Reminds me of some Welsh histories tracing their royal line back to Antony and Cleopatra.

This would make a great animated movie. 10/10 would watch unironically.

I was very lucky in P6 & P7 to have a teacher that had a personal interest in Scottish history, and he was only too happy to tear up the curriculum in favour of some Highland ghost stories, myths etc. We covered the wars of Independence in P6 and we all loved it so much we actually demonstrated to demand we got the same teacher for P7, which was surprisingly successful. So we spent a second term learning all about the Jacobites. Thank random deity for people like him.

In Norway we are tought about our equivalent (Snorre Sturlason), if any english are reading, were you thought about the anglo-saxon chronicle in school?

"Aye“ also means always or forever as in" You're aye talking about history". You can't go much further back than aye.

Now this is a movie Ridley Scott could do 😂
I kinda love how hard the christianized Scots tried to insert themselves into biblical and pseudo Roman history.
It must've been distressing for them to not even see a hint of Scotland in biblical geography

I did history at school. In primary school did a very brief run-through from Romans up to the Second World War. After that, I remember a lot about the factory acts and a lot of stuff about who had the right to vote when. Did none of the interesting stuff. It wasn't until I was older and started reading history for myself that I learned a lot of Scottish History. When I say I remember a lot about the factory acts what I mean is I remember a lot of time spent being taught them and trying to remember them. What I remember of them now is little more than the factory I work in is required to provide me with access to drinking water. If we got more of the interesting bits at school more people might keep an interest in history later in life.

I heard that until braveheart came out, the story of Robert Bruce and William Wallace wasn't taught in Scottish schools (late 1990's, not long ago).
If true, it would appear the Scottish educational system was colonised a long time ago.
Here after reading about Battle of Baugé (which was recorded in the Scotichronicon). Always avoid Anglo/American dominated Wikipedia its pure propaganda, French Wiki's are probably better.

Tsk! Canon Law you must know is wot is used by Anglicans and Caffliks. Church of Scotland run after 'Stonewall' instead. A dead Kirk. Butlers 1945 Education Act wanted to teach Scots schools as English ones. To some extent he succeeded. Your POSH school still trains good Scots to be English, and appears to succeed with you! We had nothing on the Inch's, but John Knox and Mary in secondary. There was lots of Edinburgh stuff which I have now forgot. Scoticronicon's author is just like Bede, the great Englishman, Abbeys collected lots of brainy men. Another thing, many Celts originated from the Iberian Peninsula, so there may be some distant truth regarding folks coming from Egypt. A long way, and the origin story may grow as they travel, so dismiss this carefully. Your Biblical ignorance reflects your limited ken, it is biblical truth that inspires the culture you live out. I look forward to the next one being on another inch.
