    Big news from Avet Reels! They have discontinued the G1 reels. At the same time, they have discontinued Neptune's Heart from the G2 reels. They added five colors to the G2 series so now you can get any of the SXJ-LX reels in blue, black, gold, green, gunmetal, pink, purple, red and silver! They have also added a new version of the G2 referred to as G2 No Glide Plate. This reel is the same as the G2 in every way except it does not have the upgraded lever drag system. J&H will not be carrying this model as we feel it creates customer confusion. Get the regular G2. It's a better reel and the lever drag system is awesome! If you have questions about Avet Reels, leave a comment.

    What an incredible marketing disaster by Avet 🤦‍♂️

    Did u really just say that the ONLY difference is the glide plate same drag then turn right around and say that it’s a better drag system and I have better control over the drag?!?!...

    No glide plate is the way to go. There's nothing like trying to push the button on the glide plate while fighting a fish and loosing the fish because you can't put the button. No glide plate you just push the leaver to full with no button.

    • @RuggedSportsmen
      @RuggedSportsmen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting, if you cant push in the lever that means you cant increase the drag. If your setting at strike is set right you shouldnt lose the fish. No guide plate could potentially be a problem if you get excited and push past strike when the fish first takes the bait resulting in higher drag than you want at strike.

      precisely the point & right way to use the drag….funny some people equate the lever drag with the star drag where they can just increase the drag on the fly..

    • @dylanclay2741
      @dylanclay2741 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lever drags aren't designed to be fished on full drag thats a latch ditch effort if you're about to get spooled. If you set the strike setting right you won't have that problem. I've never used anything past strike

      Glide plate makes sense on heavy tackle, but no place whatsoever on SX or MX size reels. One thing in particular, glide plates suck up salt particles and are a haven for corrosion. Ridiculous feature on reels that carry max drag about 20 lbs. And completely unnecessary when most guys are loading these small reels w/ 40 - 60 lbs braid. So, accidently going to max drag shouldn't be a problem. And another thing, if it is a casting reel "MC" ... the lever is going to be smoother and faster to operate in and out of free spool without clicking through all the glide plate notches.

      @@ClambellyI have 2 mxls and disagree completely. Glide plate is way better in my opinion, and if you rinse your reels off after every use and clean them you won't get any corrosion. Seems it's inexperienced anglers in these comments that all hate the glide plate

    Thanks for explaining. I would still highlight this as much as possible in your product descriptions. With the price difference, other vendors may seem like better prices.

    Does a G2 with the GP still work if I remove it myself? Im one of those wackos that like reels without the glide-plate.

      Just got a SXJ G2 w/ plate. Loaded it with 50 braid, 25 mono top shot. I’m gonna use it for kayak fishing and on the sport boats for smaller Tuna, dorado, yellow. Already had a G1 MXL mc, G1 MXL, and a LX Raptor. I’m so ready for this season🤘

    lol…anybody who pushes the drag lever all the way to full on the fly need to educate themselves on the function of a lever drag…for a starter, set your appropriate drag on your leader on strike which is 25-30% of your leader line pound test…if you wanna play your drag to full while on fish then get a Star drag reel insted..jmho.

      Also another tip for beginners when you adjust your strike drag NEVER adjust it while lever is on strike. Always do it in free spool . Doing it In strike will damage the reel

      I own both an Avet with the glide plate and one without. The glide plate gives you way more control over the drag. You're able to make micro-adjustments in the middle of a fight without taking your eyes off the fish. It's the best $25 upgrade that Avet offers.

    Bad decision to get the G2 with glide plate. Because you have to push the button to go from strike to full what a waste of time no glide plate is the way to go you're spreading false information in reference to a glide plate being the better of the choice
