Video Boost really makes a good first impression comparable to Night Sight way back 2018. I know there are inconvenience such as longer processing times and processing through cloud, Google will invest a lot on this feature ahead in the future until these inconveniences are adressed into what we want today.
Video boost is surely a level above the competition especially in tricky situation were normal phone cameras seem to struggle. It terms of the loading time I really don't mind, you still have the option to use the normal video while it's processing, plus the vast majority of consumers don't wanna use a video straight after the shoot so it makes no difference.
Waiting 5Hrs. to process a single 30sec. video clip imo is a level above stupidity and well below common sense.
You will likely find that when Apple and Samsung copy this, the latter will soon perform this on-device. Remarkably, Google cannot achieve this, which is a big negative.
@@andyH_England Google will do it in-device too eventually
@@andyH_England until they do, you 🤫🤫🤫 also don't hold your breath cause it won't happen. Video night sight needs a high end laptop with a m processor. Mobile processors are quite powerful, bit have severe heating issues when rendering complex filters into an existing video. Long story short it won't happen for a while. The same time a server can be continuously updated with new hardware. There is a reason on cloud processing is used everywhere from gaming to professional photo and video software.
@@jevonsims900 comments like this one make me 😂😂😂. You still can use the normal video while processing and sorry to bring you back to reality but the majority of people take a video to check at some point with their friends and keep memories, not to post straight away. I know you lot are butthurt but you need to get used to it. 😂😂😂😂
In good lighting, and without digital zoom, I actually prefer Pixel videos to iPhone videos, even without the Video Boost feature.
No, iPhone is better. I had pixel 8 pro and oneplus 11, S23 ultra etc...
iPhone the best video camera. Also zoom in and out is better on the iPhone, much better.
@@FlubFlubber I disagree. I have both iPhone 14 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro today. iPhone does better videos overall but in good lighting I find Pixel videos to be better. As long as there's no digital zoom involved. Digital zooming with Pixel looks soft and muddy. I'm not talking about the zooming transition animation.
I agree with you.
@@FlubFlubber another isheep... nobody cares about your iBSheet.
When shooting during the day in bright light I just set the exposure slider to about -1.5 stops. Looks great and balances the contrast way better. At night, just shoot normally, it's amazing. Like you said, the wait time is the biggest issue but I hopefully this will get better with time.
Once again, Google is the trailblazer here with now Video Boost. This is going to be another game changer just how they change night photography with Night Sight.
Feature is for externe dark situations. Very big difference. In low light the pixel is a clear winner.
Nice video, the Boost really makes a difference!
Crazy how blue the iPhone makes everything!
and yet tech reviewers will praise it like crazy.
Do a blind test and swear absolutely majority of people will say pixel video boost is the best video.
If you are going to wait 5 hours for a Video Boost, then I can spend 10 seconds on the iPhone changing the white balance!!!
@@andyH_England for the average consumer that doesn't know how to edit video, Video Boost is all they need. But for snobby techy people sure this is not for you. Carry on!
Crazy how red the pixel makes everything!
The Video Boost Feature Is Really Impressive And I Am Amazed At How Good It Turned Out However I Saw Where It Glitched In Minuet 10:25 Of The Video When The Condition Was Extremely Dark. I Am In Love Non The Less 💗🥰
Finally pixel win in video now
Yeah. Definitely this new feature of the pixelate pro might increase my chances of getting one
Are you encountering the problem on the Pixel 8 Pro where a boosted video shared through Google Photos, then saved to another account, is saved at a resolution of 1080p instead of its original 4K quality? This results in a lower-quality version being saved. Essentially, the original 4K version seems inaccessible on the device, and sharing it via Google Photos for download isn't feasible. Any solution for this?
Pixel 8 pro (without video boost) looked better throughout the day, but the pixel 8 pro (video boost) looked better at night.
Preferred the pixel without video boost tbh
In daylight it is better without video boost, in the night it is better with videoboost ;).
Maybe it’s just me but I think the pixel is better without video boost omg it looks so darn good no joke good job google
I agree.
Oddly enough video boost makes you seem less processed compared to normal pixel video. In the normal you look way too contrasty and it exaggerates shadows and dark features on your face such as any crease or under the eyes looks way too dark and unnatural compared to video boost which brightens up your face and doesn't make any creases or darker areas the center of attention.
4:52 the video boost refinements are quite apparent here
Wow video boost so amazing 😮❤
On video why iphone on your face becomes bluewish or pinkish depends on senario temperature? Why pixel got video so good? Maybe pixel can be king in video but not overall video and still iphone live on that category.
I Don't Even Mind The Processing Time Because I Normally Shoot Videos When I'm On The Road And It Generally Takes A Few Hours/Minutes To Get Home Anyways.
Same here, the wait really isn't that important to me. I expect itll probably decrease because everyone wants to use it at the moment. Plus Google will probably invest in its capacity anyway
Boost looks more neutral and more detailed. Night shot walk (9:30-10) less smeary and natural wrinkles. PS, raw/proress option with Motion cam on external even better.
Why are you using the front camera on the Pixel which is the worst?
Video boost videos of pixel are way more sharper and crisp then iphone
What surprised me is how bad the iPhone 15 Pro Max is in some situations. For example, at 10:06 you can see the jittering during panning that isn't even on the non-boosted version of Pixel 8 Pro.
No phone is perfect!
You need to turn off automatic framerate, which drops to 24fps in low light. It helps with exposure, but the video comes out choppy.
I do not have that problem with my iPhone 15 pro max. I tested it here, it was better then all the other phones i had.
There must have been a setting that was incorrect on the iPhone.
Automatic framerate off here.
iPhone is the best video camera and pictures in the dark with not much light are great.
@@achyutarjun it's not consistently choppy, it's jittering very irregularly, so unless the auto FPS feature sucks that much I don't think it's caused by it
Another fantastic video by Nick! He's my favorite TH-cam camera comparison guy!! Other than the low-light videos, I actually prefer the regular Pixel 8 Pro videos with more natural tones.
Video Boost clearly works like taking videos on iPhones, i.e. HDR, exposure, frame skip/stutter, panning jitter and especially stabilization, are handled in post-production, the big difference is that, on iPhones it is done locally on-device, and on the Pixel 8 Pro, due to the weakness of the Tensor G3, it is managed by Google's servers in the cloud 🌥.
Samsung (the S23 Ultra) and almost all other Android manufacturers handle all these processes during video capture, I hope that one day (just like Google), they will understand that these processes need to be managed in post-production.
But we have to admit that even though it's slow and restrictive, the end result of Video Boost is good and better than the standard Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone video specifically at night, even if it is greatly lacking in contrast, in day time.
Ps: on the other hand, after seeing the results of the iQoo 12 (IQoo isn't exactly known for its video quality), in night video against the iPhone 15 Pro Max (the iQoo is better), I have the impression that the 8 Gen 3 has by default and on-device, the same capabilities as the Pixel 8 Pro Video Boost 🤔
The processing failure happens to me too, it looks very weird, like how is it failed while it backed up succesfully
The difference is huge! If they can make the processing time shorter it would be no competition
Call me absolutely crazy but I prefer the pixel video boosted or not.
Best review of video boost so far 🙏
Hope this feature will be on and someone can see the results immediately, andriod is now catching or even better than iphone when it comes to video
I love Pixel style color
Video boost it seems that it is handful during the night
Indeed, in daylight njah, but in the night it is good.
please help.. How to upload the video boosted video and post it on social media I have a hard time doing it until now I havent uloaded anuthing with bideo boost on socail media I can only view it in google photos even if I download it.. the outcome is jot the boosted video
This is a new technology obviously. They are gathering videos from people and running ai models. This will definitely become on device in near future.
At 6:50 pixel 8 pro nailed it,even without boost.see hdr performance
In good lighting : Pixel 8 Pro (no video boost)
In bad lighting : Pixel 8 pro (Video Boost)
Overall : iPhone 15 pro max
So much good in low light also in video boost
Perfect
Torras looks cool!!
both very good videos
Seems like iPhone still has better HDR during the daytime, and exposure shifting is smoother too. Google did a great job in brightening low light shots though. However, in some cases they could add a little more contrast. The night sky could be darker as well.
2 million subscribers channel selling
whats the price
The video boost is amazing!!!!!!!
Hello, why the Boost video takes 15 days to save a 5 second video!!!! It's abused!
videoBoostの時間短縮よりも 将来的に さらに進化してくれればと思っています。
The video looks great without video boost
please compare pixel 9 with pixel 8 pro
Pixel phones are getting closer to iPhone video quality hope they are neck to neck in the future photo are good on pixel phones they need to improve video quality and also processor they should add powerful processor
Video Boost is a major win here
For the people who think we can get same results by editing it in a software, i just wanna say that you can't. Iam a editor
Video boost at night is way too good
Even the Pixel 8 without Video Boost seems to handle itself much better with the sunlight behind you compared to the WAY more expensive iPhone 15 Pro Max. Artistically speaking the contrast on the iPhone might be preferred since it seems to give off a more "moody" vibe, but if we're talking about pure clarity for documenting purposes, it's not even a competition.
Exactly
Yeah, the Pixel 8 Pro is far better than what most people give it credit for.
The problem is that I can do far more on the iPhone, including shooting in log mode and creating my colour profile. So to be fair, if you are using Video Boost on the Pixel, I can use software on my iPhone, and log is on-device.
@@andyH_Englandvideo boost helps with stabilization and maintaining more details in difficult lighting conditions, with log maybe you can bring back a little of the under exposed part but I don't think it work as well as in the video...
Bruh the iphone had you looking blue. Pixel was more natural. Sounds like you're a apple fan boy
White balance is easily fixed. Definitely far from an apple fanboy.
Way better than the iphone.
Pixel is the best
Seeing how choppy the stabilization on the Pixel 8 Pro at about 5:00, that Video Boost was needed.
Video boost killing iphone😅
15 pro Max ✌️
Not do a video with the iPhone in pro res filming in log. Then go in and edit.
Iphone is better
Overall I wasn't impressed. Just looked like someone turned the brightness way up on the video turning a night shot into daylight. Coupled with the fact that it takes time to process on an external server, I can't see this being useful for most people.
Auto apple log
Apple too selfish 💯
Video boost is ass💀
Iphone king
Stupidest feature I have ever seen, When I saw the files sizes it was going to upload to the cloud I really Thought it was recoding some raw footage or at least 4:2:2 prores to upload and process but it is actually just a lame ass 4:2:0 video with higher bitrate, nothing can be fixed after the chroma subsampling has already been done, you already lost all the information.
Video boost does support 4:2:2, get your facts right before dishing out claims
@@lincolntse4330 no it does not, I checked the files
@@falacuscuz I checked and it's 422 hdr lmao, did you download the file from Google photo? And did you turn on 422 hdr in video boost mode ?
@@lincolntse4330 there is no 422 option, you crazy dude lol
@@falacuscuz so what is the hdr 10 bit option in video boost mode???
Google pixel gimmick!! Great video though, appreciate the work that goes into making these videos.😊
Video Boost is awful. Basically take any video footage, crank up the shadows and spit it out back at 1080p. This is nothing revolutionary like what Night Sight was for photos. iPhone still delivers better video and at higher resolution.
It does crank up the shadows, everything else you wrote is incorrect 😅
The time really is a nothing burger. Compared to what it does for night video.
