      @@MChristian yeah I was gonna say... Just ONE of the 3 massive cases he's rocking has well over 5 k worth of gear! All said and done: Cases, PSU's & bus boards, patch cables, plus modules, THIS is easily a 20-25k setup you're looking at. And that's not counting any (potential) other audio gear not in frame: outboard mixing desk, compressor, audio interface, laptop, camera, etc. Not saying he has _all_ that extra gear, but he certainly has more than what we see in this patch, plus additional travel cases or other cases also full of modules, lol.
      And to be clear, the point of Modular is the pure unadulterated freedom to create your own 'synth' - there are LITERALLY thousands of EuroRack modules to choose from. So although this specific patch/song may sound like it could have been made/created with other less-expensive gear (or even software) - if you're thinking that; you're missing the entire point. He moves a few potentiometer (knob) positions, reroutes a few cables, and changes some sequences around, and the sounds go from pleasant & peaceful to gnarly wicked growling crunchy wonderfulness! Then past that it's poly rhythms, non-euclidian rhythms, etc, and things start to get real fun! 😬

      This Is The Sound No. Just no. There is merit to both Analog hardware and Digital plugins. Many use both, I sure do.
      The people who say “Digital is shit” or “Analog is for clowns”, are so ridiculously border-line idiotic it makes my head hurt.
      THEY BOTH ARE GREAT. I cant wrap my head around why people get so emotionally entangled in frivolous “which is better” bullshit like the Digital vs Analog debate Certain things are better than others. Its simple.

    • @yoyoyayu
      @yoyoyayu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      Lollilol... Most of the modules here are digital + the reason why people tend to prefer analog gear is because of its uncleanness. Digital sound is the closest to the real sound. Vinyl is basically crap and tape must be extremely expensive to get to 1/10 of digital noiselessness

    • @yoyoyayu
      @yoyoyayu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree that analog sounding generators are more musical but digital ones can emulate about anything these days, including self modulating imperfect analog oscillators and they offer so much more flexibility that for similar prices I wouldn't hesitate a second if I had to choose! I find that nowadays, the arguments for analog are getting more and more obsolete as code gets more complex and fast, the biggest one that remains is playability... But for sound really digital offers most control over all ;)

    • @melonenstrauch1306
      @melonenstrauch1306 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@scxmvt Sure but the point is that most people with modulars just do either 2 hour drone jams or stuff you could do with just a saw generator and a low pass. They just rely on their setups looking cool alongside their succulents and macbook air instead of asking themselves if the song actually benefits from a modular.

    • @scxmvt
      @scxmvt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@melonenstrauch1306 The modular synth community is way more creatively diverse than what you might be thinking here... And it has, in my opinion, become a very cliché statement to say that modular synth owners make none other than ambient, experimental or drone music...
      I personally know many artists whose works with modular synthesisers are very intriguing and groundbreaking on a musical and compositional level whether they might have been textural ambient artworks or heavier and more organical sounding improvised performances... The instrument's versatility is due to the endless patching possibilities it gives to their owner thus making it an extremely useful tool for music making which in a way "obliges" the musician in experimenting in various ways.

      If You know what configuration was in use it will no problem to reconnect all plugs just in place. This is very logical setup: Tone generators goes first, then modulators (LFO) for amplitude and frequency modulation, next step is filters (VCF) and envelope generator (ADSR module). For better sound You have noise generator and filters for creating some effects - from percussion to cosmic sounds. Other system is sequencer - a electronic percussion (in simplest way).

    Nicely done . . . the modular synth subculture lives and breathes.
    Many of these discrete modular functions can be accessed and patched in modular synth software engines (not just typical DAWs, but actual modular synth modelers). The artform of modular synth hasn't faded away . . . just evolving.
    I would still opt for the hardware version when possible, albeit with the budget to support it.

    He have no ideology no more. He just reorganize the energetic waves. He put order in the speech of his comrades. He knows his public, and gives them candy. Sometimes bitter candy, you have to do it, because people also get saturated of good intentions. He speaks about the destiny of your life, and the errors you have done. His critics are gambling against his own opponents. And at some point he let himself be driven more by the critics than the ideology itself, and people will get tired of his propaganda, people will get tired of his haircut, people will spot something amoral in his nose...
    It comes the day that the industrialists are no more with him, and a scandal of his private dirty life will spread through the newspapers, through the commercial institutions, through the coiffures, through the radios, through the TV channels, through the internet, through the intranet. He goes down. He looses a lot of friends but get the support of other that he didn't know. With the help of some he moves into a new stage, he joins forces with outmatched ones looking for revenge. He make alliances with old enemies. He goes to have graceful diners with them. They talk about everything less politics. Together, they create new terms to defend the same old ideologies. He dedicate himself to his family, to his wife, to his children, finally. He explore their scars. The scars that the public made on them. Also, he starts making collection of classic sportive cars, but he don't drive them, he let himself be driven by his new chauffeur. Through the times, it happens that the chauffeur becomes his best friend, he get to know all the family members from this chauffeur. He make permanent visits to them, and stay overnights. They discuss trivial matters. He recycles his energy with this sudden approach to the working-class, a class that he never really knew, but relax yourself, because this doesn't mean he his becoming a socialist, a communist, or something like that, that socialist rhetoric he used it already in the past when he entered in the political world, during his teen's. After, with his conquest of the power, even before, he is not sure, nor me, he became a republican, a democrat, a moderate, he became what others wanted him to be. He was a leader, we already know. He made a war against starvation. He ordered missiles through the post. He presented a new order, a new heartbeat. Do you know that? Can you feel it now? You ate his bread, but you payed the cheese. You may say that the money invested in that fictional projects got us all mislaid, but it's not fair for you to protest cause it was you and the ones like you that thrown him out of the tribune. You believed in the newspapers, in the TV, in the rumors, now you pay to the wind. Anyway, never-mind, you are not guilty, nobody is, we are all involved...
    So, coming back to the main personage, the falling leader, now he his nether becoming a new radical or a new republican. He still consider himself a democrat, but he don't believe in democracy, he thinks democracy came to an end after he had been off-screened from the big stage. So, what he wants to be now? Actually, he wants to have fun, that's what he wants, and he is right, all the human creatures, and not only human, have the right to have some fun, to get some joy from the non sense world. Now, after his time of drift-age, he no more enjoy the company of his old friends, that at some point wanted him to come back, the bankers, journalists, the social analysts… now he is becoming a friend of cheap philosophers, wizards and militarists… but he still keeps his approach to the family of the chauffeur, he still try to get joy from the banal conversations, he even try to speak to street walkers, he asks them where are they going, and this people tell him the truth. They tell him they are going to the work, coming back home. They tell him they are going from the work to home and from home to work. Some of them are also going to the supermarket, some don't answer, some are coming from the barber, some looking for the right boutique, trying to find that dress they saw on the Tv, in that commercial, the announcer was using it. It happen that he knows this announcer, a she, of course. An ex-presenter, now-model-and-wanna-be-actress. He asks to some friends in the circuit where she lives. What kind of parties she frequents. Soon he gets the information, and goes to meet her in that party made to celebrate doesn't matter what.

Discovering this operator reorients a system from messy, chaotic world to, over time, a symmetric and almost deterministic pattern.
