None of which I think concerns her in the slightest as her mind is on higher things. I use it as a term of endearment, nothing else.

They played "Dice" last Monday night at Zepp Shinjuku, and they played it at all their headlining shows in their last U.S. tour in May 2023 (plus the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus). It's a head-banger, fer sure. The video uses light and dark as symbolism very well. I agree about Ramona and her Gym Rock Crew documentaries. They are outstanding!
I think you will really like Alone, one of my favourites for Saiki and Miku's vocals together and the very first song entirely written and arranged by them that was accepted by their record label. Not too surprising. Many self written first albums represent years of compositional effort. Who knows how many of those songs were like YOLO, already existing as bits and pieces in Kanami's notebook? The real question is: what were the rejected songs like? The official line is: you will never know. All thrown in the trash.
I can't agree more. Kanami just exploded with brilliant music once "Alone" was accepted. It was like a dammed-up river, and she's been prolific ever since. And it's not just volume ... every song is a top-notch composition. Every one! One small nit about "Time" - it has lyrics by Kobato but the music is by Hitoshi Okamoto (岡本 仁志). There's a wikipedia page about Okamoto. He wrote another excellent composition "Before Yesterday."
About 4 years ago, Thrill caught my attention and started me on my Band-Maid journey. Dice was the song that made me go "Holy crap! They are amazing! " Great reaction
You are not alone. There has been a few poles conducted on some Band Maid websites and Facebook pages as far as their individual popularity. All of the poles have come up with about 20% in favor of each member.

Honestly, Dice should be a required case study on anyone wanting to learn how to write a perfect rock song. every aspect of it is near perfect in how it builds, blooms and pulls back at just the right points, for just the right amount of time. Saiki and Miku's vocals exude the passion and feeling, Misa's always moving bass line supports and steps into the limelight without ever distracting, Akane's always driving beat makes every single reactor i've seen bob their head in the exact same way during that chorus and Kanami... well, she Kanami's like she always does. its criminal that these ladies have yet to achieve the world domination they clearly deserve.
Yeah I get the impression that if someone hears and/or watches Dice and still doesn't like the band, then they never will. This song is for sure is a staple for anyone to discover and truly see what this band is capable of! I believe they are gaining attention and fast. The concerts and festivals are helping. Regardless, we know who they are and are here to spread that word.

Yeah, Ramona (GRC) has it going on for sure... You're getting a rare glimpse of Miku's gorgeous Mother of Pearl Zemaitis guitar. She keeps that one at home these days. No one can pick out one favorite part/member on ANY Band-Maid song because they all shine equally as bright every song......that's why we're here and love them.

Miku's Ring Chess Zemaitis normally cost 10k, but from what I've read in a few places, her personal Ring Chess is modified to KANAMI'S specifications. And those will add at least another thousand easily to the price. The mod's are supposed to be a piezo bridge, treble bleed mod, custom wound pickups and custom locking tuners. Dai-San did all the mods including hand winding the pickups.

Kanami is basically the conductor of the band, as she hears the sound she wants in her head and does what she can to make sure that sound is what the audience hears. As such, she has all of the guitars modified to her specifications, EXCEPT MISA's She just tells MISA how she wants her bass to sound and MISA and her tech do the rest. But Dai-San is the lead tech and Kanami's personal guitar tech, and he has modified all of the guitars to what Kanami wants. He has custom hand wound pickups, modified piezo transducers and pre-amps, added treble bleed modifications, recut the nut slots and replaced the tuning pegs on the headstocks, all to Kanai's specs. I think a LOT of the Band-Maid tone is the partnership between Kanami and Dai-San in getting that sound that Kanami wants.

Some people will never comprehend what a band goes through to deliver the sound they hear. Now, not every band does this, of course, most just let management run things, do what they are told, then end up broke and alone. But not these girls, this is special, and it shows.

Great reaction. That World Domination album is legendary. Off the top of my head, I can count 7 tracks from it that when played live are must-haves for my playlist. Dice is one of them. Although, to be fair, that studio recording of it that you just heard is killer on its own. Often that band's live versions are way better than the studio, but it's tough to outdo that studio Dice.

New subscriber, greetings from Australia. Dice was the song that got me hooked on this band. That opening riff is just pure rock, of the kind that's been missing for the past decade or so. These girls and The Warning are reviving the lost art. Another Japanese female band you might like is Lovebites. They play metal, but they mix genres around and like Band-Maid, have their own unique sound. I think you'll like their amazing drummer, Haruna, the pocket nuke, who incidentally is friends with Akane. They have recently changed lineup, with a new bassist (also phenomenal), so their most recent releases are MVs. But start with a live performance from 2020/21, Holy War or Shadowmaker are recommended. Did I mention they have *two* of the best lead guitarists in the business? 😁 Enjoyed your enthusiastic reaction, cheers.

I always assume there’s some lost things in translation, but I think it’s about taking more chances in life. Especially with things that are not going to happen that often. Sure, things might come out bad but at least you can say you tried whatever that was.

1st heard Thrill like 5 years ago and was like it’s ok. Then like a few weeks later watched Dice on TH-cam recommendation. Have been sold on them ever since. They are in my top tier list of bands I have seen live. No small feat as I have been going to concerts for almost 40 years.

This song is a call to arms to the listener. Japan has a very large problem with shut in's and stay at homes. People who either can't or won't take a risk to improve their lives. They are comfortable living in their parents basement playing with dolls or their gaming systems instead of going out into the world to try to live their own life. This song is saying STAND UP, STEP OUT INTO THE WORLD, take off your blindfold, lay aside your toys and games and become a member of society. And the ending is the young lady sets aside her doll, takes off her blindfold and steps towards the door.

I always assume there’s some lost things in translation, but I think it’s about taking more chances in life. Especially with things that are not going to happen that often. Sure, things might come out bad but at least you can say you tried whatever that was.
Yeah It seems to be one of those live in the moment and enjoy it. Take those chances and reap the benefits. They are very smart on their writing, which is an added benefit to their amazing talents.

1st heard Thrill like 5 years ago and was like it’s ok. Then like a few weeks later watched Dice on TH-cam recommendation. Have been sold on them ever since. They are in my top tier list of bands I have seen live. No small feat as I have been going to concerts for almost 40 years.

This song is a call to arms to the listener. Japan has a very large problem with shut in's and stay at homes. People who either can't or won't take a risk to improve their lives. They are comfortable living in their parents basement playing with dolls or their gaming systems instead of going out into the world to try to live their own life. This song is saying STAND UP, STEP OUT INTO THE WORLD, take off your blindfold, lay aside your toys and games and become a member of society.
And the ending is the young lady sets aside her doll, takes off her blindfold and steps towards the door.
