what he says at 2:00 is the reason why I love this album and chinatown most of all so effing much. "what if the deepest expression of [love] is 'yeah, i'll take your sadness... i'll take it'?"
i really don’t know what to feel every time i hear this song of yours. i guess this is the best song you’ve ever made, jack. i literally stop listening to other songs because of this.
The most amazing thing about every Bleachers song is it somehow sounds like an old favorite even the first time I hear it. Jack captures nostalgia so well. ❤️
my favorite parts - it’s a car song - how it evolved from a simple ballad to a dense immersive track - the delicate chime and piano in the background - evan smith creating the riff that not only fits in the song perfectly, but also perfectly conveys the yearning emotion of the song - the demo making me hope for a studio recorded acoustic version of this song 🙏
Myself and the entire team (Bleachers) appreciate you for your kind words. Thanks for the endless support and encouragement, feel free to email me share your thoughts, Thanks: bleachersmusicofficial@gmail.com
i love the wilting flowers. listening to him break down his music sometimes reminds me of the first time i watched love and mercy (the biopic about the beach boys but really brian wilson) and saw the scene of them in the studio using sound in the most creative and literally earth-shattering ways.
This song will forever have a special place in my heart as I was listening to it on repeat while I was hanging out with a girl I was falling in love with. We eventually got together then broke up but this song will always remind me of that memory with her and I'll never forget it.

I'm so glad I found these videos. They have taught me more about music process and production than I ever knew there was to learn. I have a whole new apreciation for Bleachers' art and what goes into bringing it from an idea ringing through the mind to these masterpieces that we can all love and feel. It fascinates me every time he shares his creative process with his fans. And I guess I'm not the only one who is won over by that smooth voice, those immense ideas, hypnotic sounds, powerful feelings and mesmerizing big brown eyes. I am so grateful I discovered Jack Antonoff's work. On a side note, the first time I watched the video to Chinatown I wasn't paying attention to the title and thought "How sweet! Is that his dad playing music with him?" Then I realized it was The Boss. Sorry Bruce!
Gotten to love this song the past few week. I love watching Jack create! So intuitive, creative, with youthful bright energy. Thanks for creating this Jack
I want a video like this for every single song Jack has ever produced, because I hear so many of his songs and think "there's SO much happening here, I want a beat by beat breakdown of how this came together". this was the perfect example and oh man... those strings at the end. I love Jack being so frenetic the entire video and explaining his whole mad genius way of making music and then saying, in the most offhand way, "what if you hurt me?" and just shrugging it off. I feel like that's the whole album right there.
I would love some stems and samples from this, like he did with the other albums. You can get inside them a tiny bit and get an idea of what's in there.
I feel free while listening to this song. Hair in the wind, with no worries just a peaceful bliss. I love this song, and the beat is so beautiful. Jack Antonoff voice is so dark and mysterious, it's a cool song. He has a beautiful personality and shyness about him, having Bruce Springsteen on the song is so awesome. Thanks for the instrumental version also.
you released chinatown at the time I needed it most. thank you so much, Jack. this song truly changed my life. I can't wait to see you on tour this fall! (and yes, I've watched this video four times now....)
I come back here every time I've got writers block ! one of my fave songs and hearing jack break everything down with such boyish giddiness and passion is one of the most inspiring things ever
Myself and the entire team (Bleachers) appreciate you for your kind words. Thanks for the endless support and encouragement, feel free to email me share your thoughts, thanks: bleachersmusicofficial@gmail.com
Jack i love every single thing that you do, your midas touch on every song I listen of yours. I've had been listening to this album on repeat. Lots of love from Mexico

Jack’s assessment on the high strings in the end, the “wilting flowers” and “what if you hurt me?”…. That got to me. Been a musician for 45 years. I no longer play live or with other musicians. I only have my studio now. When I’m in there creating, it certainly is a place to bring all the emotions and the net results can be powerful. Love “Chinatown” and appreciate the stories behind its creation. ❤️😎
Wow that was incredible. Already was blown away by every rendition of the song I've heard, from Tiny Desk to the rooftop to the official video version. Now to be able to peek behind the process and see everything that's going on is like having been able to go behind the magic of disneyland. Thanks Jack!
my favorite part of the song is when it gets into the bit that says with a girl like you...thats when the songs start to build stronger into its peak...easily one of my favorite tune for a long long long time, thanks a milion

The word gets thrown around but this guy is obviously a musical and creative genius .. Chinatown immediately became one of my all time faves the first time I heard it, with Springsteen just making it more epic although Bleachers was totally unknown to me!

This song is so beautiful and nostalgic. Just takes me back to like a decade ago. Also, I just appreciate how much Jack is committed to his songs and experiments with these unique voices and instrumentals. Like, a music masterpiece maker.
I loved this song already but its so great to get to hear him talk about all the intricacies of it. It helps me appreciate the song in a way I hadn't before.
This song feels so nostalgic, and somehow romantic and sad at the time.
Nailed it!
I would watch this for every song on this album and every song he’s ever produced 😭❤️
Please read this Jack, and please oblige🙏💯

Instead of Christmas, can I just have Jack talking about music? Same for my birthday.
The producer of the decade
The absolute joy on his face at 09:57 is so contagious.
Chinatown was so incredibly well done. It's beautiful to listen to.

6:54 this tiny moment reminds me of hoppipola by sigur ros, the same kind of nostalgia for happiness, it's just magical af

Jack is so passionate about his work, it’s beautiful. Absolute humble genius.
I could listen to the "wilting flowers" at the end over and over again too.

My favourite song in a while, it grows on you after a few listens and those songs are usually the best ones, that means you never get tired of them
I would love some stems and samples from this, like he did with the other albums. You can get inside them a tiny bit and get an idea of what's in there.
