    Nice explanation sir. Thanks for the valuable information. Sir I have a question ..... Why earlier in Sulzer engine jack bolts for the main bearing are inclined?

    • @MarineEngineeringHub
      @MarineEngineeringHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Pawan ,
      Sulzer engine jack bolt for main bearing is inclined so that to ensure that the shaft bending stress is less at the centre as the hole can be cut more closer to the centreline of the crankshaft which provides better crankshaft alignment and less bending stress.
      If you want to more soon video regarding this topic will be uploaded u will get more clear idea.
      Till then please share my other video in your facebook and whatsapp status.

      @nithinms5713 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tie rods should be as near as possile to the center line. since bending moment = force * distance. Jack bolt is an arrangment which holds the top cover of main bearing in position. By eliminating the requirement of bolts to hold it and reduces the width of top cover, so that tie rod can be bought close to the center line of engine.

    Why isolation valves are provided in fixed foam systems?

  • @odafeaustinjohnson

    I have a question. Any who knows the answer should kindly share please.
    Why is low expansion foam no longer allowed as the only fixed fire fighting system onboard ships?

    • @MarineEngineeringHub
      @MarineEngineeringHub  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Low expansion foam is used on deck for extinguishing the fire (mainly for open area fire)
      but co2 is used for closed area fire (such as engine room ,cargo hold,pump room etc)
      so normally you will find 2 extinguishing system onboard

    Regulations are much oriented towards cargo tanks for oil and chemical tanker and not about cargo holds of car carrier ship.

  • @abulhasnat2738
    @abulhasnat2738 ปีที่แล้ว

    High expansion is for deck and low expension is for engine room.

    • @MarineEngineeringHub
      @MarineEngineeringHub  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No opposite
      As high expansion tends to get away with wind so the expansion ratio is kept less!!!!

    • @odafeaustinjohnson
