- Ljupčo Jivan Gjorgjinski is a senior fellow with DiploFoundation, focusing on the
security and diplomatic aspects of frontier science and technology. He
chaired the 2019 and 2020 United Nations (UN) Groups of Governmental Experts
(GGE) on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS). The GGE, under his
leadership, adopted a report that is still among the most advanced international
normative documents to focus on artificial intelligence. In 2018, he also chaired
the Meeting of States Parties (MSP) at the Biological and Toxin Weapons
Convention (BTWC).
In this short video recorded during the 10th AAAS-TWAS Course on Science Diplomacy, supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), he stresses the importance for scientists and diplomats to work together effectively.
