Only God knows why we are not going full steam ahead for P76 for indigenious boats, skipping P75I. Just like MMRCA, this farce too has gone on for almost 2 decades now, and we are now capable of building SSN and SSBN on our own. What stops us from initiating P76 ??
If We can use DRDO AIP for Scorpene there is no excuse for not using it in indigenous boat that we build on our own. This will also give us quantity - 2/3 yards may build them in parallel

DRDO AIP is not yet fit on the scorpene . And it has been further delayed . DRDO and HAL both are incompetent when it comes to delivery on time just false promises . That’s why the navy can’t do anything

Navy has been the most successful among the tri-services to Acquire Made-in-India Defense Equipment with 41 out of the 43 New Warships being manufactured in India, with diversified and advanced tech from the US and France, whereas The Army and Especially The Airforce has been Addicted to Russian weaponry despite its dismal performance against American weapons since 1991 Gulf war(to Ukraine war) when Americans destroyed more than 200+ Soviet-made jets and 1500+ T-72s without losing ANY of their MBTs in a mere 3 days, But now the Navy is going the wrong path by acquiring extremely costly and 4.5 Gen Rafales when the Chinese are looking to make 6th Gen fighters by 2030s,The Navy should acquire F-35s as they are nearly the same costs as the Navy is putting on comparatively inferior Rafales etc.

Navy is most important to India if we have to win. Also Navy should be much bigger and larger than the Army and Air Force. AIP or Nuclear technology is most important. The subs must have the capability to be submerged for long periods. There is no thinking twice. So why is it taking so much time. Are the ministers incompetent to make such simple calls. This decision had to be made 20 to 30 years before. OR is there no budget for such important issues? OR are civilians ruining everything with the help of Democracy. The whole world is nearly at war. By God's grace we got some time why not use it to prepare. There is shortage of fighter jet on the other side. So are we prepared with just 36 rafale jet some missiles and some fire power. Navy issue has to be addressed if we require to at least defend.

Interesting considering how easy and more safer is Ethanol and minimum redesigned which is needed in Spanish Sub... Navantia does looks the better option

This reporter has partial or no knowledge on how defense market works, reporting defense is not easy, it's both technically complex and not much viewing.
    Some simple points:
Indian Navy is looking for a "fuel cell" type AIP, not many countries have this specific system operational.
DRDO's system is ready but it needs to integrate the AIP system in an actual submarine and test for sometime, these are extremely complex and delicate systems and costs lots time and money to design and develop such complex systems.
Right now DRDO has approached Ministry of Defense and Indian Navy for providing an actual submarine for showcase the technology. Since submarines are very costly, important and a stressed asset it requires lot of planning and approvals. Imagine we lending a bike with no back up for someone for a week, it's a tough choice right, Indian Navy is responsible for guarding a vast sea line of over 7000+ KMs and they have to make a lot of contingency plans to lend such a critical asset for couple of years. But I am hopeful they will come up with a plan soon

Even we have only 31 squadron of fighter jets instead of 42 and its lowest since 1965.

Very disappointing. Indian manufacturing, especially indigenous manufacturing, is fifty years behind China's. What is the cause? Is it the general lack of Indian discipline seen in the form of garbage on the streets and train tracks and open drains even in cities like Amritsar? China will eat India's lunch.
