It absolutely will help you understand the study material and test. No better experience toward becoming a CWI than having been a welder qualified to some recognized Code of Standard. Having been an experienced welder will be recognized by the welders whose work you’ll be inspecting and will tip the scales of respect a little more in your favor! Take this tip to the bank!

What are ways to gain work experience? I do 3rd party inspection, but to do the weld inspections you have to be a CWI.

no one of the CWI at my work never was a welder, you just need 5 years in industry and be able to pass test.

@@ejpatrick1950 you have to study and pass the test but to my knowledge you don’t even need experience welding, just industry experience for 5 years
