Got both and they’re both in my top 5, EDP great for everyday at school and RP good for special occasions but it’s competing with sauvage elixir.

I've tried Gentlemen EDP before but when Reserve Privée came out that's the one I went for. It's winter here in the south so it's one of my faves at the moment.
Love Reserve Privee and it's still on my best of 2022 list.. Fantastic scent! If you like that one you will most likely enjoy the EDT Intense, etc.. You tried any of the other ones (except the edp)?
@@rottenrebels I've tried Boisee and it was pretty good too although it faded quickly into a skin scent on me. I've also tried the EDT but I haven't tried the EDT Intense. Will give that a shot if I can find it here in South Africa. I also love Gentlemen Only, slightly old school with a bit of a throwback feeling but it's a pretty awesome one as well. Might work better on middle aged guys and up.
I'm curious if you both prefer dior homme intense or gentleman reserve privee?
The Privee becomes a little bit harsher in the drydown, it has a dusty aspect to it. The cocoa/chocolate/chestnut occasional whiffs you get from it are just magical, it puts you in the autumn vibes in an instant. I haven't tried the edp but I will, I have a 10 ml Sample of Privee and for some reason I'm still not convinced in buying a whole bottle (smells fantastic on my wife though).
Perhaps it's because I'm comparing it to Gentleman Only - which is more of a Spring fragrance. See, it took me at least 7 years to understand what Givenchy is aiming at these days with the Gentlemen line (I believe they failed with Privee in that aspect - not scentwise). A gentleman's fragrance has to be anything but strong and in your face, it has to be subtle but robust, alluring but reserved. They succeeded with all the line, with Privee they're trying to give people what they want: a stronger fragrance but with that it loses its initial purpose of being a Gentleman 's fragrance - if that makes any sense.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, I agree.. The Gentleman collection is really that.. For a gentleman. It's a fantastic collection of men's fragrances that are well-balanced and all with something unique about them. They are not supposed to be in your face crazy strong, etc.. They will make any man smell good in a masculine and attractive way. Period.
I think you might be right with the latest release (reserve privée) in that it might be like they wanted to bring out their version of something that they know a lot of people currently enjoy.
On the other hand, it's in line with the sort of Gentleman DNA, just that it's the first one in the collection that really pushes into a more warmer kind of powdery scent.
I like the spectrum and range in the collection now.. Reserve privée is the warmest of them all, moving to EDP which is warm&sweet to Boisée and EDT intense that sits sort of in the middle and the OG and "only" being the sort of lighter ones.
A complete collection for a man really. 👌

I sampled both in duty free. I don’t know why but I liked Gentleman EDP more compared to privée. And purchased Gentleman edp finally.

@@rottenrebels Just received my decants. Privee is for me dry, powdery, iris + chestnut fragrance. Cant feel any whiskey! Its nice but not enough different or not even better than the edp for me to purchase it, att least not att retail price. Boisee on the other hand is much more vibrant and softer fragrance! Really nice in the opening, peppar spicy, not so powdery, could imagine purchasing a bottle if performance is ok. Will test them further and possibly change my mind.

I found the Reserve Privée too boozy, if I wear it to work people will think I'm an alcoholic, and if I smell it the morning after drinking I could vomit. But the drydown is amazing and it lasts forever.

I always wonder if people really think someone is a alcoholic when they wear a boozy fragrance. I feel cautious when wearing Idole by Lubin, the fragrance that Bentley Intense is based on. Idole has an impressively realistic alcohol note.

The EDP seems to have considerably better performance to me, the Prive is pure sex though, just wish it projected and lasted like the EDP.
I'm convinced joma shop got me. I owned reserve prevee so naturally I loved it and wanted to get more so I watched videos and decided to go EDP, But when it got to my hours it smells EXACTLY like reserve privee. I really felt like they put privee in my edt bottle . I know it sounds like a joke. But iam not joking I really really feel joma shop got me. And on top of everything else I had to wait a month for it
How does the GG Privee match up with Dior Homme Intense and Valentino Uomo Intense. I've seen videos where all three are somehow linked together with that iris DNA. Your thoughts? Also, if you have one of these do you really need the others?

I think GG privee more similiar to DHI than with VUI. VUI smells like coconut cookies in the opening but on the drydown not too gourmand because the coconut cookies will fade. In contrast to GG and DHI, chocolate actually appears in the drydown. Iris on DHI is the strongest smell, second is GG and VUI doesn't really feel the iris vibe on drydown. At least to my nose and on my skin.
I’m thinking of buying one and for someone who’s younger, do you think the reserve privee is a better fit or the edp? Everyone seems to like the privee better but the chestnut in it is kind of concerning me
Hi! There is that "gentleman dna" in both but one has a boozy touch (privee) and one has a prominent dose of vanilla (edp).
Even though I think anyone can wear them, both are perhaps not the most youthful kind of scents, but out of the two I would say the EdP with it's vanilla is a better fit.
Boozy scents and scents with tobacco, oud or vetiver are (usually) not the kind of scents younger people go for. Thus their noses are not used to them which means someone might not enjoy wearing it and those around him/her might not enjoy the scent.
Just my 2 cents on that 😊

I haven't tried Reserve Privee, but I wasn't a fan of the EDP (I did manage to use up the whole bottle, though). I thought it was a bit sweet - I like DH Intense much better, chocolatey iris
Hi! Reserve Privee is a bit different though, with parts of "that" gentleman DNA in it. Try it if you get the chance, I like it a lot. To some it feels like DHI but I think they are different and I don't think it's as good as DHI although it's a fantastic scent.. 😊

EDP(black) retains intensity and a masculinity in the dry down. Reserve(brown) is initially intense and slaps you in the face, however, the dry down is less masculine and the sweet notes take over.

I do want to mention that I do not love most fragrances..
but I do buy every single one myself and I do have a very good understanding of what I myself enjoy and what other people enjoy, which is the reason why I rarely buy "bad" fragrances.
I have some fragrances that I did not enjoy that much which I've blind bought but even when I blind buy I usually get it sort of right.
I know some reviewers are sponsored or get stuff for free which means they get fragrances that dont fit what they like, but I buy my stuff myself which means I am NOT going to buy bad fragrances 😉 It would be stupid of me to waste money on bad s*it 🙈

Great cant wait! For me it was definitely straight to heaven by kilian, luckily received as gift but cant get past the opening which comes across as varnish to my nose unfortunately, but many people seem to love it 🤷♂️
Your other video on this fragrance made me buy the privee. I keep sniffing myself as how much I love it myself.
The privee is the reason ai never bought into the Amouage house - it smellls similar to privee and the price is so much cheaper.

I ve got the gentleman edp boisée. I smell the reserve privée and I love it but don't get boozy note at all. The main note I smell is iris and chestnut. But it's good for me because I don't like so much boozy fragrance so I think of the 2 I would take reserve privée directly I love it

How close to boisee is it and main differences?
@@1iosanta for me it's completely different. Nothings compare the edp boisée got a nice boisée smell and the reserve privée got a nice not of iris little powdery and chestnut. Totally different but both smell great
It’s summer here in the US. Curious what you think of the cologne or the edt.
I like them both! The cologne with it's focus on the citrus, iris, musk and vetiver is very fresh and light and easy to wear. Nothing extraordinary but it does smell good. Only issue is the performance which is also the reason I burned through my bottle of it SUPER FAST. It's like spray on, then top it up every 30 minutes because it's gone by then.. 🤣 I like the EDT more because it has "that" powdery side and that powdery side is done in such a soft and easy to wear kind of way. It's like a great powdery blend with a soft sweet and fruity side to it, some aromatics and a bit of leather creating some balance to it all.
The edt is one powdery fragrance I feel works really well in any kind of season (summer as well) since it's not too deep and there's something quite intoxicating about getting a whiff of the dry down after 30 minutes or so..

I really enjoyed the EDP although it gave me a very mature vibe which I just didn’t think suited me. Unfortunately, by your description it seems like the reserve privee will have the same issue but just in an even better fragrance. Amazing descriptions of the EDP though (can’t comment on reserve privee) I never thought of it as like sauvage parfum - citrus but it definitely has that vibe just with much more of a powderyness to it. I’ll check out the new one but probably won’t end up purchasing it! Still loved the video though guys 😊

How we perceive scents can be very different from how others perceive them, so just a friendly tip from me is to be open to trying out new scents :)
I developed A TON both in how i interpreted scents and how I used scents in social enviroments and how others reacted to my choice of fragrances once I really tried using scents I initially sort of "backed off" from. 😊 Now I can rock anything from mass appealing YSL's to super "challenging" fragrances and feel good + get compliments with any of them 😉
But with all that said, it might have a bit of a mature touch to it :) Especially if one compares it to lets say Paco Rabanne 1 million or Versace Eros EDT which do have a bit of a more youthful feel to them😉
Please do share how you feel about the new prive as it is almost like dior homme but with a twist. Would love to hear how you find the new one😊👍

Some say code absolu is on the mature side but I think it’s very versatile to all ages groups generally speaking so yes, shows different people have different tastes. However, I do agree that the EDP is reminiscent of Sauvage parfum and I do rock Sauvage edp on the daily so shows how the kind works haha! My collection mainly consists of versatile fragrances within their seasons but I’m looking at branching out on the near future :) The more I wear fragrance I feel as if I want to smell unique but amazing rather than generic but amazing haha!

@@jamestaylor1162 Unique + amazing = THE BEST. But sometimes a fantastic generic can be an awesome wearing experience as well. TO ME It's all about how a fragrance makes me feel and in that regards I don't really care if it's a mass appealing Sauvage or an exclusive Louis Vuitton. I´ll wear what makes me feel AMAZING. Period. 😉
