I think people just say “Davie504 can’t play this“ just so you’ll take it as a challenge and record it, and as a result, they will hear you play it, which is what they wanted all along.
No he has said many times that he studies the videos before playing them. Many times when you can't see the bass/hands of the person playing Davie doesn't play that song. I don't think it's necessarily because he couldn't play it, but it would take much much much longer to learn it and he might not play it the same way they did even though it would sound the same. Which would kinda remove the whole point of the video, that he can play the song as they're playing it, not only how it sounds.

Watching him do the Victor Wooten cover without the looper was actually quite incredible. Reminds me of some Tommy Emmanuel fingerpicking styles to get full and complete ranges on a single guitar.
When I started to watch that video I was like: no way there'll be Wojtek in it. How happy I was when realized I was wrong :-) Wojtek Pilichowski is hands down one of the fastest bass players on the planet so even trying to match him a little bit is an exceptionally difficult challenge. Davie. It would be really nice to listen to you playing that solo in full. I know it's very complex but no one ever tried this before you :-)
