The Analog Session - Ascension

- "Ascension" is the first of 4 video-clips resulting from a session held at Alexander Robotnick's studio in April 2012.
A couple of cuts were made to bring the original 20 minute session down to a 10 minute video. No adjustment to the music was made in post-production. The parts played by Alexander Robotnick and Ludus Pinsky are totally improvised, with the exception of the central break and the theme of ascending notes that gives the title to the track. These two were previously agreed upon by the two musicians. The rhythmic part and the bass line were written on the sequencer in the modular synth operated by Ludus Pinsky. Some other sequencer lines derive from the main bass line.
The computer appearing in the video was used to record the performance on 24 tracks.
The video was shot by three standing cameras. The shots made by the mobile camera were mainly used to fill in the cuts.
"Ascension" is part of The Analog Session's forth-coming album featuring Alexander Robotnick and Ludus Pinsky that will be released in November 2012 by Hot Elephant Music.

@@purelucknoskill5158 At some point mouse clicking just cannot be as inspiring as knob turning. You dont jam without hardware (digital or analog hardware, which is an utterly useless debate nowadays indeed)
Digital can equal this tho, and who cares, if you do it for the love, it makes all the difference.

The two cavemen...digging in layers of sound. All well rehearsed, though some space left for improvisation. Good atmos, real analogue feel to it. Full commitment. Love for sound.

Errr well "techo" hasn't exactly changed massively for 30+ years. This could have been, for example, an Orbital track from the early 90's. This guys tracks from the early 80's sound just as relevant now. Considering that these guys are the generation that invented the music, why wouldn't they they still make it sound sick? Their age hasn't got anything to do with it, so you bringing it up just makes you look young and foolish.

That WASP synth is a gem!
Does anyone know what settings he uses? I've been trying to get the sound on my Behringer Wasp, but have so far not been succesful.
@@EduardvanKleef There are no setting on Wasp - it's a primitive analogue synth, it changes tone constantly, often you simply cannot get "that sound" again.

Unfortunately pure analog is becoming a lost art, luckily there are a few younger musicians who love to use analog too, among them the well knows Finnish artist KEBU.
You generally master the the first equipment you use. These guys are clearly analog synth gurus, if you put them on a modern DAW they probably would prefer to go back to their synths, even though you can generate more interesting sounds using modern plug ins. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter what equipment you use, as long as you are enjoying what you do.
IM TOTALLY GOBSMACKED TILTED BY THESE DUDES ! They are SERIOUSLY good - like in EXELLENT, Dangerously good Synth-Players ! Hat´s Off (no pun int.) :-) This is trance at its very best,-
