Actual good bacon is so hard to come by. Going to have to try some of this Magic Bacon for sure! Love this comparison between the ButcherBox vs. local butcher. Also learned a ton about cooking these items certain ways that I never knew about. Thanks for an awesome video!
It really really is! You’re gonna love it! This video was originally around 25 mins but I cut out a bunch of other little tidbits about US grass fed farmers. But if you’re into that kind of thing, check out White Oak Pastures!
Last year when we visited Erie Gordon's/Firestone's/Paris' Cap & Cork was easily our favorite stop! Left with a nice treasure chest of meats from Gordon's, grabbed a nice lunch and a Diablo Sausage and Shroom pizza to go from Firestone's and some beers I have problems finding back home from Paris'. Now I love a good thick cut chop, but for a standardish size cut those premium chops, among other items, spoiled us big time. Definitely need to plan another trip up soon. I have never used Butchbox or anything similar, but my butcher here sold his shop a little ways back, and overtime it's just not the same anymore. So while I am searching for a new one I'll certainly place an order with Gordon's. Great video, brother!
Yes!!! I know you loved your tripS to Gordon’s and Firestones!!! It’s like candy land! I’ve heard some good things about some other butchers in your area as well. Which box ya gon get? Sampler plus extra chops?
My order just arrived yesterday. Everything looks great, and I plan to rock some premium chops tonight. Just a tip for anyone who plans on placing an order and having issues; It appears you can only order items for delivery from the Butcher Block, and the only other exception, that I noticed, was the Premium Chop Box, which isn't on the Butcher Block page, but can be found with a search. Every time I tried adding items such as extra premium chops, bone in rib eyes, and a couple of other products I tried, my order was flagged at check out as "Shipping not available for selected address" . Now It's quite possible that I was doing something wrong, but once I removed the additional items, and was down to "Box" Items, my address became valid and I was able to check out. This was a minor disappointment and a little frustrating trying to figure out hat the issue was. That said, I have tried the premium chops, a variety of their steaks, as well as some of their sausages ( the ghost pepper cheddar is 🔥🔥🔥) and I can say with certainty that the products are high quality, and worth the price, especially with the BEERGR coupon code.
Thank you so much. I just ordered the “Try Prime” Ribeye box and a T-Shirt. Using your discount code it was less than $120. I appreciate you very much. Can’t wait to get those Ribeyes on my grill. 😁😁😁
My fine dining BNQ Chef just got some beautiful ramps for $100/p and morels for $50/p that would go great with that steaks or bacon you could make some boujee tacos (we have a lot of fancy taco bars banquets in the bar they don’t use and then the next day have a fancy wine dinner in the atrium litterally right down the hall 😂)
Florida local groceries hardly carry prime, when they do its $39-45 for 1lb and I can't really tell it's prime, so unless is a good day at Whole Foods, local butchers are much better in Miami
Grass fed is better than grain fed due to the high omega 6's from grain fed beef, which can lead to heart disease. So actually a more healthier option if you can't find grass fed locally.
@@BeergrYT looks like it didn’t do a good job of holding in the moisture, isn’t that from sitting in the package and not being dry enough after the rest? I’m learning steaks atm and from what I’ve come to understand is they shouldn’t be that wet
@@claytonroberts1622 Well those steaks were raw, straight out of the package. The rest occurs after you cook them. It's pretty normal for a steak in a sealed package like that to have a lot of steak juice in it especially if you let it wet age like I discussed in the video. Whether your steaks come packaged like that or not, you should always dry them off with a paper towel before seasoning anyway. That will result in your seasoning making better contact with the meat as well as sticking to it.
Prime beef depending on where you are located costs anywhere from $20-$30+ per pound. These steaks are all a little over 1lb each. Factor that in with the costs of shipping perishable foods anywhere in the country and it’s actually not bad especially with my discount code. It could be cheaper where you are but that all depends
@@CrypticApathydefinitely not with chicken! I know people have dry aged pork, usually heritage breeds only but I’m not certain about lamb whether dry or wet aged. It’s worth a google search though
Let me tell you a secret...those of you that agree to become affiliates, reviewers, advertisers for them do NOT get the same poor quality meats that we regular folks get. And after that first box that is better quality they send you thin, grocery store quality meats. I wish it was not like this from these supposed farm raised grass fed products. Got ripped off by 3 different companies and I'm so done with it.
Well like I said in the video, I bought the first box and I didn't think it was worth buying a second so I can't attest to what you're saying about the ongoing deliveries. They also didn't know it was me buying the box either for what it's worth but that is certainly upsetting to hear about.

THEY DIDNT SAY THE BOX THEY GOT WAS FREE TO THEM EITHER!! LETS BE HONEST AND OPEN ABOUT BUTCHERBOX, THIS CONCEPT ISN'T NEW!! TELL IT LIKE IT IS OR DONT TELL IT AT ALL!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!

Can i ask why those steaks were sopping wet when you were showing them off around the 4:30 mark
Just the usual steak juice that accompanies steaks that vacuum sealed like those ones

Great question! Not at all as long as they are still in their sealed packages. It’s a common practice called wet aging.
