      I liked Dale Jr prior to that day in Pocono. But after seeing & hearing him react to that crash he & Park had, and how much he helped Park after his head injury... I flat out loved the guy. He seems like what anyone would want in a ‘brother’.

    Dale Jr. lost his dad on the track at a race he was in. We can't imagine what went through his mind in that instance with Brad. There's no way we can judge him for staying in his car.

      Bill White not to mention he knew BK had a damaged drive train and pre race training tells you to defer to safety crew.

    What Brad said here honestly isn't that bad. He didn't really insult Dale Jr, it was more of a "he did what a normal person would do" sort of statement. It's worth noting that A) Jimmie was not in a race car at that moment and B) NASCAR does have protocol for drivers involved in accidents Namely, that you need to defer to safety crew if an injury is apparent.
    The title of this video is a bit misleading and I could see why someone would react negatively to this video. Still, Brad never attacked Junior. It was basically a 6-minute discussion of how awesome Jimmie Johnson is.

      @JSchaffer214 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasonjackson5493 Man, you completely missed his point didn't you. Or did you just read the title and not listen to the interview? He was saying that Dale Jr. did what most drivers would do by NOT facing their own mortality. Seeing other drivers hurt and thinking someone may be seriously injured terrifies these drivers because it reminds them that they are just as susceptible. He's saying that Jimmy Johnson just doesn't think that way for whatever reason. He's not saying Jr. did anything wrong.

  • @FloridaManRacer
    @FloridaManRacer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +44

    I'm willing to bet Jr. didn't touch brad for a couple different reasons. Number 1, the most obvious. He saw brad and thought of his own and his fathers bad wrecks.
    Number two and more LIKELY, he saw that brad was REALLY hurt, and in case of spinal or neck injury, as long as there was no fire, he didn't want to move him and injure him further.That's basic medical stuff that with Dale's history of medical situations in racing, has probably moved to the forefront of his brain as how to handle a situation like that.

    • @ianfurqueron5850
      @ianfurqueron5850 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but there are things a first responder can do to mitigate a potential increase in injury. If you are unsure of an occupants condition you address them through the windshield - so they look forward at you instead of trying to turn their head. Try to keep the occupant calm and keep them from moving until the pros arrive.

    Some people lock up in moments of great intensity. Especially when their father was killed on the track. He was more likely in complete shock and reliving a very profound moment where he lost his father. I’ve seen it in combat. Some people temporarily shut down and some snap out of it and some don’t. It’s just not for us to judge if you haven’t experienced situations like that. I feel Brad is considerate and measured when he speaks to be respectful and not judge. It’s a fight or flight primal reaction. I think Brad seemed slow to speak because it probably induced PTSD and he was reliving the moment.

  • @OldStreetDoc
    @OldStreetDoc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Brad can think whatever he chooses. He was there. I wasn’t. However... Dale Earnhardt Jr is & has always been one of the MOST caring individuals in NASCAR. Caring so much for others that there are several drivers that got their start only because of Dale Jr. Brad, Denny Hamlin, etc. Literally giving Keselowski his first ‘top ride’ in the (then) Busch Series.
    If he feels offended or betrayed... fine. But he’s wrong to translate that instant into a character study of Dale Jr or anyone else. Measuring ‘man vs man’ I cannot help but feel that Brad would come up short.

    • @RB3Author
      @RB3Author 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I recall hearing Junior's radio after he won the summer Daytona race in 2015 (the one that was delayed and didn't end until around 3 AM) and the gnarly crash that happened with Austin Dillon that tore down part of the fence. Junior's first reaction was to ask if everyone was okay. He had just won on NASCAR's hallowed ground and all he cared about was if Austin Dillon, the other drivers involved, and the people in the crowd were okay. The win was a distant second. The man is a class act.

  • @peppyluscious
    @peppyluscious 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Totally understand Brad's frustration as he sat in his car, injured. But I feel like the simple explanation is... Dale was in his car, didn't see the wreck happen. Jimmie was on pit road and surely did with all the monitors there. So Jimmie was more able to assess the severity of the crash.

    Other race car drivers on the track have no idea when you've been in a wreck if you're badly hurt or what. There's usually 40-something race car drivers who drive by you not giving a shit. Jimmie Johnson just happened not to be in a race car. This guy is high on something!

    Honestly, what does he want Jr to do? Sure it would have been nice for Jr to get out and see if he was OK but you're not supposed to move anyone after a crash like that.

      Maybe he would have wanted him to do what Ken Schrader did for DE Sr. Just to see him there. Get your bell rung, you want to see someone you know. A calming influence, if nothing else. Bad time to feel alone. I went through that with a heart attack.

    So engines running, crowd cheering and hollering, helmets on, radio traffic....do we know Dale Jr heard Brad say anything? Do we know Dale Jr wasnt on the radio telling anyone who could hear to hurry up and help Brad? Really makes me look at Brad differently...he tried real hard to spin that a certain way and NO ONE in NASCAR has ever accused Dale Jr of being vindictive

  • @wab202010
    @wab202010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't understand why Brad is giving Jr shit for not helping him when Jr couldn't hear him and probably couldn't help anyways. He didn't know the nature of his injuries! I don't get where Brad is coming from here. Jr put his ass in the sport and gave him the opportunity's to become what he is today, along with Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson(according to Rick Hendrick though he says Jimmie won't admit it) and others. Jr has brought a lot of talent to Nascar and if it weren't for him I don't think Nascar would be where it is today! Brad always said he liked Jr so I don't get his beef here at all. He should watch Dale Jr almost burn alive in the Corvette at Infineon before he goes talking about his crashes and injuries.

  • @despacitosuarez

    Brad never really critized Jr. Yes, he may have been upset since Jr didn't come to help and he could of used Jr's comfort at the time. But I also understand Jr's reaction. Think about having a PTSD attack. Jr's father died so that could of sent Jr back to the moment like a flashback, causing him to stay still. Now Jr may have not helped because he could of further hurt Brad so that is a possibility.
    As for Johnson, he was more reactive because of the fact that his best friend died. Having a close family member die is hard, but losing a best friend in my opinion is harder to deal through. You built up a great relationship of some random man have become so close to each other before that relationship is taken away with their death. That could of been the reason why Johnson reacted the way he did

    The whole Dale Jr thing is hard to understand without the other side for context. Did he pull up to see if he was moving and radio back? Was he strapped in and unable to get out before the crew arrived? More info is needed. I dont really see it the same, deep way BK did but I wasnt there either..

To be so self indulged in ones self towards a man who has seen 100x loss in the sport compared to brad, is literlally dispicable. Without Jr, brad would still be racing friday nights at local dirt tracks, if not go-carts

  • @shackletainment

    Dale was probably radioing info back to the the pits. This was at Road atlanta where there isn't a lot of visibility. Jimmie (Dale's teammate) probably only came out because of what Dale told them). Though that's not say part of what Kez said isn't true.

I’m quoting Brad Keselowski I’M NOT GOING TO LIFT. I guess he wanted an Allen Iverson style practice rant but fucked it all up.
