Bad photos - dark/out of focus = fakes.... Objects that never existed - rings/mugs etc.. Poor quality finish/ stampings... Genuine items were well made and finished.. Stains to age - almost always at the edges.. Fluffy cotton - sign of nylon/ synthetic materials not used in WW2 or before... Price all over the place... Genuine items usually are always around market value.. Lack of photos - genuine items will have 5 but usually many more photos.. All sharp and well lit... In summary Ebay is the ultimate fake shop.....
I find, most fakes are sold by U.S. sellers. Lots of honest European, Russian diggers out there that sell genuine relics, that most collectors ignore, because they aren't all nice and shiny. And, I appreciate that!
