- solo Camping with my dog, Remi, a 9 week old golden retriever puppy. This will be Remi's first camping trip and we will be backpacking a mountain lake to some dispersed camping sites on the other side of the lake and camping overnight. I haven't done any solo camping with a dog before, and have NEVER tried doing any backpacking with a puppy before, so i didn't really know what to expect and just hoped that Remi wasn't miserable for her first time out on a mountain lake, camping in the forest. I was able to do a little bit of fishing while i was here, but fishing wasn't my main priority this time around since i had my dog. i'd like to start doing a lot more camping videos or camping and fishing videos with my dog, so stay tuned for a lot more solo camping with dog videos.

I’ve raised over 10 Golden’s over the last 30 years. We have a 2 yr old, and an 11,month old boy. I have to say there’s nothing like a golden, and you’re in for a wonderful time with her! If she isn’t already, she will be your best friend for life any moment now. There’s just something very special about goldens, which you will soon find out congratulations on your baby and when I say I life experience, I truly mean that I mean I put them ahead of a lot of people! Congratulations on your quitting smoking, I am trying to do the same thing. Winter is coming and I dread smoking outside. It’s just not worth it and it’s super expensive.
I absolutely LOVE your new puppy. She's adorable. And, congrats on the no smoking. I quit in April, after 36 years of it. Can't say I miss it at all. Love your videos, Nick.

Writing this 6 months on from when you made this video, and Im betting that sweet little girl looks even more adorable, with her now fully "feathered " tail, shirt sleeves, and her winter woolly britches, asshe is nearly an adult, bless her. Goldens are just pure love on four furry legs. My boy is nearly three and seems to have decided his lifes mission is to befriend every living soul on the planet. He can make more friends in a week than Ive had in a lifetime. The most loving dog Ive ever known over my many years. Hes at my side almost every minute of the day. It would be hard to find a better companion than a goldie. To beat having a goldie you would need to have two or more goldies.

Remi is life! Nothing like the awe and wonder of any little creature. Growing up we had a golden retriever that was literally the definition of love. Just the sweetest personality.

Nothing better than a golden! I have a 7 year old and she’s the best adventure dog!
Take that dryer lint and saturate it with candle wax and you'll have a waterproof fire starter that will burn longer, it's awesome for those wet mornings and rainy days
One thing to remember is that some foods for us dogs can't eat. Onion will kill a dog. My dog loves fries and we give her a few at a time. Don't want anything to happen to your dog she is pretty

Good looking pup. Just an FYI if you're not aware but stocked trout can carry salmon poisoning disease. When I lived in Oregon I had a dog get it from stocked trout. I was very lucky he made it.

Your hands bring back memories , I’m sure people in the supermarket looked at my hands /arms and thought I was self mutilating thanks to my brown Labrador puppy . His 4 now and we get out camping most weekends (minus the bite marks) , Remi will be a constant companion on your adventures they are a beautiful loyal dog .

Thought it was risky to take a large breed puppy on hikes before they are like 12-18 months old and still growing. I like to hike and have been told not to take my fox red lab until at least a year old
I'm sure it is. I'd imagine it puts a strain on a body that's not fully developed or built for that type of physical activity. Remi actually walked very little during this hike, I carried her most of the way.
Such a cute pup but I do have a question about your gear setup. How much does your pack weigh? I just finished a 3 day packin fishing trip and mine was killin me in weight.

A glorious adventure sir! You just can’t go wrong with a golden, I grew up with them. If you ever come up with the answer how they can be so damn cute but be a turd just as much, you gotta let me know. Because I sure haven’t found the answer! Keep it up man you have found a true friend!

She's about a year and three months now
