Easily the saddest boss fight in the whole series, just the song is insanely emotional and heartbreaking, 358/2 Days is still my 2nd favorite of the series wholeheartedly.
I fully agree. This boss battle isn't a simple good vs evil scenario. It's a begrudging fight between dear friends over the right to exist, and in Xion's case to even be remembered. That's why I love this game. It may have some janky gameplay due to being a pre 3ds and psp handheld KH game, but the raw emotion from the narrative, and being able to see Roxas's side of the COM story is really cool.
Is a battle that there's no way out of, a battle no side wants to have a part in. But they have to not because of respect or because they are forced, but because they never had a choice. Since Roxas and Xion met, that fight was set to happen, either any of them liked it or not.

@MessyArtistguy nah, in birth by sleep everyone was accounted for in some form or another. Yes Aqua was in RoD, Terra was splintered, and Ven was asleep but they were still alive and had a great chance to come back. Xion, Xion was nearly totally forgotten and till DDD we didnt even get a hint she was coming back. And even then it was up in the air if she would return probably at all.
Vega The Matador nope idc finding out that your life doesn’t belong to you and having your reality ripped from you along with your friendships and having to destroy the one you love and not being able to trust your best friend is way worse Days has the best story
358/2 was sadder, but BBS was more depressing. There's a slight difference. Depression isn't just sadness, it's a combination of negative emotions, like anger, or frustration, for example, and that describes the ending of BBS pretty well in my opinion
