Boy the quality and sizes of the meats you got sure are not as small and crappy as what they sent us. We felt ripped off and Good Chop ripped us too. Really in a bind and it seems like they send out really good boxes to their reviewers and those farm family channels that endorse them. While sending us regular folks the left overs. I'm so confused as to why they do this to us???
Good Morning :) I'm not an "official" reviewer for any of these companies. Just a fan of mail order meat and supporting small ranchers. However, I have complained about the quality of what I have had received to two of these companies and on both instantly offered to a full refund or replacement. I haven't ordered from Good Chop yet. Hope you find a company that you are happy with!
I might have just missed it but how much did the collection of meat cost in total from thrive market? Im considering getting a subscription but we want to make sure we're getting the best deal. This was the best video I've seen yet on it btw!
@@FreeRangeFisherman for the quick reply I'ma subscribe too. If you find any subscriptions/websites for less popular quality meats like eel please post!
Depends what you are looking for and how much freezer space you have. My favorite cut is filet. When they have them on sale, I stock up and you can't beat the price.
I used to be with Crowd Cow for a couple of years and in the beginning prices were good and there was a large variety of meats, after a while most of it wasn't available anymore and choice was very poor, their chicken was never good, skin always smelled rancid and what was left there doubled in price, majority at that point was Wagyu beef at 100 dollars and up (some cuts were over thousand dollars). Their steaks had a lot of gristle. I finally quit and signed up for Butcher Box. I didn't like their chicken legs, they were giant, from old chickens and tough, Brisket was also tough. Salmon was so thin and totally void of fat that no matter how I cooked it, it was always dry. I have another box coming soon but no more salmon or brisket. Getting mostly steaks and pork butt, added some Niman Ranch sausage and scallops. Will see.
Thanks for the comments! The Waygu is fun for a treat ;) I agree that ButcherBox is probably the best bang for your buck. Have you tried any other companies I should check out? I get advertised Good Chop all the time recently....
You and I have had the same bad luck buying from these bulk supposedly small farmers. I've tried 3 companies so far and only 1 sent me a great box the first time, then ripped me off big time the next 2 orders I put in. I'm really confused on how to get decent meats that don't cost a fortune while supporting real ranchers. Sick of getting ripped off! We are elderly and on a fixed disability income. I found a butcher shop here in Nashville, TN that I want to check out that is supposedly selling from their own farm. I am basically homebound, but I am going to see if I can manage to get my husband to take me there to see what they offer and if we can afford it.
Man.. i dont waste a single thing when i buy sirloin tips. Id definitely rather spend $250 and burcher my own meat and have a months worth of meat, being a carnivore.
@@FreeRangeFisherman I started with 99.00 box and free shipping, than you had to get 149.00 to get free shipping but at this price it wasn't very much food. And prices doubled and most cuts are gone. Quality wasn't great either.
6 months in a row with bad orders. Everything from their delivery service (UPS) demolishing the box and throwing it back in dirty with warehouse floor grit and dirt on busted packages to improperly sealed packaging from butcherbox themselves. Today is the last straw. Opened a pack of meat that I thawed out in he fridge and it wreaked like days old road kill left out on the side of the road in the summer. I will never order another box of this shit again. Beware, they may actually be using road kill. At this point I wouldn't put it past them.
I'd never heard of these services before this video, so I decided to check out the websites. I could not figure out how to put together an order on Butcher Box or Thrive Market. The Butcher Box get started page leads to a page asking for an email address to access a promo for free lobster tails and small steaks in the first order, but no way to just start putting stuff into a cart. Thrive Market was worse; the get started page leads to a quiz. No option to just go pick the stuff I want and put it into a cart, a quiz. Crowd Cow, however, did allow me to just start shopping without trying to mine me for personal info. None of the premade boxes were what I would want to buy myself, but one was close enough. I compared the price of the components of that $199 grillmasters box to what the same stuff would cost me at Albertsons or Cash Wise, and the cost is almost exactly double. Sure, you get the convenience of home delivery, but Cash Wise, Albertson's, and Wal Mart are all on my way home from work and I get to pick exactly what I want for half the price, and it's a half hour detour. So yeah, definitely not for me.
The quality of the meats we have been able to get at the stores here in Nashville, TN lately are just horrible! The steaks look like you could read the newspaper through them now. And tough as an old bull that should have been put out to pasture. I had a great experience with only one of these online farm companies...very fresh like beef used to look, smell, and taste. I was very excited and enjoyed it very much. So much so I ordered all steaks the next order and it was shockingly horrible! Just like they had stopped at Kroger on the way to the house. I had a deal on 4 orders to save $ through a trusted farm family that I watch and watched him and his wife cook and eat on their channel. They get all good stuff each time. The Eddy Family Farm. But they sure ripped us off. And they supposedly stand by their product. NOT~they only wanted reviews and more orders from me. Good Chop is not one I would suggest! Nor is Butcher Box or Omaha Steaks (that used to be so good that it was a Christmas gift each year between our family members). I sure wish we could afford to go in on a 4th of a steer from a local farmer/rancher. But they are all too expensive. I hope you find a way to thrive better than we have.

First butcher box order comes today. Interested to see its value.
Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think!
@@FreeRangeFisherman first order had a busted bag of chicken breast. Got a credit for my next order. I may do another order. Not sure yet.

What happened today?
Great review
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

Before any discounts and promotions the frozen meat box was $149 except for the wagyu steak that was an additional $23. Thanks for watching!

Which one did you like the best? Which one had the best tasting food?
I think I prefer ButcherBox overall. Trying some of the waygu from crowdcow is fun though.
I haven't been able to find any info on the cost difference between buying it from this and the grocery or even costco

@lorenrobertson8039 Sorry to hear about the bad luck. It is unfortunate for the lack of consistency you have experienced 😞
"a lot" of freezer burn or "any" freezer burn??
Not very much at all.
You forgot to mention the hot dogs you dropped on the floor
I found them later. Thanks!
Which one looks the best?
I'll let you know when I figure it out? 🤣
Butcher box is cool

I wish I had butchering skills!
Are you trying to say that that whole Crowd Cow box was 149 dollars? No way! At least twice that much
Did they change the base price of your first Crowd Cow box? I'll have to check and get back to you. Thanks for the fact check!
Just saw your other comment. I got sucked into the new olive waygu... it was on sale. I'll let you know how it goes ;)

Sounds like you need a bigger freezer! 😉

How could somebody with a name like baloney pony fail to mention what company they’re talking about?

Meat is Murder
Meat is delicious
@samhollan4550 meat is murder of sentient beings
Some liberal put that in your head
So lions, dogs, wolves, hyenas, sharks, eagles (etc) are all murderers? You sound ridiculous
Oh my God, you have convinced me. I will never eat meat again. Just f****** with you. I'm eating meat right now.😅
