Did you say 16 escort carriers, 12 cruisers and 40 destroyers in the Eastern fleet? The BPF had 9 escort carriers. I didn't know Britain had so many escort carriers unless they were swapped back and forth between the fleets.

I can find 37 escort carriers taken into RN Service during the war and that didn’t include those modified from merchant ship hulls!!
For the final invasion of Japan cancelled due to Hiroshima and Nagasaki the RN was gathering
5 fleet carriers Formidable Indefatigable Indomitable Implacable Victorious
4 Light Fleet Carriers. Colossus Glory Venerable Vengeance
6 Replenishment Carriers Striker Arbiter Chaser Ruler Slinger Speaker
3 Ferry Carriers Vindex Fencer Reaper
2 Repair Carriers Pioneer Unicorn
A total of 20 Aircraft Carriers of all types! Imagine how many aircraft!!!
Plus 4 Battleships, 11 Cruisers, 40 Destroyers 34 Frigates and Sloops and 30 submarines!
