    Every time I watch these vids I learn something new... I like the way you zig zag the guitar body in the paint to get that awesome look...

    Dunno what you all talking about, i like it!
    What do you do with the Guitar after swirling? Clear coat?

  • @lindsayprendiz525
    @lindsayprendiz525 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question did you have to put borax in the water to help the paint float? Hope I get an answer I don't know how old this video is but I'm doing a guitar too but iv already messed it up once with the spray paint it dried too quick and clumped up and wanted to do this next and it looks like you had great success.

    Hello!
    I really enjoyed your presentation, or the best technique to paint your guitar, but tell me one thing What kind of paint that you put in the water? It is oil paint? It is acrylic paint? .. The result is FANTASTIC ... loved it ... please answer me, ok ?! hugs

    very cool man, came out great! So is that a big vat of water so the oil based paint doesn't blend?

  • @vickiolson1198
    @vickiolson1198 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks, there are a lot of videos showing the method, but not what is used so that is so neat. It would be a fun technique to try on other things besides guitars. Does the temp of the water need to be a special temperature?

    • @gabrielsaether8077
      @gabrielsaether8077 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it should be warm. then the paint wont stiffen up when you swirl it like the orange in this video! :)

    Good Question Did he borax the water First or Plain water Or Substitute Paint Rising Additive?

  • @Nialzzz
    @Nialzzz 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good attempt guys, one question though. Did you put borax in the water to lower the water surface tension? You may find that's why the paint hardened so fast.

    Hey dude, sorry, can you tellme the name of the colors paints? And what is the white color, its a special paint for guitars or is a simple aerosol paint? Sorry about my english but i dont speak english im from mexico and i want paint my guitar like a you. Saludos.

  • @mintycbo

    I thought it looked good.. those complaining don't have the balls to try doing something like this, buying a guitar, attempting to strip it down, dip it and then attempting to put it back together and still be playable...
    There are better paints and colors out there.. but I like it. Good job.

  • @bveracka
    @bveracka 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Part of the reason the paint dried so quickly was because you were painting in the sun. My auto-body friends always tell me to never paint in the direct sun.
    It still came-out looking sweet though!
    My question is, can you sand the finish smooth without ruining the swirl? The dip seems to make a rough surface from the different colors not mixing. Although you're going to clear-coat it, I doubt that would smooth it out. So, is the swirl sand-able?

  • @Nomadcreations

    Nothing Personal but Its so Weird a pattern Its Likable = An Actual compliment … looks Like a Christmas candy Design Of Those color combinations. Dipping Works Best with Oil base paints, I didn't Know testors model paint Was Oil. Which Place is Best/Cheapest for Humbrol Brand?

  • @DDrummerboy1901
    @DDrummerboy1901 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you you'd do me a huge favor.... I'm getting ready to do that, I bought all of the paints today (same brand) and I was just wondering...
    -How much water and borax did you use?
    -What temperature was your water?
    And
    -Did you thin the paints at all?
    If you could answer those, I'd be very appreciative.

    YA NO WHAT AS LONG AS YOU LIKE IT THAT'S ALL THAT FRICKIN MATTERS MAN! You were doing a tutorial & showing people how You do this & using whatever damn colors you wanted to correct?! It's a test and trial thing you never know what it's going to turn out like when you're doing this . I mean some people just need to shut their f---ing mouth because I don't recall you ever asking anyone if you did it correctly or not! And it looks completely crazy awesome! Great job man & please keep up the great videos on here! ❤️

    Can you tell me if you had a water heater in the tub for 78 degrees before swirling? And is this project also done with borax? I have tried with borax many times and the paint came off the second time like a film and didn't stick to crap. The first time the paints (that I had thinned from larger rustoleum oil based paints) stuck but ran down smearing all together..but at least it wasn't a filmy mess. What am I doing wrong pleeeease . THank you soooo much from anyone who can help me please win my 10 year old's vote of approval. Single mom with a very artistic son so I boys need all the help they can get! Please y'all? Thank you for your time.

    The ultimate hippie guitar.

  • @JayradIceVains
    @JayradIceVains  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @dtkourt1995 I sanded the guitar down smooth to bare wood ( Optional ). You only have to sand off the top layer of paint. I used a couple cans of white primer so that the colors would be brighter after the guitar-swirling. I also sanding in between coats to retain smoothness. Thats it basically, If you do this make sure you add 1.5 tablespoons of borax for every gallon of water used. Make sure the water is 72 - 78 Degrees Fahrenheit.

    There are too many cruel, rude comments on here. The result is not that bad, especially for a backyard job. Personally, I'd have used fewer colours, and complementary ones. Perhaps red, blue, yellow and purple - not black!
