Nice video,I was brought up in Ravenfield, lived there for 18 years then got married and moved to Thrybergh, I used to work at heath hall farm as a young lad in the summer times and i can remember it well as a working farm. The woodland you are looking at on spring lane at the back of the wall a bit further into the land and right, used to be a prisoner of war camp, sort of at the left hand side of the church going through the woods. On that wall going down it has names carved into it from the prisoners at that time.as you walk down spring lane towards the church just before the sewage works on the left,if you look right you will notice a bared gate,That gets locked up at 10 at night. He is a really nice gent who locks it up and is very polite. on going up towards the church there is a small field on your right and a steep banking, that banking used to be the railway that went to silverwood pit and the steel works long gone now though. We used to ride the train as kids and jump off when we was near home.I have had some really good times down there as a child with my mates and i could go on and on.Il leave you with this link, Ravenfield is steeped in History. Good luck to ye....www.ravenfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk/homepage/8/local-history
Enjoyed watching your video. Interesting to see. I first moved here 15 years ago. You needed to go into ‘Ravenfield Park’ and follow the path down to reach Ravenfield Ponds. You can also cross the fields from near the church to meet up with Garden Lane for a circular walk. You can also walk through the woods at the back of Ravenfield Arms to take you back down into the old village, parallel with the road route.

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to use it :D
I was born and bred a ravenfield
I think the old railway line might have had something to do with the old silverwood colliery which was nearby but I'm not 100% sure
Yep, a few other people said the same. It was indeed a line running to Silverwood
