The best thing about Avet reels to me is they are not only bulletproof, but they are super simple to maintain. It's a 15 minute maximum process to completely disassemble these reels and service them. Super simple. I've put Boca bearing abec 7 ceramics in a few of my Avets and it's an awesome upgrade. I say that because Josh over at J&H has Avet bearing kits for sale that I believe are the ceramics with stainless shields. I personally like the orange rubber seal but both are awesome upgrades to Avet reels.
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
This is going to be exciting Victor. Perhaps you could do a video on loading up these Reels or indeed how you prepare your Equipment. Steve in Scotland.
Land shark Fishing + AVET reels = madness! Congratulations on the sponsorship man Landshark nation is growing extremely fast... super happy about that.
Thank you for this video homie, as a freshwater fisherman learning each year more and more about saltwater fishing (I want to be closer than 4 hours from the ocean one day) the information you provided really helped me understand more about two speeds and more conventional style reels. The info may seem second nature to you but it really helped me understand. Thanks again brotha.
Avet is my favorite reel. I use sx raptor, mx mc and hx 2 speed. I used them when I fished from a kayak and piers/bridges, now that I have a boat I love them more. Proud of you and glad to see your growth in your business.
J&H is my favorite tackle store being from Long Island. Glad you were able to make a deal with them. One of my favorite youtubers sponsored by my favorite tackle shop is a win win!
BRO!!! Can't wait to see the videos you post using those 30s and Raptors! Those are two reels I'm saving for right now. Fishing for tuna in the Bahamas is definitely on the bucket list! Congrats on the new sponsor! AVET Reels are the BEST!
I have owned many types of Penn International, Fin nor, shimano, accurate, Cal (blue printed) and AVET reels. By far the best of the best reel is AVETs. I actually traded someone one of my AVET for their Accurate Boss plus some cash, clearly the other guys got a better deal as I couldn't wait to get rid of the Accurate after about a month.
I've never used an accurate reel mostly because of their high price and I always thought that accurate was the top reel on the market but I love the durability and the price range on the Avet reels. I'm actually thinking about getting an Avet MC reel for sturgeon & striper & possibly sharks & ling cod. What reel would you recommend?
I just bought my first Avet SXJ reel after being let down by chinese made reels over the years and boy are they awesome. Really good to know that there are still quality made in usa products out there.
And the craftsmanship shows on these reels! The machining is first class on these reels. Other than Japan, it's not easy to find such good craftsmanship. Particularly when you open one up you see just how well made these reels are. Best part is they're not even that expensive really.
J and h is my local shop I just got a avet mxl g2 on a shimano trevala butterfly. It’s gonna be used for jigging anything from porgy to fluke to strippers Everyone in there was awesome and it was the nicest tackle shop I’ve been in on Long Island
I go out on the Gambler ever year here in NJ for my. For small tunas under 50lb I use the MXL 6/4 MC Raptor and Avet MXJ 5.8 MC, for 60-80-100 lb tuna I use the Avet HX 5/3 MC Raptor matched to a Black hole Cape Cod spiral wrapped rod. All my conventional reels are Avets. Avet are great for us women. they are lighter, smaller, just as if not more powerful than the other reels plus they hold more line in comparison. all my Avet are on Kevin Bogan custom rods except the EXW, that one is on the Seeker custom spiral wrapped rod. Will be switching that reel out for put my soon to get Avet Pro EXW 50/3 Three Speed Reel for Swordfishing plus and put the EXW on another KB custom rod.
I've actually dealt with Josh before, as I live up here in the Northeast. Good guy to deal with. I use a few Avet reels as well. Great products. Hope you enjoy all those beauties.
Hey Vic, I was wondering if you could make more videos about pier fishing. What types of rods and reels to use. Different rigs for what species and what tackle and or live bait. Thanks.
1.what does the Raptor designation mean? 2. What does the MC designation mean? 3 What is the difference between LX & HX & etc... 4 is there a HXW RAPTOR MC?
Nice job landing those babies!! Keep up the great videos and thank you and Brooke for tips on the water and on the grill!! Gonna try and get an Avet before Nov...headed to Marathon for a week to fish.
Congrats... I have an SX Rap, JX Rap, 2 HXJ raptors, and 2 LX 6.0's. The JX Raptor is the most versatile reel I own, hands down.... perfect for bottom fishing, jigging, and pitching live baits. I'm going to sell the two LX's and replace with JX 6.0 MC's. I've been spoiled by the magnetic cast control. My buddy tried to pitch my LX at a cobia and it mega backlashed AND the cobe ate the bait and instantly broke off.... You NEED to do the blue marlin drag update to the LX's..... it's a MUST
I have two of those avet lx 6.0 and I’m looking to buy two more!!! I love them I have 4 custom rods and I’m looking to use them to troll this summer in the Bahamas and kite fishing. They are killer!!!
No need to, Shimano Talicas will outlast most avets and yes there are some old avets like his pink one but I bet it’s rough and definitely needed crazy maintenance, you just can’t use them to it’s fullest bc something will break. Especially in the price range, nowadays there is such better options out there imo
Yeewwwwwwww Fishing Cali style in Florida! Hopefully you can come down here and experience what it’s like Fishing in SoCal! Gotta actually work for fish!!!
Have a bucket of lx 6:1 in pieces used them on my charter boat, all broke with in a year. I tried to buy parts for them from Avet charged my card 3x's and I never got the parts that was like back in 2007. I still have and use a set of ex 40 wides they no longer make, they have caught literally tons of fish over the years. Get a little pissed off every time I pass by the $800 bucket of broken lx 6:1's Glad you got em for free. Hopefully they redesigned the back reel lock when the teeth break off the shaft and that handle comes around with a big fish on it it will break your hand. I had them let go on customers. Had 65lb braid on em and used them for jigging. I now only use Penn torque's for jigging. In 2009 I was on the cover of FS mag and when we did the cover shoot the Penn guys and Williamson jig/ rapala guys came fishing that week as well and they gave me 4 penn Torque 30's and 50lbs of jigs. I still use them today and have never even taken them apart and cleaned or greased them. If you ever want to fish out of New Smyrna beach give me a shout I don't charter anymore but still fish. I can show you a few big ones. Peace like the vids going to do some YfT fishing off the Bahamas this summer as well.
Sorry to hear! An LX with 65lb braid is asking for it IMO, it only puts out 20lbs of drag in full. Not the ideal jigging reel but great live bait reel in the 20-30lb mono class. Email me and let's fish!
awesome video man. i agree that meeting the right person always helps and those review videos really helps especially wen u r uncertain about the product plus the pricing of it as well.
Help please.... I'm looking to purchase two Avet LX 6/3 MC(discontinued models). I may run across some yellowfin upwards of 120#. I know the 20lb max drag is sort of stretching it a bit, but I don't have the $ for the Raptor. Was going to spool with 65lb. braid, and 100lb. mono top shot. Am I out of my league? Also, which 6'6" rod would you pair with? Thanks
at 2:04 i do the same thing when i look up... say a penn senator 6/0. I want to see how big it is so I will look it up and scroll through images to find one of it in someone’s hand
Hey man great video of a question for you? I’ve been getting more and more into thresher fishing off of local piers most of the threshers that of been landed lately have been in the hundred to 120 pound range which one of these reels would you recommend
Hey Vik, I'm in WPB and I do pretty well from the surf for blacktip/bulls/lemons. I want to get an avet to add to my collection to fish the beach do you have a suggestion? Currently I use St. Croix mojo surf with a daiwa BG and a St. Croix Avid with a saragosa if that gives you an idea of what I'm used to. I want to leave the spinner world
PENN fathom ld2, SEiGLER lg (which all SEiGLER reels have lifetime warranty) so check those out before Avet, also for more money Shimano Talica, accurates, or Okuma makaira 👍
Hey man - let me know if you wanna talk about LR fishing out of San Diego. I started going last year and going on an 8 day and 10 day this year. I'd also encourage you to check out Fred Hall in Long Beach.
I know this is old, but maybe you will see and respond. Was looking at the Lx but was thinking about using for bottom f I shing. Would I be better off getting the 4.6 rather than 6.0 gear
Thanks for responding. Both your and Brooke ' s channels rock. Live in ormond beach and would be useing for red snapper when they decided to open and mangoos, triggers and stuff. Have different trolling gear for further offshore. So would just use for the bottom. Think I should go with the 6.o?
I’m all about American made, but I’m not impressed with the Avets. I had 4 HXWs and I sold them because the drag isn’t consistent when a fish is peeling drag. Land shark Fishing + AVET reels = madness!
Congratulations on the sponsorship man Landshark nation is growing extremely fast... super happy about that.
Thank you Kade!!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on fishing with us!
I love my Avet LX! I have it loaded up with 30lb mono and a Connley rod and use it for bottom fishing in south FL.
This is awesome Viktor. I like how you truly understand that hard work will pay off. Put in the time and reap the rewards!
Thank you and thats all it is, put in work over time and get results with anything in life.
Landshark Fishing Happy for man! If you’re ever in the Panhandle hit me up!
Avet is my favorite reel. I use sx raptor, mx mc and hx 2 speed. I used them when I fished from a kayak and piers/bridges, now that I have a boat I love them more. Proud of you and glad to see your growth in your business.
Thank you Dennis! SX raptor sounds deadly.
Living the fisherman's dream! Wish i could afford that type of gear! Congrats. Thanks for the content.. always learning from it
Put in the work, get the results!
J&H is my favorite tackle store being from Long Island. Glad you were able to make a deal with them. One of my favorite youtubers sponsored by my favorite tackle shop is a win win!

Agreed! Wouldn't want any other conventional reels in my arsenal! Accurate are highly overpriced IMO for what you get!

Christmas came early! Congrats, I'm a fan of you and Brooke. 👍
Congratz Vik you deserve the sponsorship and you’ve got great fishing morals
Thank you!
Total agree I bought 3 reels from them. They answered all questions promptly...great service...you had me at hell-o

The JX, MXJ, and SXJ are the primo reels here on the left coast for yellowtail, bass, halibut, etc.
I would be in heaven opening up a box of avet reels like this damn !!!!!
I've actually dealt with Josh before, as I live up here in the Northeast. Good guy to deal with. I use a few Avet reels as well. Great products. Hope you enjoy all those beauties.

Can you make a reel and pole combo giveaway
Please we would all enjoy for you to do one
1.what does the Raptor designation mean?
2. What does the MC designation mean?
3 What is the difference between LX & HX & etc...
4 is there a HXW RAPTOR MC?
Those reels are effing bullet proof and super smooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice job landing those babies!! Keep up the great videos and thank you and Brooke for tips on the water and on the grill!! Gonna try and get an Avet before Nov...headed to Marathon for a week to fish.

I have fished in the Caribbean Sea and here in south Florida and I don’t change my shimmano Talica for Avet

Thays avet sponsor doeeee👌👌
Love the look of those reals
Yeewwwwwwww Fishing Cali style in Florida! Hopefully you can come down here and experience what it’s like Fishing in SoCal! Gotta actually work for fish!!!
Got to LOVE an all American reel, made in the USA
Always support American made products!
I so want one of the reels for pike fishing
I caught my biggest pike ever on an sxj 5.3 (non raptor), brought it in with no problems. Good for big lures and bait.
I wish I had a 1/4 of your energy!
Have a bucket of lx 6:1 in pieces used them on my charter boat, all broke with in a year. I tried to buy parts for them from Avet charged my card 3x's and I never got the parts that was like back in 2007. Had the same thing happen to me!! Well besides the 3x thing ouch, Sucks man I know, but good choice with PENN 👌
And I was using 30 pound braid so wasn’t bc of line
What do you think of the lx6/3 mc raptor for pier and surf fishing with the occasional trolling??? And btw great video.
Great review man...would definitely like to put them through their paces although Avent are a bit hard to come buy in my part of the world
Uhhh. I’m making a jigging rod and I reallly want one of these reels. They would be perfect!
You deserve more subs keep up the good work
awesome video man. i agree that meeting the right person always helps and those review videos really helps especially wen u r uncertain about the product plus the pricing of it as well.

Have they changed the way it shifts to low gear ? I fished some old ones yesterday that shifted different , I really liked the two speed option
Josh is legit!!! Yes
at 2:04 i do the same thing when i look up... say a penn senator 6/0. I want to see how big it is so I will look it up and scroll through images to find one of it in someone’s hand
In between the LX and the EX is the HX. In south Florida could I use an HXW for planer fishing? Or would I be wishing I went with the EXW?
Notification Squad... ASSEMBLE!
So what kinda fish can I expect to catch with a EXW 30 and a EX50? I have a 30-80 pound class rod that has all roller guides
Congrats on the sponsorship Viktor!
I love ur vids Vic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which one would you use to reel in a land shark lol on the beach?
Do a surf fishing video and use your daiwa bg with the tsunami trophy rod!! I have one gold avet and i will be using avets forever
Cool & Congratulations!
Hey man great video of a question for you? I’ve been getting more and more into thresher fishing off of local piers most of the threshers that of been landed lately have been in the hundred to 120 pound range which one of these reels would you recommend
what avet reels or other brand reels could you recommend for surf fishing in miami
what trips you plan on going out on out of cali? you gonna be at the Fred Hall show coming up in a few weeks?
Will not be at the Fred Hall and I have yet to pick trips, but def going to get out there. Any recommendations?
Wow, that’s awesome, good vid 👍🏻
Thank you!
West Coast Reels the best!
Love the videos bro
why no HX raptor. i put them into the same class and the EX, just less capacity
Hey Vik,
I'm in WPB and I do pretty well from the surf for blacktip/bulls/lemons.
I live on Long Island and j and h is the best tackle shop on LI
Nice video those are some nice reels
Hey man - let me know if you wanna talk about LR fishing out of San Diego. I started going last year and going on an 8 day and 10 day this year. I'd also encourage you to check out Fred Hall in Long Beach.
Hate to break it to you but aluminum is far from bullet proof, Great work on the vids ; )
What rod are you paring the raptor with? And J&H tackle is a great place to shop.
On a Connley Rod Jigging Stick, and the other Raptor Idk yet!
Badass reels my man
Thank you man!
I’m trying to find a reel that can pull up a 300 pound grouper what’s the best settup? I haven’t found anyone really talking about it
Freaking brilliant! That is a beautiful set of reels. Well done.
Not good bang if it doesnt have guide attachment..i dont want to guide my line into the spool manually while fighting a fish
Victor what do you think about okiaya fishing rods? Have you used them?
Never heard of them tbh!
Thank you!!!
Nice set love my avets
What is Avet reel for surfcasting ?
Do a up dated rod and reel arsenal
I know this is old, but maybe you will see and respond. Was looking at the Lx but was thinking about using for bottom f I shing. Would I be better off getting the 4.6 rather than 6.0 gear
4.6 more power but 6.0 is more versatile
Thanks for responding. Both your and Brooke ' s channels rock. Live in ormond beach and would be useing for red snapper when they decided to open and mangoos, triggers and stuff. Have different trolling gear for further offshore. So would just use for the bottom. Think I should go with the 6.o?
Does Avet have spinning reels cos all I see are like baitcaster reels?
U should do a video when U spool up a Penn slammer 3 10500
It's posible to use the big green avet's for trolling with only #50 mono targeting wahoo dolphin and marlin?
The blue avet how change line of 0.70mm
Great reels
I love J&h
I’m all about American made, but I’m not impressed with the Avets. I had 4 HXWs and I sold them because the drag isn’t consistent when a fish is peeling drag. You eventually have to thumb it no mater how tight or loose it is. I’ve heard the same story from other people after the fact. No knock on landshark, but I’m just letting other people know before they buy
I do love your clips
Do you know where I can find a T bar handle for an avet lx raptor please.
What be a good avet for cat fishing have seen a few guys using them but never can figure out the model or type
They wouldn't be bad, not familiar with cat fishing but if your asking if I recommend them overall then yes haha.
Landshark Fishing we target larger trophy side flat heads and blue catfish over 40 lb.. was asking what model avet recommend? Or someone to get ahold of to get more info
Impressive. But that's way out of my ballpark. Everything you've used lately is like in the thousands of dollars and I can afford it but I rather go on vaca. I'm an apprentice with Penn's and pin fish from piers lol.
Nice avets Vik!
If your not going out on a long range maybe your down for a short 1.5 day for jumbo blue fin!? I ended last year with a #211 :P
Email me
Love your videos
Thank you LEE
Very impressive.
I do like your idea
