    Being a centrist , I don't understand this " whosoever are intelligent " or " are educated" ,
    I mean who decides that?
    Why always left consider themselves as the superior ?
    If you genuinely want a debate, you need to give other person space where they can put their point without shutting them off as "bhakts" "illiterate" etc.

    • @Stephensofceea
      @Stephensofceea 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There is not an educated right wing in India. They don't use scientifically sound methods to argue. No one can take those arguments seriously. You can't have a serious conversation while also believing that aeroplanes existed in Indian 5000 years ago, for example. I mean come on!

    • @chchandrahas4441
      @chchandrahas4441 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Stephensofceea Well I'd agree with you if the beliefs were baseless. There are texts dated 5000 year old by modern historians, which talk about vimanas in detail. Let us assume even if it was mythology, a thought of a flying device 5000 years ago is not normal, people get killed for that in other countries. There are many historic mysteries in our country, take the case of old temples built out of granite. History says that there was no tech back then and everything was built with chisels and hammers, but then even using the latest technology we are not able to recreate those masterpieces.

      I don't think it is so easy to judge the country based on the views these podcasts/streams get. Different videos get different views. I'm not taking any sides here but this metric seems a flawed one.
      Also you can't blame the public if such streams with politics in it get less views than streams based on cricket or the delhi takeover one. IMO, ppl like to watch such streams/podcasts for fun and entertainment and learning abt history and politics may not be as entertaining to them as 2-3hrs of continuous laughter.

    • @0nil360
      @0nil360 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@prateekranjan3453 it's definitely not a hard metric, and I'm not making judgements marked in stone, but one surely does feel disappointed when people who post absolutely shitty content, say bad movie reviews, or rants, or whatnot, people have made careers out of reactions on reactions by foreigners on content pieces like cricket clips, or standups, whereas people who have put in such level of hardwork, get so small number of views. Great podcast! I disagree with the reading of the bloomsbury issue. The same people who cancelled the book have squarely ignored the involvement of Taheer Hussain in the Delhi riots and blaming it all on Kapil Mishra, which he is involved too. They were themselves spreading propaganda and calling it a pogrom when it was clearly a communal riot. They have no leg to stand on when it comes to spreading narratives!

      Exactly and one more thing is that another book based on Shaheen Bagh written by opposite side spectrum of the Bloomsbury's cancelled book was published without any hassle. And if by go though the procedure explained by Manu.. that book should've been cancelled just like this book. But it wasn't. And I agree about the term "किताब का जवाब किताब से"... Dono books ko publish karna allow karna chahiye tha.. aise cancel karna is clearly wrong. Aur jin logo ne bhi protest kiya tha wo log kitne selective outrage karne wale hai ye sabko pata hai. And yes Tahir Hussain and Kapil Mishra both are responsible for the Delhi riots. Other than that issue this is one of the best podcast in youtube.

      @@KamalKumar-di8sb Phir aur ladayi hoti. Better hota agar dono cancel hote. Jahaan tak outrage ki baat hai, selective ya not selective yeh hum nahi decide kar sakte. Protest hai ek issue ko lekar, hame agar laga zaruri nahi hai iska matlab yeh nahi ki actual mei zaruri nahi. Even in the smallest of issues protest is a right. Haan yeh baat bhi sahi hai ki dono taraf se fir usko religion ke base pe politicise kiya gaya . Par kyuki kuch selected logo ne yeh kiya toh iska dosh baaki jo sahi grounds pe khade hai unpe kyu hi dalna. Outrage selective tha ka matlab yeh hai ki kis baaat pe outrage karna chahiye aur kis baat pe nahi iska option milta hai. Par aisa nahi hai. Logo ko pagega parreshani hai toh woh virodh karenge.

I am someone who has taken a recent liking to Indian history and would love to see him back on these podcasts again. And yes, as someone had already pointed out, you should do a separate stream with Mohak coz am pretty sure his ideologies and stories would be very interesting too. Thank you Sourabh for arranging this!

    42:15 Agree that both Hindu/Islamic Kings used religion. However, is there any equivalence between an exhortation for Jihad (a call for annihilation of all infidels and earn a ticket to heaven, if slain) and invoking religion for caste climbing and getting consecrated etc. Isn't it intellectual dishonesty to see these at par?
    For argument sake, if the only route Islam entered India was from the South (peaceful route) and there were no Sultans, no Mughals etc., though Hindu kings would have had their share of wars with each other, for territories, wealth etc - would there have been as much carnage (of Hindus) or would vast tracts of land in India been bereft of any tall temple structure constructed between 1200-1800 CE?

    1:07:08 Stitched clothes - did it not arrive into India by 2 CE? Did it arrive only later, with Islam? Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the brain behind Chanakya, who had done phenomenal research for his series had mentioned in an interview that he took care of avoiding stitched clothes in his series because it came only by 2 CE (or sometime in the 1st century)

    Hey Sorabh.. awesome stream.. I could not catch it live but just now listened to it.. couple of things I would like to share post listening to stream:
    1. I did know about Mohak but somehow never knew about Manu Pillai before today.. so it was awesome to know about this young historian.. I was amazed to see how eloquent he is... I could just listen to him for hours together.. it never ever felt that the stream was 2hrs plus...
    2. Through out the talks I too realized how lopesided our history knowledge is (and I mean this for most for whom it is based on the curriculum taught in school). I'm a Tamilian but raised primarily in North India.. I just have a basic knowlege of the history and culture of South India and mostly because of what I learn in school years. It was eye-opening to listen to Manu and realise how much I've missed of my own background. His stories and talks are now inspiring me to just take an initiative and learn more about this. As some one said History as a subject is so fascinating but somehow as young students we are not introduced to it in a likeable/ intresting manner. But better late than never. I look forward to reading all of Manu's books and look forward to more.
    3. Getting Mohak along with Manu was a great choice. it was intresting to see Mohak pick Manu's thoughts to try and relate current political/social scenario with that of events in our history...
    3. The stream just underlined the fact that since a majority of our nation has no clear knowledge of our rich history and more of "run of the mill" textbook knowlege, how easy it's for those in politics/power to distort the past and mould it to spoon feed us crap and further their agenda. A majority of so called well educated would fall for the lies so I can't imagine how it would be for others.. a good example: in the stream with Mr. Guha I was really astonished when he explained about how the ruling party has adopted Sardar Patel as their own when he did not even have any allegiance to them at all. The way the current party has been touting Sardar as their superstar icon of sorts is mind boggling when one realises the truth.
    4. Its really fab that you are doing these streams and getting a variety of guests from various walks of life. Listening to some of the guests has ignited a lot of curiousity in me to learn about so many different areas/topics. So a huge thanks to you. Looking forward to more of these streams..
    5. And finally Happy Birthday Sorabh..🎉🎉🎉 hope you have a fabulous day with your loved ones..stay healthy and safe
