have Jeff back on the show again. He needs to be at the big table Lol
💯
I could listen to this for hours.
Right?
Me too future audiobook maybe but only if it's Dale Junior and Jeff
He’s got a book if you want that I got it it’s a lot like this
Gordon is pretty damn chill. All the fans that hated him for all those years....Jeff is a alright dude, and you all know it's true
ya, I didn't like him when he was driving, but only because he was on the other team, but the guy's definitely alright.
Gordon is a good guy, but he didn't fit the "traditional mold" of cup drivers when he first made it. He was from Cali, looked and spoke a little different. I never rooted for him, but he was a hell of a driver.
ya those Jr fans were nasty to him
Damn right
I remember when he passed Dale Sr. In victories and everyone booed him at Phoneix.
He was the villain in my childhood. He’s now a personal hero of mine. Awesome stories.
Jeff was one of the main reason nascar became popular in mid 90s.
I stood in line for 3 hours to get his autograph at a little dirt track nit long after he win the first brickyard. He was great with fans then and remained so his whole career
Thursday Night Thunder was a great show. I never missed it.
loving these stories, huge Gordon fan here!
Best damn racing podcast hands down. Can't stop watching these living history snapshots.
I was hooked on Thursday Night Thunder at IRP. When Jeff Gordon showed up and ran Rich Vogler on the outside, lap after lap after lap.......I called all my racing buddies and said: I don't know if Gordon will go Indy or Nascar, but he is going to be incredible. Sure 'nuff, LOL. I don't think the word "lift" was in Jeff Gordon's vocabulary at that time. Thank you Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon for the video and memories.
You have to lift in a sprint car LOL. It's all throttle control in those weather it be pavement or dirt
I was at Charlotte and when jeff come out in that baby Ruth #1 to practice we was all betting what lap he would wreck because he was hauling ass, sliding through the corners . well he didn't wreck in practice, sit on pole, dominated the race, i never was a Gordon fan but I was a big race fan, went to a lot of races and believe me, Gordon changed the game. No more riding to the end, he ran every lap like qualifing, Lil sucker could flat drive I give him that
I was there also.
When he won he was booed due to his lack of respect for Bill Davis and Ford.
I don't remember him being booed, I remember people talking about how much faster he was, he did screw bill David but come on let's see um Rick Hendricks or bill davis. No brainer
Well he sure wrecked in 96 at Michigan I believe he was practicing maby a qualifying lap. it started misting .they ask dale sr what he thought and he said if the kids smart hill bring it back down pit road and then he totals the car and dale said well he ain't so smart after all I was rolling. You can Google it
The Greek great story
@willl 88 most road courses wins 9
The first time I heard of Jeff Gordon ,I was watching a a show Neal Bonetts Winners ,I believe that's what it was called..... Jeff had been driving the Baby Ruth car...
I started following his career and instantly became a life long fan.... and Man he didn't disappoint!!!! What a driver! What a competitor! What a Champion!!!!!!!! One of the best driver and person EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why can't this be 10 hours long . thx's dale , awesome show
The Dale Jr Podcast has to be one of the most interesting shows to me going today. Absolutely crazy how Jeff Gordon got his start in NASCAR!
I'm glad Stewart came on and admitted Jeff was the best " purest" racecar driver he's ever seen. Humble dude
I started watching NASCAR in 2004. If I recall, the announcers had the camera on his car and were talking about him. Followed him ever since
Never was a fan of Gordon but always respected him as a driver. Definitely one of the all time greats.
Gordon is a phenomenal story teller. My Dude is down to earth, he's real and pretty damn funny too.
I sure do miss watching him race, but these are great fillers.
Thursday night thunder was a great show! I watched every week! Moving to Saturday messed that up. Jeff was awesome there at IRP.
I was a HUGE Thursday night Thunder fan and subsequently a big Jeff Gordon fan because of it. When all of NASCAR was booing him I was cheering. A natural race car driver from an early age.
I honestly haven't watched much NASCAR since Daytona 2001.... Dale Sr was my favorite driver.
Gordon is the goat and an A1 human Fav ever
That's one of the greatest interviews yet, really informative
I've been told my whole life Jeff Gordon is part of my family on my grandmas side... She is a Gordon and my cousin Gene Gordon God rest his soul started an auto body and wrecker service and every truck looks like Jeff's car paint scheme and the 24 and all
It's in Savannah Georgia and now his son runs the business
Absolutely hated Gordon growing up, coming from an Earnhardt fan family. Southern, good ole boy family. Gordon was the “crybaby wuss”. Man as I got older, and I saw how tough that dude is, and how special his talent was. I came to respect him, and then, eventually. One of his biggest fans. Jeff Gordon is an all time talent
Time changes our perspective and helps us appreciate the past...same here...I really love all the driver's from the past now and love the stories they have to help us reminisce.
Thunder was such an amazing show. Miss that real bad.
I worked for Dave Conti's Indy Car Team during the 1999 season. He got to know Gordon when he lived in Brownsburg, IN. Jeff's mom was our scorer for the infamous Indy Car race at Charlotte in 99. Dave gave him a test in a Super Vee at IRP. There's a video of it on TH-cam that ESPN did. Dave tried to get some Indy Teams to look at Gordon. He said they wouldn't even consider him at that time. They had no interest. Jeff was right. Back then they would only look at South Americans or Europeans, or people with bags of money. The very reasons Indy Car was not popular during that time.
... and still isn't.
@@gregmattox IndyCar is on the way back. Would have loved to see Jeff Gordon in an IndyCar though.
I like this studio setup better, you can see dude in the back ground working. No doubt getting something ready to race
I watched a lot of Jeff Gordon's races in the #1 Baby Ruth car in NASCAR before I knew what the Busch Series was. Then I followed Jeff in the #24 car which became his permeant ride.
The back story of Gordon's entry into stock car racing is fascinating to listen to. Talk about a kid in candy shop moment.
Days of Thunder Story to a T. Love it. Heard on another special, "The Ride of Their Lives" that the story was about Tim Richmond. "Sprint's Mainly" Love it.
One of the greatest drivers to ever be behind of any type of racecar, and it all happened by literal chance. Don't ever tell yourself you can't make it. ☝️☝️☝️Proof you can.
He was the last active driver who started a race Petty entered.
Only 2 cup drivers in this year's Daytona 500 started a cup race under Winston sponsorship.
This is great. The should show some highlights to help us and them remember.
I was always a Gordon fan
never knew he was originally from out by me in the Bay Area Loved his old Rainbow Warriors uniforms
My best buddies driver, Gordon. He passed a while back but respected the hell outta him for taking the sheit that came with rooting for the rainbow worriers and Jeff. But great team, great racer and awesome cars from Ray.
Much respect to Jeff.
Two of my fave men❤❤ And Jeff was my fave driver and my forever Champ, my forever #24. Love this. Love JR too. ❤❤
I know Days of Thunder's Cole Trickle is based off Tim Richmond, but I'll be damned if Jeff's beginnings in NASCAR don't sound damn near EXACTLY like it too...
John Douglas Racing Video , I always thought that too!
No! Jeff Gordon was Ricky Bobby
@@stevehartkopf9114 I think Jeff got inspired to give NASCAR a try by watching Days of Thunder
The NASCAR from the south hated Jeff Gordon, he was not one of them and he was dominating their thing.
Dom? 😂😂😂he was ok.
@@ScooterLee-ei1ep OK? Jeff is one of the greatest drivers of the modern era.
Winning 10 races, 13 races. That's pretty damn dominant
Northern Indiana is a lot more southern than people think it would be.
@@ScooterLee-ei1eplol dude won 93 races? Who was more dominant?
The sound levels are good for someone who doesn't wear headphones. Great stories
Class Act Enjoy the stories ✌🏼🎣
Almost the Cole Trickle Story.
Opening music is 🔥🔥🔥
So many things I never knew! Gordon at Bill Davis Racing
Great videos, keep them coming. Not many people get behind the scenes stuff like this..
mark martin reference my days made
Very motivational!!
"I'm like....BAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Gordon from V TOWN!! He bangin Hillside!! Haha
Gordon paved the way for drivers like kyle larson Christopher bell and i guess tony stewart even tho he proved himself in indy car
MORE!
There needs to be a HOF for People, Coaches, or other figures, that made a horrible decision to cut or fire an athlete, but the athlete becomes SUPERB. For like Michale Jordan's middle school coach who cut him, or the guy in the sprint cars that fired Jeff Gordon. The HOF Of Bad Decisions in Sport.
Most of those talented Hendricks drivers won championships.
Jeff can sure talk.
Can we get this on a ringtone
I use to hate Jeff Gordon in the early 2000s. I've always been a JR. Fan. But now Jeff is one of my favorites alongside JR. Still hate Kyle
Why does jr voice sound like Jeff Burton now...😂😂
He works with him, so it rubs off. :P
I once saw him and tom cruise holding hands
A lot of the fans who hated jeff back in the day grew to love him as his career progressed i must say i am one of them sucks he’s not on the track every week anymore
@7:30 the real life Cole Trickle is born
I remember the fans did not like him at all when he started in nascar series… that is until Dale Earnhardt took him under his wing and embraced him as a driver. Then he started to get popular.
Jeff beat Mikey Waltrip @ CMS in that Baby Ruth car and that was my first time seeing him
His life story is close to Days of Thunder as you can get
nothing , Just Happens , Jeff
The real Cole Trickle
Oh the days when Dick Eater fans would cream themselves every time Gordon hit the wall.
Get bill elliot on the show
'Days of Thunder'....except Jeff didn't ride a Harley to the track.
I still think one or two (max) episodes on these things would yield more views. :/ and Lol. I do apologize for my opinions.. but I still think I'm usually very much correct in them. =]
It's just how TH-cam works. People want to click in, get what they want, and be done with it. Splitting them all up people (a lot of them including myself) will be like.. yeah, I already saw him/that. How different could it possibly be? 'shrug'.
Lol
Yup. Like the JRE podcast is 3hr straight even on TH-cam.
Sounds like Days of Thunder and Cruise’s character Cole TRIcKLe were slightly based on Jeff Gordon too.
It may seem like that but Gordon debuted in Cup 2-3 years after Days of Thunder came out if I am not mistaken
@John Harris Days of Thunder came out in 90. Jeff's first cup start was in 92 and his rookie year was 93
Entirely unrelated
Tim Richmond
Yea I know.
It’s been well known that it’s
strongly based on Tim Richmond’s character style as well as Hendrick
Just because you didn’t know about Jeff Gordon , they definitely already did.
It's all good now, but he was the epitome of "Can give it, but can't take it..." back in the day. I still can't stand to hear him talk 😂
Let’s get back to “stock car” racing and not tube chassis racing
I wonder who that guy is that fired Jeff! Lol
Early Gordon...mustache... why Jeff?...Why?
They changed the cars and the rules to make sure he couldn't win anymore at the rate he was.
When did they change the rules?
The Chase
Without Ray Evernham, Jeff Gordon would've been a nobody.
Nothing against Jeff but here it is again, a career starting because of help from a family member.
There is great talent out there but not having someone in the given circle of knowing key people, people just don't get the chance!
