Notrombones, the PX-5S isn't a workstation, so you're not going to see a video of that exactly. The PX-5S has a phrase sequencer which can be used from drum patterns, bass lines and other accompaniment parts. Each have to be done individually then assigned to zones which can be triggered live from the keyboard. In some of the audio examples in this video you're hearing these techniques in use. We're shooting more videos at Casio now, we'll get them up soon.
This is no hobby or consumer board anymore... I have been using my Privia 330 and absolutely love it... I will be buying this because of the controller option and the 24 lbs as well as great internal sounds is an out of the park winner...
Hey Casio, can you do a software update to do the following: 1. Permit the Mod Wheel to operate as a Leslie fast-slow wheel? 2. Add half-pedaling; and 3. Add a Rhythm component to the metronome and make the volume on it louder?
Hey Mike, Thanks for the clarification. So, you can still save over 40 hours of audio recordings…you're just limited to 25 minute songs and 100 total songs stored. Good to know... -Dave
Any chance of making a video that would demonstrate the RECORDING capabilities of the PX5S? You could start with a drumbeat, ad a bass line, add a couple more tracks of chords/arpeggio/rhythm playing, and then record/save this background music, and subsequently "jam" to it. A video doing this would be a nice addition to the reasons for wanting a P5XS. I'd love to see it.
Hey Ryan, Thanks for your interest in the PX-5S. This really is a great performance keyboard with excellent sound quality. Just to be clear, the acoustic pianos on the PX-5S sound nice…we just ran out of time in this demo and decided to focus on some of the other sounds (electric pianos, organs). Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns. Thanks for watching! - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
Sorry Dave, I need to clarify The PX-5S has a limit of 25minutes per recorded file and a maximum of 100 recordings. So the total recording time is 2,500 minutes. Roughly 25gigs.
Wow, this actually affects my 2-year plan keyboard purchase! Only there wasn't considerable demonstration on the acoustic piano sounds, so I guess that means the Kraft guys aren't so confident with it? But alas, when I see an almost perfect keyboard, the brand doesn't come in 73 key.
Would it have been that difficult to go for the full 9 drawbars? I see a model in the near future with 2 sets of drawbars and a full B3 engine blowing the doors off the industry!
Thanks for your interest. The PX5S can record MIDI files OR audio files in .WAV format. CD quality (44.1KHZ sample rate 16 bit) WAV files in stereo format are approximately 10MB in size per minute of recording time…so a 32GB flash drive = 32,000 MB for about 3,200 minutes or over 50 hours of stereo recording time. Of course, the drive wont give you access to all 32 gig, so your results may vary…but you will get plenty of recording time. - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
Can i split the keyboard with only one button? I am wondering because i need to split and unsplit while playing a song. I need only piano in one part of the song, and then i need to turn on the bass for left hand when bass part comes.
This is a really nice digital from Casio.., but I wish they'd get into the market of "decicated midi controllers". If they made another version of this digital (minus the sounds), but with the knobs, sliders, wheels, and that weighted keybed, Casio would make a killing in sales on something like that.
Hello! Great demo. Is there any model more simple with the same keys and action? I don't need the knobs and speakers, just the keys/action and some decent sounds of acoustic piano ;)
is it possible to program saw sound or other sound that will act as a solo sound? meaning that if you try to play a chord with it it won't play, only if you press one key at a time? i really hope so, cause i want to be able to play lead sounds with it, like in progressive rock music.
Awesome! thaks to kraftmusic for making the best video previews we can find about digital instruments, This CASIO is just great. So, Is the key action similar to the PX330's action? i have one of them (PX350) and the feel es very nice, i´ve read that action of the PX-5 is like ivory feel, thats the finish of the keys, but what about the mechanism?
Sorry for the mistake--I realize now the PX6S records actual WAV files instead of notes on the sequencer. I'll re-phrase: How much recording time can you get with a 32Gig thumb drive?
I use all high end pro keyboards but I like the idea of this because it sounds cool enough for my small shows and the weight of it. My big question is "Does this keyboard have after-touch and/or polyphonic after touch"?
War has begun? I have never been a casio fan at all even tho my first keyboard was a casio hahaha lol well i believe war has begun cause those piano sounds sound expectacular, ive never thought yamaha, korg or roland and the other brands will have a such competitor like casio know in the present, if this is good just imagine whats next in Casio's mind for their next board?
I played one at the music store and it is VERY light weight, the keys feel good (I play a Korg VS1, so I'm spoiled in that department) and there are lots of good piano sounds. Are they the best I've heard? No. Yamaha has that on lockdown, I think, but the other features combined with the weight and the on the fly effect changing thingies...holy Fk it is just a good all around gigger's dream.
J'aimerais entendre du Privia Pro Px-5s les instruments à vent comme le saxophone ténor, la trumpette ainsi que la flûte et de même les sortes de violons ect...
could anyone help me out? I've currently got a korg sp-280; I like it but now I've started gigging I want something a little better..But since im a student I cant afford anything over £1000 really...what are the best stage pianos under a grand?
I play a Privia PX330 which I've had for 3 years now. It has been played hard during this time - I practise a lot and have a fairly percussive style - and is holding up well. When I bought it I was worried that it may be a bit light but that hasn't proven to be the case. I'm thinking of upgrading for no reason other than G.A.S. and I would like some opinions: in addition to this board I've been considering a Kawai MP7. People tell me that the Kawai is an all round better instrument and that it will better serve me that the Privia. Thoughts, anyone? Since I only gig occasionally and have more interest in recording the weight of the board isn't a concern. I know that Kawai have a fairly solid reputation but I don't see a lot of Kawai boards on the bandstand. Why is this? Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers
Like you, I have a Privia PX330, which I prefer to their PX350, it's such a great instrument, and has more Patch and Registration recall buttons than the 350, and less spurious harmonics in the lower range, to my ears. I tried the PX-5s a bit at the store when it came out. Its feature set appears awesome, but I hadn't studied up on its OS, and without that knowledge, it confused me. So I have stuck with my PX330: maybe I just like having speakers on one of my units, 'just in case'. But Mike Martin makes such a great case for the PX-5s, and he plays so well too, that's he's got me reconsidering. To address your other question, isn't the Kawai much heavier? Though it's also a real and musical instrument, the weight factor would deter me. I don't know how Casio puts such great keyboard action and sounds into such a light-weight package, but I WANT thAT!!! Hey, Happy New Year!
The mechanics of the PX-5S action is better than the PX330…probably closer to your PX350 action. The ivory feel also contributes to having a better feel. Thanks for watching! - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
I had always thought, that it was such a damn shame, that the PX-5S had such a ridiculously inadequate display screen and always had wished, that it had a screen like a Korg. Now...with the upcoming PX-560,not only does it have a 5.3",full color touch screen,it also has a full blown midi sequencer with an audio recorder as well! That said, where in the hell,is the PX-560 demo video!??
+Philo Beddoe agreed that screen is brutally awful. I messed with a Casio CGP700BK which has the same new screen as the upcoming 560. While it is a great improvement, they could have made it a tad bigger. I held my iphone 5 next to it and I'm guessing Casio did the same thing when they did the design.
You guys at Casio should learn from Yamaha guys how to do good demos. Honestly, most of your videos suck. It's because of videos like this that many people believe Casio is for beginners only. Some free tips here, play a passage from a classical piece specially when it comes to show grand piano sounds, not just some silly chords. Also, try to show what this thing really can do. For instance, if this thing has a triple sensor action keyboard, then play a dynamic song. If this thing has 256 note polyphony (something only twice-the-price competitors can offer), explain how the notes don't decay and try to produce a sequence of many multiples notes in a short period.
Yash Chauhan Not really. I think this reviewer chose really bad voices to perhaps cater to a younger market. I think the proof of the quality of a keyboard is in, like its piano sounds -- not in the high-noise-content sounds played here.
Billy Ray Nuestro Not at all. I just didn't like the voices you chose -- way too much dissonance for my taste. I didn't feel those horrible voices showed what the keyboard can really sound like.
We want a New PX 5S Black Edition.
Eu nao curtia muito os pianos da Casio, mas esse Privia eh espectacular!!! Eu compraria sem dúvidas!😍🎹

Parece ser um excelente equipamento. Parabéns pela apresentação!
Daniel,
The PX-5S doesn't have speakers, but if you're looking for something simpler I'd recommend the PX-350.

Still relevant with recent price drop. Roughly the same price as PX-S1000, but you get a lot more than PX-S1000

1. Permit the Mod Wheel to operate as a Leslie fast-slow wheel?
2. Add half-pedaling; and

MAAAAN!!! Casio has overdone this stage piano!! This is to die for!

I like the white
Can I use this as a midi controller for my own sounds?
Of course, mike has a big, honking, Casio G-Shock on his wrist...in white!

Is it just my system or do other people think the audio is overmodulated, distorted?
No it does not have a metronome. There are Stage Settings which you can download from the Casio Music Forums which contain metronomes.
Is there black though because I would like that
Sorry for the mistake--I realize now the PX6S records actual WAV files instead of notes on the sequencer.

privia PX 360 and 560 MUST have those real time knobs and sliders.
does the ps-5s has a metronome or tempo click for practicing? is it possible to attach a music sheet stand for it like in the px-350?

You talked about the sound a lot; what's the actual feel of the keys like
Like Roland RD-700 or KAWAI. also have the ivory key texture.
You guys should do a giveaway

no aftertouch???
There are some surprisingly nice sounds here, but those organs have a looooong way to go to be a contender with the "other guys."
The main problem with the Casio demonstrators is that they play the "piano" playing "keyboards".
probably a CASIO
Wow! That's biggest and whitest wrist-watch I've ever seen!
I rarely like casio's sampling.

Speakers sux!
You should re-title this video to: How to make a $1000 keyboard sound really bad.
You're a very negative person, always have something bad to say on every video. Calm down.
Yash Chauhan Not really. I think this reviewer chose really bad voices to perhaps cater to a younger market. I think the proof of the quality of a keyboard is in, like its piano sounds -- not in the high-noise-content sounds played here.
