    Thanks for posting this I will be using it as my go to reference while perfecting this kata. I do Shotokan so this is all extra things to practice.

      @raysmith5639 well thanks for watching.
      I do hope it helps.
      Please note this is my version of this kata ie not the goju version.
      But yes, if you do shotokan you will notice bassai dai, kanku dai and a few others.
      All broken down the same way.
      Good luck on your journey.

    Dropped you a like. I'll be watching this many times over the next few days to try and learn the kata. I just started Shukokai so I've got no idea if I'll encounter this kata but I like the look of it and want to learn.

    I have analyzed neko ashi dachi for a long time now, over a decade, and I think it is the MOST VIOLENT move in Goju Ryu. It is an incredible maiming move.

    • @tadashiryukaratedo4484
      @tadashiryukaratedo4484  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Neko ashi datchi is a stance. Not really that violent.

    • @draco8738
      @draco8738 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tadashiryukaratedo4484 there are no 'stances' in karate. Neko-ashi dachi is used to signify moving your center of gravity back and low, and it can be used as a trip, a throw, easy access to a knee or kick, a tomoe nage, a general pull assisted by your own bodyweight, and some other stuff. It is not a static position - nothing in kata is static, everything is dynamic. People who don't understand that can't actually apply kata properly. Looking at your other videos, it seems like the main thing lacking in your bunkai is proper footwork, which is exactly what I've feared, despite your understanding of upper body mechanics, and that in end of itself makes a great deal of your applications completely impractical. All of this comes from a misunderstanding that is sadly incredibly common within post-1900s karate.
      If you want historical evidence of what I'm saying, it is to be found within Karate - My Art, by Motobu Choki. Other masters have writings regarding this matter too(Funakoshi being the most notable one, with the well-known saying "Karate has many stances; it also has none").

      @@draco8738 hello.
      Without getting in to a debate because I just aren't.
      The thing which we use to stand ie feet and legs will always be referred to as a "stance".
      To touch on (again I wont be debating this) the bunkai, I teach is so that a student can better understand the kata or move they are doing.
      I totally understand that karate is a constant movement, but also please understand that my videos are for learning purposes and something I tell the students is that I only put the most basic ideas on this channel, I keep the rest of my ideas for the students of Tadashi.
      I thank you for your comment.
      But I wont be showing all I know and teach on this channel, only the simple stuff.😁
