Most excellent. I love how what shows on the surface and what lurks just beneath can be very different... plan as you will, direct the placement of colors and swirls, but randomness and fluid dynamics have the final word. And it comes out awesome! Well done. "Where's all the yellow disappearing to?" (sounding a bit let down) "It's very black and red, actually." (guitar comes out, yellow everywhere) "Where's the *red* gone?" Complexity strikes again!
I like it how it has the little psychedelic touch, while other videos are just straight metal with black and red, but you added a third color. Really nice
Looks great! I've done a few of these for myself. I put the body in the water & then put the paint in the water & pulled it through the colors. It saved me from having to use borax in the water.
i used a proffesional spray gun,u can purchase this in a can though just apply several coats all over. The art of getting a super high gloss mirror finish is the sanding down and buffing after the swirl has been done, which we do on a polishing machine.Once you put the clear coat on the wood it will be sealed therefore the wood isnt going to breath,go to MrDean2005 to see some finished guitars cheers!!!
The white did not affect the paint we just didnt put enough red in to complete the swirl! All guitars that we have done have all had a white base to start with cheers!
I'm not an expert at this stuff but i saw no one replied to your question so imma give it a shot, i believe it's because if paint gets inside the screw holes it becomes difficult to get the screws in again, also it could just be because they wants to screws to be painted too so there werent random silver screws in the midst of the awesome paint job
Amazing work!!! I've a Squier Stratocaster Affinity and changed the strings for the first time yesterday with Fender 250R 10/46, this guitar sound really great for the price. Congratulation from Belgium for your wonderful work!!!! Stratlover ;-)
@MrDean2005 Legend. I've had a go.. I will go back a few steps and try again. Got lumps and drips. I guess it's trial and error to make sure the right amount of paint is in the tub.
I think the yellow affected the red, that's why it became pinkish. It diluted a little bit of the red because of the value of the yellow. By the way I didn't knew this kewl process of painting the guitar!!
oil based paint. dip the guitar slow enough and only the paint will stick to the primer because oil and water repel each other. the paint floats on top and is the first to come in contact with the guitar. basic high school physics. An excellent idea and the outcome is awesome.
No not at all!! Not submerged long enough to do any damage. Go to my youtube channel MrDean2005 and you will see finished Swirled guitars being played make yor own mind up!!
I'm an guitarist and have had paint jobs done a few time , but that is fuckin good , I'd love to find out more , very effective , respect !!!!! Shane , Cambridgeshire ....
You really need to clearcoat to seal the paint + it gives the guitar a really beautiful finish!! Go to MrDean2005 to see some finished guitars with fittings and hardware cheers!!
Wow. You're good. I water marble my fingernails which isn't difficult but it is time consuming. I used to marble paper when I was a kid. It's fascinating watching it being done to a guitar.
I can't tell if you're yelling at me, but all I know is you're really good at swirling guitars, and it's kind of like watching a show when you prepare the paint in the water.
Seems like a good solution to removing the paint off the water surface before pulling it out would be some sort of "fence" on top of the water, like they use to stop oil slicks, on a smaller scale that has a little gate you could open and navigate the neck of he guitar through. A little paint would flow through that gate, but you could quickly remove it. Would speed up removal of the guitar from the water.
Great job on that. I've seen plenty of other people do it and they just pour a bunch paint on the water, mix it around randomly. It ends up looking like they went to an all you can eat buffet, came home, puked on the guitar and called it a day. Ibanez would be proud.
that's how it's done. this technique is use to paint alot of stuff (including nails :))) ). and works very well if you are interested in this sorts of models
Damn you're professionals bout time i found a channel with people that actually know what they do instead of someone doing a piss poor job that results in ruined guitar and waste material.
that looks incredible, excellent colour for swirls
Swirling paint is unreal. What a fantastic technique. With body blanks available, you can do amazing things.
Very smart by putting the screws in the holes to keep the water out... Every time I watch these vids I learn something new...

This is just mind blowing, ridiculous amount of character in that guitar in my opinion.
This is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen man.
I would pay a shit load of money to have this done to my SG.
I like it how it has the little psychedelic touch, while other videos are just straight metal with black and red, but you added a third color. Really nice
There is something amazingly therapeutic and totally relaxing watching these...love it!
I've watched like 3 of these, absolutely freaking awesome. Take my money now.
Looks great! I've done a few of these for myself. I put the body in the water & then put the paint in the water & pulled it through the colors. It saved me from having to use borax in the water.

@tomanystars Possibly!! but i think i just didnt put enough red in in the first place.
That is unbelievably cool!
Yes clear coat and polish!
The end result looks great!
We put screws in to stop any water from dripping out once it was pulled out of the water!!
Simply gorgeous!!

Guitar body was sanded so there were no inperfections ie digs, holes etc then primed white, then sanded again before swirl was applied!!
Just truly amazing!
Yes you can swirl a finished guitar, obviously take all part off, sand, prime then swirl!!Cheers
This is so incredible! didnt know you could do this. would like to see a Les Paul get swirled.

Great work !
