They claim this is a Ferrari F430 engine, but it doesn't sound like it...it sounds like the original 4.2L Maserati unit, albeit quite modified. All in all, an angry V8 with a crossplane crankshaft. Yes, I know the Coupe/Spyder of the era used a Ferrari engine, but there are differences, and one of them is the crank...the F430 uses a flatplane crankshaft, which means it's got a 180-degree angle between crank throws. That's what gives Ferrari V8's their distinctive sound...a crossplane crank has a 90-degree angle between crank throws, which is what gives them that characteristic "burble" in the exhaust and also the reason why this sounds more like a BMW M3 E92. Sure, intake, heads, combustion chambers and exhaust designs can affect the sound greatly, but typically, if you change the crank to a flatplane one (which will require new cams and a whole lot of new parts to match the new crankshaft design), it will sound a lot more Ferrari-esque.

Notice how it sounds quite "European" at high rpm's, compared to the typical 'American burble' featured in crossplane V8's.
Absolutely correct, it is not an F430 Engine. It is a Ferrari F430 Block and a few same ancillaries, and actually was used in the 4200 GT as a test bed by Ferrari before fitting to the F430. Also it was a joint Maserati/Ferrari project, they both inputted into the design. Personally I prefer my Gransport sound to that of a Ferrari, but that is personal to me.

It's a 500hp 4200GT of course it's tuned. They are just under 400hp stock.

@@nvl2691 they all had the F430 V8 block as standard, just with a cross plane crank instead of a flat plane, hence the note/tone difference

It must be low on torque as it isn't overly quick for 500hp, my old LS1 VY SS is about on par with that.

This is NOT an engine swap. I have a GranSport. Sure, this may have a tune but at the most 410-420 crank horsepower. This sounds like a cross plane and not a flat plane crank. Pointless to rev it beyond 7,000 RPMs another fake video and more lies.
Your topspeed is lower than my stock 4200. I reach 260 way faster and about 290 max.
