My 7yo granddaughter is now a "Dave" fan. She watches all videos waiting in anticipation for the hilarious "ugly" comments, tongue clicks and the red hat. Dave, you are a refreshing treasure in the quilting world. We love you!!
All your quilts are soul inspired…I need to understand the flip , turn inside out method. O notice you quilts are not perfectly smooth. I’m ok with that. Personally, it’s more attractive.
You are my favorite quilter. Your finished quilts are so unique and outstanding, you should have prize ribbons on all of them. Signed, Dave’s fan club member.
46:36 exactly Art should not have rules!!! Art is an expression of said artist. We have enough rules in the world. Let us just enjoy doing art & seeing others art.
Wow buddy I love how you are forever stepping out of the box to make that “ONE AND ONLY QUILT” that nobody else has made. Keep doing what you’re doing !
I love the masculine vibe to your quilts. You don't see that often. I never know how to make interesting quilts for the men in my life. I have a lot of feminine fabric and patterns. Whether a quilt is inherently male or female is debatable, and I'm too old to figure it out. Regardless, you have mad talent, and I love your originality and style. Your quilts are pieces of art. You make "ugly" look good. It's like the puppy who's so ugly, he's cute. I love puppies and your quilts.
I loooved this trunk show. You said once you don't label your quilts... You shd!.. They will be collector's items oneday. Just do it... A quirky 'something'. Fan from South Africa.
Love, love, love the trunk show! So many stunning quilts and enjoyed your responses to some of the comments you had when you first showed the videos for each one. Dave you are so unique and lovely, I love that you say you don't need a lot of "stuff" to do your art. I am the opposite, I have loads of everything, but that's MY choice. I actually teach sewing to adults and kids and I tell them that I teach what works for me but as you go on your sewing journey you will discover what works for you, and that's OK! I hope Kaffe does contact you for a collab, he'd be the better for meeting you. When I teach folks new to sewing I give them a list of places around town (I live in Seattle) where they can find fabric stuff, I am going to include TH-camrs and you are on the top of the list!
Although i love the creativity of all your quilts A. Gorphell's tale is bar none my fave. I laughed through it and enjoy it everytime i watch it. I think you should publish the story with pictures of the sections and a fold out of the complete quilt in the center. The story is hysterical and the quilt is amazing. All of your quilts are like a where's Waldo quilt, constantly seeing new things and always fascinating. Love your vision.
Wow I need a Panadol after that trunk show! If there is anybody that shows us that quilting is meant to be fun it is Dave. Your fabric choices are fabulous.
Hi! Some of your quilts are show worthy in my opinion. One being the red work quilt. Very pretty. I don't know where you live but I'm sure a quilt show is somewhere near you. Keep up the great work. You have vision in your head and I am impressed. 👍💕
Dave, I love your ingenuity and simplicity! You don’t overthink a project you go for it. You may Chang midstream if necessary it’s all ok. I’m learning from you even after quitting since 1998. What I love the most and trying to understand is your flip inside out of your before quilting method and no putting on boarders.
"Half of One, Six Dozen of Another" and the zombie redwork were my favorites. If I had to choose. Loved seeing them all.🌻🍄 Edit - an embroidery quilt of Leonardo da Vinci drawings would be epic. 😊
Let me just tell you...I'm 77 years old and have always been a "traditional" quilter but there's always been a "rebel" quilter (like you) inside of me. I get bored following the rules so I guess that's why I have so many tops finished but I'm not inspired to quilt them. I love, love, love that you do you and don't listen to those comments that tell you to do something differently or their way. I love the Jungle Scrap quilt and Bonkers the most. I love the scrappiness. I have many, many orphan blocks that are just waiting to have them sewn together. I have a ton of books and patterns and I'll make a few blocks but then I get bored with doing the same thing over and over. I've always had a short attention span. Haha. Hmmmmm...guess what I'm doing today? Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration :)
Dave! I just stumbled across your channel. OMG, impressive! Like you I’m a self taught quilter. I grew up with a mom who was a talented garment sewer, so using a machine was not intimidating. And I believe if you can read, understand and follow instructions, you can learn to do most anything. I helped my grandmother tie utility quilts when I was small, so that is a favorite. I love your creativity and refusal to be restrained by rules. I have had a double wedding ring on my list for a while. I prefer to traditional pieced rings but all the cutting makes me want to scream. Seeing your use of foundation paper makes this pattern so much more simple. Im going to create some papers, drag out my scraps and get going. Thank you for the inspiration.
Welcome to the craft room ! Im glad you like my videos 😊 But ! I have to give credit where it's due, I'm actually not self-taught, my mom taught me how to make quilts 😜👨🏻
I’m sure people told Picasso that he was not painting in the right way when he first started to paint. I would think this applied to all of the great artists. Your art is amazing. Your quilts are truly works of art.
I love all of these quilts. Idea for an embroidered quilt: Shoes, boots etc. preferably including some of those ridiculous fetish shoes, Japanese sandals, converse etc. You’re welcome.
Love your work and you. Keep doing what you love. We are all individuals and live our own lives. Thank you for sharing your love of quilting and creating. That in itself is so special.
I love your videos. I rarely comment on how someone does something, partly because it is not my quilt and also because I would not want someone commenting on my quilts. Your creativity is what makes me look forward to your videos. Thank you for being that voice.
Oh, I think that is the best part, the op-eds. When I enter a quilt into a show, it's big fun to walk around and overhear other quilters' comments. The commenters don't know I am the maker, so I'm getting the unvarnished truth.
Dave, I've been making quilts for decades and find I'm a rule follower. I LOVE how you're not constrained by those rules and you're willing to try all sorts of methods. My favorites of your creations are your necktie quilt and your flying geese and polar bears quilt, but they're all wonderful. Keep up the great work and fun videos. Thanks.
Hey, Dave! I tend to leave verbose comments, so I’m going to only make one comments/suggestion. You’re welcome! 😇🤣😂 I thank that embroidered blocks of iconic structures would be a fabulous-and ironic-design for your next ‘blueprint’ quilt! Obvious ones like the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Sears building, Frank Lloyd Wrght’s ‘Fallingwater”-Wright has enough to focus solely on his works. I’m looking forward to hearing about your collab with Kaffe! 🤞🏻 Hmmmm…I guess that’s 2 comments-or as I like to see it-one comment and a cheer! 😁 Thank you, and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
Dave, you be you! Love your imagination and your unique use of traditional techniques! When I teach quilting I always state there are no mistakes I quilting, it is your art! Dave, I love your art!
Hi Dave 👋 I really enjoyed watching this video with almost all the quilts that you have made 👍 I have an idea for your next hand embroidery quilt. What about a quilt about bridges? They can be famous, unusual, over the edge, rare, old, and new bridges 😉
Thank you for all of the awesome videos and design ideas!!! I really appreciate your talent and hard work. I also find you absolutely hilarious and enjoy your stories. Thanks to you I am in the process of making the 365 house quilt AND a Hexi quilt made with Kaffee Fasset fabrics!!!!
So many fab-u-lous quilts - I found my favourite, then you showed another - I had so many favourites!! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful and creative works of art! 🥰 My head is buzzing 😵💫
I had a better idea than embroidering shoes. Do retro tattoos, anchors, bluebirds, flaming hearts, smoking guns, roses, playing cards, horseshoes and a star with a lucky 7 on it. It will be awesome 😍
I would like to see food inspired embroidery. That could become interesting. Or a kind of Frankenstein organ collection. But I also liked the suggestions of shoes or mustache men. By the way, I like the New Mexico quilt very much, the moon fabric makes it pop so much. So, now on with the rest of the video 😉
Slashing stuff apart and sewing it back together… isn’t that what quilting is all about! 🤣 I’ve gotten comments on my videos about copying people’s patterns and my response is “you can’t copyright a 9-patch”! I never make it exactly the same. Thanks for sharing with us!
It's epic seeing them all in a row like that. I think Zombroidery is still my all time fave, although I'd love to see the one with the tiny houses in real life and look in all those teeny tiny windows! You are a legend!
So, I was just in my sewing room working on my latest creation and my mind was wandering, as it often does, and I thought about your videos and quilts which lead me to think about videos of others who also have quilting styles I admire and I wondered if you were familiar with them and if not, I felt duty-bound to tell you of them. There are three, but I can only think of two at the moment: Warped Spinster and Pola Quilting. If you are not already familiar, I think you may find their quilts and techniques interesting.
For your next embroidery quilt, maybe a block for all the states and countries you've lived in or visited. I love the truck show! I hope Kaffe collaborates soon!
How about embroidered Wookie, Gungi, Harry (from Harry and the Hendersons), Skookum, Woods Booger, Wood Ape, Bigfoot, Skunk Ape, Bush Man, Grass Man, Swamp Ape, Tree Man, Wild Man, Susguatch, Yeti, and many other names. There are so many drawings, paintings, and other items about these things (real or not). The Wookie has lots of fans.
Great Video, Dave! I thought I had seen all your videos, but found out, that I actually missed a few. Loved all your quilts, my favorite is A Gorphells Tale. I think that was also my favorite video. Love all your quilts! Keep doing things the "Dave Way" - those that don't appreciate them can move along to another place! Thanks for sharing your quilts with us!
You are so imaginative and creative. Don’t let anyone tell you what and how you should be doing something! Ignore them, and enjoy your art, and keep letting us join you!
Dave I don’t have a favorite, I just love your improv style and that you don’t follow the quilt police. Keep being Dave and Daveatize away. Love the review of your quilts.
Unfinished stuff IS TOTAL baggage! Those of us with drawersssss of it are stuck! It's perfectionism, and lack of time for me. I get a little rush seeing you finish your work! 🌟
Dave, your quilts are EPIC! I love your running commentary, you make the quilting adventure so worth the trip. If I had the money I would try to convince you to sell me your "hundreds of little houses" quilt. I absolutely love your vintage TVs quilt, such a fun way to bring all our happy TV show memories back to life. Someday, I will try to make one too. But, must get my first quilt made first. Your Mom and Dad just have to be so proud of you. Whatever you do you eclipse any expectations we might have.
I've watched all your videos multiple times. Love your quilts too. Shocked that you got negatives for your time quilt !! That's one of my favorites , I love all the fabric and the narrow strips. I look forward to every second Tuesday ❤❤❤
Happy Dave Day to me🎉to us Earth people and to the aliens among us. You are my inspiration when I quilt. When I’m stuck I ask myself “what would Dave do?” And the answer is always “something awesome”. Dave’s Craft Room is the best quilting channel on TH-cam and I can’t believe you don’t have a million subscribers. Love from Liz❤
Loved seeing all *my* favorite quilts!😉 I liked the hexie and Gorphell’s vids best, I rewatch them often…as well as many others. Fav quote: “sometimes ugly comes back around”😝 Your vids inspire me to get outside the box, I don’t do it much, but I’m inspired nonetheless and working on it everyday. 💚💕❤️
Love your uniqueness. You take a lot of stress out of quilting and make it fun. This is a great video and I remember watching as you made them. Keep up the wonderful work and being you.❤
You’re amazing!!! Love all your creations! I think you would do amazing work on a long arm because your brain and asthetic works differently, and that’s what makes your work so unique. I say give a long arm a try, if you can!
I've watched your videos since the beginning, but it was so great to revisit some of your quilts in this trunk show! I really enjoy hearing the details on each one. I'm always delighted to see a new DCR video!
I love everything you do! I know some people want you do things differently but I am Soooooo glad you do what comes next in your head! I do want to give you a suggestion just to see how you would “Davidtize it”. Would you consider a medallion quilt? Either way, I look forward to what you do next… make IUP proud!
DAVE ! Yes loved your trunk show. You have inspired me so much so that I am finishing a lot of my quilt tops that are in boxes waiting and need to be finished with all 3 layers and bound and washed and USED ! LOL. Read our comments but just let them either make you smile, or roll off your back like water on ducks feathers. Your art is Who you are, keep doing your thing, explore and show off your projects - inspire us to challenge ourselves instead sticking to the rules. I look forward to your videos and usually go back to re-watch others that help re-invent something that I was stuck working on, huge thanks for that - example your Hawaiian quilt, I was stuck and Your work inspired me to "get it done", now to figure out how I want to quilt the 3 layers, but at least the top in done, THANKS !
So much fun to revisit lots of old favourites, but IMPOSSIBLE to choose a favourite favourite. Can't wait to see what you make next and next and next. (and I did wonder about the Windex sprayer, so thanks for that).
I'm a pre-washer too. Mostly because I don't like the way the fabric feels fresh off the bolt. Thanks for the trunk show Dave! I think I started following you when you were working on A Gorphell's Tale quilt. Great story & so much fun! The New Mexico Night Sky quilt - the answer to the how to make an on-point style quilt wider...borders Dave!
Loved your Trunk Show! I love how you share the thought process in creating. Your videos are awesome, and I look forward to watching your future ones, so inspiring! But most of all, love the sense of enjoyment, humor and fun that comes with quilting! Great work!
Please don’t listen to comments. You are precious. The quilt police are dying out.
Hi Dave - keep doing the Quilts “your way” it’s your creativity I’m here for! DAVITISE all the way YEAH
You are my favorite quilter. Your finished quilts are so unique and outstanding, you should have prize ribbons on all of them. Signed, Dave’s fan club member.

Really enjoy your trunk shows. Evidence of determination? Records of eccentricity? Proof that being a finisher is a noble quiltcomplishment, fer sure.
I love the masculine vibe to your quilts. You don't see that often. I never know how to make interesting quilts for the men in my life. I have a lot of feminine fabric and patterns.

You shd!.. They will be collector's items oneday.
Just do it... A quirky 'something'.
Fan from South Africa.
I would love to be in your designing head for 10 minutes! You are amazing!
Dave, I truly enjoy your homage to New Mexico! As someone in the Land of Enchantment, feel you have captured the land and sky perfectly. 🥰
You are truly and artist. I have been binge watching your videos and love them all!
Idea - quilt, that looks like plaid, but it's.. quilted. Ayway, these make me want to finally start on my first quilt project ♥
Love, love, love the trunk show! So many stunning quilts and enjoyed your responses to some of the comments you had when you first showed the videos for each one. The mustache quilt would look great hanging in a high end barber's shop!! It is so cool!
"I think it's ugly and I love it." Now that, my friends, is true love 💕
Dave, I love your ingenuity and simplicity! You don’t overthink a project you go for it. You may Chang midstream if necessary it’s all ok. I’m learning from you even after quitting since 1998.
What I love the most and trying to understand is your flip inside out of your before quilting method and no putting on boarders.
I just finished an embroidered RED CAT quilt...what fun - like you I couldn't stop drawing different silly cats and wanted to keep going.
Thank you for sharing!!!! Aloha 🌺
"Half of One, Six Dozen of Another" and the zombie redwork were my favorites. If I had to choose. Loved seeing them all.🌻🍄 Edit - an embroidery quilt of Leonardo da Vinci drawings would be epic. 😊

An embroidery quilt of cryptids would be pretty awesome
Dave! I just stumbled across your channel. OMG, impressive! Like you I’m a self taught quilter. I grew up with a mom who was a talented garment sewer, so using a machine was not intimidating. She did a great job!
I’m sure people told Picasso that he was not painting in the right way when he first started to paint. I would think this applied to all of the great artists. Your art is amazing. Your quilts are truly works of art.
You have inspired me to not be perfectionist in following directions and to get the project finished in my own way. You have liberated me.
Wow your quilts are amazing!
Never let any negative comments bother you. You are more than a quilter, you are an amazing artist!
I love all of these quilts. Idea for an embroidered quilt: Shoes, boots etc. preferably including some of those ridiculous fetish shoes, Japanese sandals, converse etc. You’re welcome.
My unsolicited, and potentially controversial advice? Keep doing what you are doing the way you do it. You do it so very well.
Night sky is GORGEOUS 😍
I suggest an embroidered pirate ship themed. 🏴☠️
good idea !!
Great video. Maybe an embroidered Drag Queen quilt.
mustache man coloring book = embroidery patterns.
I just love you!! That's all!! That's ALL 🤣♥️🤣🤷♀️
Amen to not having a drawer full of WIP'S. It clutters my mind. I enjoy watching your video's. Look forward to the next.
I like your New Mexico Night Sky quilt. I think the brown is beautiful.
I thank that embroidered blocks of iconic structures would be a fabulous-and ironic-design for your next ‘blueprint’ quilt!
Hmmmm…I guess that’s 2 comments-or as I like to see it-one comment and a cheer! 😁
Thank you, and stay well!

I love the chatty parts.
Dave, you be you! Love your imagination and your unique use of traditional techniques! When I teach quilting I always state there are no mistakes I quilting, it is your art! Dave, I love your art!
Beautiful awesome quilts. Love your approach and practical spirit 👍 ❤😊.
Hi Dave 👋 I really enjoyed watching this video with almost all the quilts that you have made 👍
I have an idea for your next hand embroidery quilt.
I think they are all amazing and unique and pieces of art. Just so cool.
No mustache? That IS dark!🥰
So many fab-u-lous quilts - I found my favourite, then you showed another - I had so many favourites!! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful and creative works of art! 🥰 My head is buzzing 😵💫
haha thank you 😉👨🏻
I love Dave’s Craft Room, all your quilts and you! You crack me up and I love your creativity! 🎉🎉🎉 Loved the trunk show!
I think I love your house quilt the most!! It’s an inspiration in color and in diligence!! 😍
The NM quilt is my absolute favorite. I’m from New Mexico and your tribute is perfect.
I really looove your "more is more" quilt, it's so stunning.
Just have to re-watch the making of video.
Greetings from Germany 😊
Amazing! You are a great designer, keep on Davitizing!
You could make an embroidered dinosaurs quilt! I'd love to see that :)
It's epic seeing them all in a row like that. I think Zombroidery is still my all time fave, although I'd love to see the one with the tiny houses in real life and look in all those teeny tiny windows! You are a legend!
Yes, I believe your Cheezit quilt is definitely your claim to fame! It is awesome! I liked how you went over all of your tools quickly, etc.
I would love to see a mushroombroidery quilt!
This video is the perfect inspiration for the Quilt, Sewing, and Craft festival I'm headed to today. I'm sure I won't spend too much money. Ha!
The third is Olta's Quilts. My failure to recall previously should not be a reflection on her. Stunning quilts which appear to all be improvisational.
For your next embroidery quilt, maybe a block for all the states and countries you've lived in or visited. I love the truck show! I hope Kaffe collaborates soon!
I’d suggest every state and country you’ve been to also that would be awesome
I love all of your work!!!

I like the New Mexico Night Sky Deco quilt the best. Very visually appealling, but good personal memories of NM as well.
What a fun recap. It’s been inspiring to follow along.
You are so imaginative and creative. Don’t let anyone tell you what and how you should be doing something! Ignore them, and enjoy your art, and keep letting us join you!
I thoroughly enjoy ALLLLL your videos ❤❤❤
Dave I don’t have a favorite, I just love your improv style and that you don’t follow the quilt police. Keep being Dave and Daveatize away. Love the review of your quilts.
I'm rooting for a collaboration between you and Kaffe. I love the plane quilt and how your dad gave you some good information!
The Gorphells Tail quilt is my all time fave story 😂😂
How about an embroidered mustache quilt. Using that mustache coloring book.
I think I mentioned doing that in this video 😜👨🏻
Unfinished stuff IS TOTAL baggage! Those of us with drawersssss of it are stuck! It's perfectionism, and lack of time for me. I get a little rush seeing you finish your work! 🌟

The brown and blue quilt I would call The bracelet quilt. I had one that looked very much like that lo Opel, turquoise, wood and silver

YOU are the reason to watch your channel. Love your work and your outlook!
Your quilts are fab ❤
So much fun to revisit lots of old favourites, but IMPOSSIBLE to choose a favourite favourite. Can't wait to see what you make next and next and next. (and I did wonder about the Windex sprayer, so thanks for that).
Love the plane embroidery blueprint quilt, something else maybe star war characters 😊
Next level heavy! Hurt myself laughing
Great work!
I watched Donna Jordan too for tying quilts. It worked Great! Love all your work! ❤
I love your creativity! You are an inspiration to think outside of the box and be unique! Love it.
