    I called into blackpool air rifles 2 weeks ago to pick up a tin of pellets, and ended walking out with a katran c , I've got to say its the best air rifle I've ever had ,all 18 pellets through a 5p pence group @ 25 metres , Lloyd and Sean @ blackpool air rifles are a great set of lads, friendly and a good laugh 👍

      Nice one Sean, that's what I'd have done (buying either a Krait or an Uragan Compact), if I could afford more than the few tins of pellets I bought. 🤣
      Great choice though.
      Cheers. Russ

    They are super smooth, accurate ,light weight, great mags with 18shot capacity in 177 and not overly expensive. I love it and think it is better looking than the Krait 😉

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh they're perhaps slightly more attractive in a conventional sense, but with my mobility issues the Krait's compact size / high performance is amazing!

    Thinking of this or Air Arms TDR. I need something that breaks down small.

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a sweet folding rifle, available in different lengths -and you can even detach the reservoir (which includes the reg'). This means you can have one cylinder for sub-12, and one for FAC.

    Can't be C for cylinder given the SC and B and L and XHP also have a cylinder. It's C for compact and the SC is short compact etc. So which is best out of the Katran or the Krait?

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From Chris @ CDR Guns...
      SC= Sub compact
      C = Compact
      CB = Compact Bottle
      BLANK = Std Cylinder
      B = Std Bottle
      L=Long (Cylinder)
      LB = Long Bottle
      ...and there's no better or worse, they're both excellent so it's personal taste, but being disabled I prefer compact bullpups as they're more portable, so the Krait's the one I prefer. 👌🤓
      Cheers. Russ

    • @MrRockstar1968
      @MrRockstar1968 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RussDouglas222 I'm in two minds whether to get a Katran or Krait or even a Brocock Pathfinder. I can't understand why Airmaks didn't design the Katran with the trigger dropped lower and or the magazine holder higher, to enable the barrel and magazine holder to come back further to where the cocking lever is, just as many bullpups do, which could have either made the Katrans more compact.

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrRockstar1968 The Katran is not a bullpup, that's why it's configured as it is.
      The Krait is a dedicated bullpup design.
      I went for the Krait myself as I love its compact layout.
      Cheers. Russ

    • @MrRockstar1968
      @MrRockstar1968 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RussDouglas222 The Brocock Pathfinder also isn't a bullpup yet it is designed with the pellet magazine flush with the cocking lever which also allows the barrel to be situated further back to enable more compactness. My point is that the Kataran has a folding stock to enable it to be more compact and that they could have redesigned the positioning of the pellet magazine and barrel to enable it to be even more compact. For example the Katran SC has a 230mm barrel and is 448mm long without the stock, yet the Borcock Pathfinder has a longer 256mm barrel yet is 416mm with the stock folded down, which is 32mm shorter than the Katran SC. This enables the Brocock Pathfinder to be even more backpack friendly. That this is due to the positioning of the pellet magazine and barrel etc, which Armarks could have done with the Katran had they repositioned the magazine slot and barrel, etc. They could have potentially got the Katran SC down to 375mm and the Katran C down to 455mm with the stock folded which would have most certainly appealed to me even more. So due to these few inches in length I'm torn between the Brocock Pathfinder and the Katran CB. Keeping in mind a silencer may need to be added too which adds a few inches to the length. If the Katran was that few inches shorter whilst maintaining the barrel length due to repositioning then I would have purchased that one immediately without question.

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrRockstar1968 It's entirely up to Brocock and AirMaks how they design their rifles, then it's your personal choice to buy whichever you prefer. 🤷🏻‍♂️ ...which is why I bought a Krait, when some folk buy a Katran or a Pathfinder.
      You should visit a gunshop and handle both (ideally including several different models of the Katran), then simply decide which you refer. 🤓

      Thanks very much Gary, I'm always honest in my reviews and articles, so no turds are polished but also I bring you as much detail as possible, and rifles like this are filled with pros and a joy to review (as you saw).
      Yep, Steve purchased this carbine from Jim at Crawley Surplus Store, and FAC versions are available. Although you won't want to fit the transfer port reducer as Steve did to improve air efficiency (supplied by Chris at UK importer CDRGuns) -if going down the FAC route.

    Hi Russ
    Another great review, while I'm not a "tactical" look fan. This is appealing. Like the ability to adjust virtually everything for a perfect fit.
    With the length of pull, it looks like a single bar, so when it's extended, does it twist slightly (loose)?
    And, importantly, can the rifle be fired with the stock folded? Obviously this would fall foul of our 12ft ruling, as it'd technically become a pistol?
    The Hugget moderator suits the looks too 👍
    Regards Snowflake 2

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep absolutely, and nope it's twin bars that the butt pad extends on (so no twist), plus the pad itself can adjust up and down.
      I extended the LOP to 375mm for my gangly arms: perfick! 👌
      Oh it's fully legal, fear not.
      Yep my Huggett mini-Magna mod was a perfect choice for this rifle, and coincidentally is the same one Steve purchased.
      Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
