Big Mike is a retired railroader who suffered a stroke. He knows this whole area after having worked his entire career there. I’d listen to him read the phone book.
the details Mike adds help create a complete story, putting names and personalities to the crews and power. we're lucky to have these films, let alone Mike's commentary. a golden age.
Early in my career in 1971/2 I rode the CNJ Raritan Valley Line from Roselle Park to Penn Station Newark then the PATH on to the World Trade Center. Those old blue & yellow passenger cars were rough, built before air conditioning, heated by steam in the winter, but it was an experience I will never forget. I even have an O Gauge Lionel engine done up in the CNJ red & white colors.
I love listening to Big mike as tells us about this, Its sad he had a stroke but still this is amazing work you guys did! Also at 6:14 loved the N&W F7s and the B&O sd12
@@pauludulutch4353 He's certainly an acquired sound. When I first discovered this channel I couldn't understand him easily either, but he is sounding rougher these days.

Mike makes these videos worth watching .
I could build a lay out in my basement. But I really like these videos and big Mike’s raspy dialog. God bless him.
Nice to hear Mike. He is the voice.

Your comment looks like something a 7 year old would write.
