the verb "knuffen" translates to "to prod", "to poke", but depending on context also to "giving a big hug"), and "-ingen" or "-inga" is an old German suffix found in the names of many villages and towns, meaning approximately "belonging to" (... the first part of the name).
How they power those longs tracks? Very simple, it´s not DC anymore they´re using AC models and AC can travel far distances without loosing much power unlike DC. And the cow in Area 51 my guess: Earthworm Jim, they´re also gaming nerds at least of the old consols or South Park.
My GF and me visited the Wunderland, just a few weeks after the Monaco F1 system had become operational. Every single F1 car on the Monaco circuit is individually computer-controlled, can you believe that? The multi-processor controlled magnetic drive system underneath of the road is simply amazing. th-cam.com/video/EwLr4LOgi_U/w-d-xo.html

Did you know , they have one month when they offer free entry for people who can’t afford it to pay the visit…it’s not only a business.

If you are in the Sankt Pauli section (Reeperbahn) there are even „love making“ peoples behind the window curtains. No kidding. Cheers from Hamburg!

this is........ absolutley speechless😳
Your enthusiasm is great. Many greetings from Germany
they have a gas station from Jet which shows and changes the exact same prices as the nearest real Jet gas station to it.

They are also a lot of times on german tv. They absolute amaze me. Also, their TH-cam channel is worth a sub!
i love your humor, keep it up. Warm greetings from Germany.
Mindblowing..

Sorry but I have a lot of old metal models in H0 - the scale of1/87 was invented in the 1920’s already…

No video could ever describe the details and size of this attraction.
This is nowadays the place with the most visitors in Germany per year ! no surprise , right ?

LOL - aber wo Du Recht hast, hast Du Recht.
The snow in Scandinavia is made of ground glass. Don't touch it, you could catch a splinter. When will you come to Germany to visit Wunderland? ;-)
They say its glass, but in reality, its cook.
Ich lebe ungefähr 1 Stunde von Hamburg entfernt und war noch nie dort🙈
Dann wirds Zeit ;) Grüße aus Weimar, war auch noch nie dort ^^

yes HO Scale!

The model train scale is H0 (half zero), which is 1:87.

Reminds me of Madurodam, in Netherlands
