By the grace of God, I passed my cwi with the week long seminar as my only preparation. I got my code book when the seminar started! But Ed Norman, my instructor for the seminar, was a huge asset! I couldn't imagine anybody doing any better at preparing someone for the tests.
@@ag2847 no, I was misled about the whole deal! I had never seen any material, let alone a code book, before I got in Atlanta on Sunday for the seminar. It was for sure the grace of God, because I'm not very smart!
@@djfrederick360 actually, no lol. After 3 weeks of phone calls I got my card in the mail. Sounds like you know a lot about failing weld tests, though.
Actually most welders do not respect CWIs as many were never welders (which as a welder for 24 years and a CWI for 18 I do not agree with). Having said that I too do not respect CWIs who have never welded.
Depends what test your wanting to take . API 1104 (pipeline code) or D1.1 (structural code) You can easily Google it and sometimes find a downloadable pdf book and print it out .

Probably shouldnt "one hand" the grinder, use a clamp to hold the metal and both hands on the grinder. I almost lost my thumb like that.
Me too, except I continue to do it.

American Welding Society (AWS) is actually not a company. It's a non-profit organization. They will be located all across America.
