This video is VERY informative! The details and opinions are sooo appreciated! I’ve watched a million step by step videos that are almost robotic. This has definitely helped the most. Thanks for the tips!
This is a very good, well-taught, real-life video on all the procedures. Thank you for taking the time. At 23:40 you can see that the mist of adhesive is still in the air. Since these are sticky particles and solvents and who-knows-what else, you may live longer if you wear a respirator mask, or even a cheap dust mask... you were breathing-in that stuff long after you sprayed. You are too nice of a person to pass early.
Thanks, Debbie! Your tutorials are always so detailed & have so many tips! I also love that you always put the supply list in your description. Thanks for being a great teacher!
omg ! thank you, thank you ,thank you yours is the first video that tells me what side of the sub paper goes up in the printer I've seen several videos on how to tell the diff. in the printing side and the non printing side but not which side goes up :)
Thank you so much! I’m new to this and have wanted to learn how to do it also still deciding what type of side business I would like to have. I plan to use my Cricut Maker with HTV but I’m interested in screen printing as well. I have thought a lot about sublimation that it might be the better fit for me and your tutorials are very detailed I am learning a lot. Thank you!
I've just found these videos and I just love them. Debbie is such a good teacher. I love her comments!!! One question I have is can you use regular inks in the sublimation printer or are you committed to sublimation ?
This printer is a regular printer that has been converted to sublimation. You can use your regular ink after converting , with that said you will have to purge the ink after putting back in the regular ink, make sense?
actually - I have a question. I did a sample with butcher paper then another sample with parchment. The parchment seemed to come out a tad bit brighter. What is your take on this? Is there any reason we shouldn't use parchment?
Hi Debbie, Im just starting out with sublimation and t-shirts in general. Video was so easy to follow as was your printer one, as youve probably guessed Im binge watching..... Have to try to source comparable products that you mention such as the Cosmos inks and butcher paper as Im in the UK so wish me luck!! Thank you again xx
If you hit Borderless when setting up your print, select ok and then go into the settings button right next to it. You will see 2 options there one that says Retain Size and one that says something like Auto Expand. Select Retain Size and it keeps your design the actual size you want. I always wondered why; my screen prints were coming out a lil bigger than I made them when I printed my films.
You are a freaking life saver!!! I LOVE the spray adhesive idea. I just ruined 2 shirts because it shadowed when the print moved :( I have the same press as you except smaller and yes the suction thing it does is just annoying! I really appreciate that you took the time to make this video and thank you for the tips so so much. I don't have to throw my heat press in the dumpster now lol ♥♥♥
Good job Debbie! I just use standard quality ink setting on presentation mat so you don't waste ink. I have never used or needed to use tape or spray. Or put any paper on top. Maybe just me lol
HEART WEAR I wasted a lot of blanks before I figured out the spray. It ALWAYS shifted for me. Lucky yours stays in place! It could be because my press is so big. I’m sure that doesn’t help. As for the high quality setting, when I tested them side by side the high quality one was definitely more vivid. The little bit of extra ink helps, but I’m sure the results will vary depending on the ink and paper used too.
This was awesome. Thanks so much! I’ve been wanting to try sublimation but have been worried about it...thanks for going slowly to make sure we got everything! 👍
Hello. How often do you need to run something through the printer? I don’t do much sublimation but I want to :). Also, how often do you have to add ink? How much does it cost per shirt would you say?
I’ve gone almost 2 weeks and ran a print nozzle check to see how bad it was. There were very minor flaws with the check sheet that I was able to fix with a head cleaning or 2.
This was an amazing video. Thank you so much for the time you took and for sharing your knowledge. What are the things I’m confused about are the different programs to get started I see that you used silhouette studio, but I also see that you mentioned illustrator, and Photoshop, which is the same program that another gentleman mentioned, as well as creative studio. I guess I’m just curious as to how they are used in order. Is it Photoshop illustrator first and then they bring it over to creative studio or silhouette studio? Any insight would be cool. Also, I know you don’t want to mention that brand of ink, however, I am definitely interested in knowing before I invest in a specific brand that I was looking at. Also the swing away heat press that you were speaking of is there a specific one or is that what it’s called? Thank you so much for taking the time to read.
Thanks for the tip, Debbie! Found a really cheap 2nd hand heat press online and was thinking of buying it and print our own shirt for the company rather than outsourcing it everytime we need em. More power to you and your channel!
You can use a regular Inkjet printer as long as you’re filling it with sublimation ink. However, not all inkjet printers will work. Epson’s do not use heat in their printing process so that’s why so many people use them. You can’t have a printer that heats the ink at all because it’s heat activated. As far as filling with ink, you can use cartridges, a CISS Kit (continuous ink supply system), or get an Epson ecotank model which has it own tanks you can fill with sub ink. Ecotanks wouldn’t need anything extra except for the ink.
What will be the advantage of a DTG printer vs a sublimation print on a white 50/50 blend blank? The results of the sublimation look really good on the video I’m guessing it’ll look even better in person.
Jason Taylor sublimation won’t look very good on a 50/50 blend. The colors only bonds with the polyester so half of it will wash out. Personally, I won’t use a shirt with less than 80% polyester. It just looks too faded for me.
Stephanie McChord thank you! Yes, you will still want to use paper to protect your Teflon from getting ink on it. The idea behind paper is you can throw it away after each press. The ink can and most likely will get on your Teflon sheet and transfer to your next project without having paper there to protect it.
Hi Debbie, Can you describe why you prefer a press without non-stick coating or Teflon? In a quick look, it seems most have it. Less expensive ones anyway :)
Because if you accidentally get any ink on that Teflon sheet it will transfer to the next item you press. And Teflon can cause moisture when pressed that can sometimes interfere with your image. You are supposed to use paper for sublimation, and then throw it away after each use to ensure you have a clean sheet every time.
Thanks Deb! You did a great job. I have a question: I have a roll of newsprint paper, and I am wondering if butcher paper is safer to use. I have dropped more money into the new Cricut infusible ink products than I intended, so I want to use what I have if I am not risking burning the house down! I have a clothing press that I assumed would do the job until I tried it. Then I got 'your' laser thermometer gun and found my press failed miserably. Then I got an Easy Press look alike with good reviews...failed again with temp variations all over the surface. I broke down and got the big momma Cricut Easy Press 2 and it will be here Tuesday. I only do my crafty things as gifts and have no intention of selling, but I just might sell a few things to replenish my budget. I am a card maker, Cricuteer, and started in middle school sewing. Crafting is my therapy and helps me deal with the restrictions of my medical issues. Sorry I am so chatty...pain meds just amplify my natural tendency to chat!😎 Thanks for your help.
Your tank top video was very in depth. Do you do this and sell your products? Thank you very much with your time as well as personal opinion. It actually helps me, bc I can learn from your experience. I just have to sell enough that it pays for the investment in the equipment. Thanks so much Ms Debbie.

Thanks for the heads up, but unless something changed very recently, that trademark attempt was refused in May. A fellow designer friend sent me this link about it as this was brought up in a designer group I'm a part of. tsdr.uspto.gov/documentviewer?caseId=sn86923714&docId=OOA20190510170538
Thank you! No, you just print it with the mirror setting turned on. And you don’t have to cut it out. Sublimation doesn’t print white so all the blank space around it will not transfer.
You didn't use a cutting plotter to remove the whites, yet when pressed only the design was transferred? (I.e. without the white areas? How does that work?
I’m trying to find some foam. Is there a specific type I have to look for? I went to my local fabric store and they thought foam does not do well with heat? Not sure if I was looking at wrong kind. Thanks for sharing your process!!
They make an adhesive tape you could use instead and it's cheap. Also, inhaling those chemicals is bad for you. I put my design onto the shirt after getting the wrinkles out and then placed teflon over and I can see through it so the design doesn't move
Life's Little Moments I tried over and over again with the tape and it would still move. And you’re right, breathing that stuff is not good. We usually open the window all the way and turn on a fan but outside would definitely be better. And I don’t use Teflon because ink get transferred onto it and can pass onto the next press. The paper can just be thrown away. The Teflon would have to be wiped off between use. I’ve also been told Teflon can hold in moisture and mess with your transfer. I haven’t had that issue but have seen it happen to others. Thank you for mentioning the fumes. I should have mentioned that in the video for sure.
The only time the ink gets transferred is when you cut too close to the design and the edge where there's color can seep out. I never have that issue otherwise. When you put the teflon over, you check it if moved and if so, lift the teflon a little and move the design. I invested it a heat press from heatpressnation. It's a clamshell. The swing away always break. My hubby has the swing away as we both use a press to work faster. He likes that style, also from heatpressnation. Works great but you have to tighten bolts, grease the handle etc.
Life's Little Moments we have a swing away press as well. I actually prefer the swing away but we needed a bigger one and the swing always that size were just too expensive. That’s awesome you never get ink on the Teflon! Your ink or paper must be different from mine. I always see a distinct image of the transfer on my top sheet of paper so there’s no question it would get onto my Teflon. I’ve had it happen a couple times before I I got in the habit of just using paper instead of Teflon.
What kind of paper are you using? I couldn't tell from the video, maybe I missed it..... you could use the parchment and throw that away.... there's a trick so the design doesn't move too much. You slide it on from the bottom and cover. That helps minimize that from happening. Also if the fabric is hot after you iron out the wrinkles, the design will not move as much either from the heat
Hello,Debbie. We are manufacturers, we have our own coating processing plant and ceramics factory, sales department in Guangzhou. Our ink is imported from the United States.Interested in adding WhatsApp : 13925185884. Facebook: 张友凤 . thank you
It needs to be polyester fabric, or have a high polyester %. And the fabric had to be a light color. This should help: www.debbiedoesdesign.com/blogs/posts/sublimation-colors
Actually Debbie I found your link on the printer now I have another question that hopefully you or someone else might know, do you think the easy press can be used for T-shirt sub ?
I have a question about the ink. Do you have a CISS? I'm looking at getting started with the sublimation shirts. I have been doing heat transfer shirts for years. But wanting to try something new.
nikki fitzgerald I use refillable cartridges. I started with a CISS but it was a pain in the neck. Always having clogs and bubbles somewhere. The cartridges are much less fussy. I provided links in the description to Cosmos Ink where you can get an ink/cartridge kit. I love my Cosmos Ink 👍
@@DebbieDoesDesign One more question. The Epson 7710 was what I was looking at but you have the 7720. Is there a huge difference. Do you recommend one more then the other?
@@nikkifitzgerald7224 They are identical except the 7720 has 2 paper trays. The catch with the second tray is it wont let you choose Premium Presentation Matte so I never use it anyway. Just get whichever is cheaper.
When you say you used a different ink before but use cosmos ink now, did you switch the ink in your same printer or did you buy a new printer? Just in case I don't end up liking the ink I just put into my printer
Irene magee the spray is adhesive to keep your design in place. If it moves at all it will be blurry. I have an Epson WF-7720. It’s a regular Inkjet printer that I converted.
Does this printer have it were you can use the Supplementation inc without having a by something to add on to the printer or do these cartridges on the site that you give just fit right into the printer I'm starting to get into this mainly to do shirts for the football moms were we don't have to go to someone else me want to change something really quickly thank you so much I love this video it is taught me so much and I love your step-by-step
Tina Pedroza thank you! You don’t need anything else but the ink and the cartridges to get it set up. Just fill them up and snap them in. Cosmos Ink has videos waking you through the process. His channel is called “Caps on Fire” if you want to go look them up.
It's to keep the transfer from shifting while pressing or while opening our press. If it moves at all while it's still hot the design will keep transferring and you'll end up with a blurry double-image design on your shirt.
T Hank you, this was perfect. I appreciate all the little "this might happen if", "do this because". I have to admit, I am now scared to death to do my sublimation transfer because now it seems scary and I only have the exact # of shirts and exact # of transfers. ON a deadline. EEEKKKKKK.
No. Being a PNG file doesn’t mean it will always have a transparent background. You can save a PNG file with a white background. It just depends on how the file itself was made and exported. But as long as the person who created the file made sure there was no white background before saving it, then it should have a transparent background.
I'm going through ink woes right now. Specifically prints turning out a little redder than they should, and blacks being meh... Does Cosmos ink have an ICC profile?
Cosmos Ink does not have a profile. It is calibrated to work with Epson's default profile. I just uploaded a video on different paper settings and how big of a difference they can make. And I did videos on how to get in and choose the best color settings on a Mac or a PC. Check the recent videos in my channel! They might help!
Janet McKinney a Silhouette Cameo is going to cost between $200-$300 depending on the model or bundle you get. You can often find them for pretty cheap on Facebook marketplace if you keep an eye out.
On my shirts, when I transfer, the white part of the sublimation paper also transfers to the shirt, not just the colored ink, is there something Im doing wrong? In this video, the only thing that transferred is the actual image, but if i did it, the white of the paper would be on there too after I peel, what am i doing wrong?
It's a ePhotoInc 16x24" press I got on ebay, but I wouldn't recommend it. I had to make some adjustments to make it work and the heat is off and inconsistent.
I do 400° for 60 seconds on my shirts, but if your easypress is one of the models that can reach that high I’ve heard some people have been able to use them ok for sublimation.
@@victoriadeyot9321 I've never used one so I can't say much about them. I think I've heard that not all will reach 400 degrees which is needed for sublimation, so you will want to check on your specific model.
Hello, I was wondering how I can transfer or convert an image with a white background to clear background(as the image shown on this video). Hope you can help!
vanesmiles55 I use photoshop to remove white backgrounds from designs that need it, but as long as the white background is an actual white background, you don’t need to worry about it. It won’t print the white so it won’t show up when you press it anyway.
@@DebbieDoesDesign do you use the CISS system or just refill the cartridges I got the 7720 still have not used it want to see which ink is best before I convert it
Loved your video... but I went to Jiffy to order the shirts and they only ship to Ontario and I live in BC After spending 1 hour picking all the shirts I want then go to checkout and then they say sorry we only ship to Ontario.
Alyssa Vendegna since the main purpose of the butcher paper is to protect your press from ink you really want to be able to use something you can throw away after using it. You would have to wipe down the Teflon and hope you got it all to avoid transferring ink to your next item. I’ve also heard Teflon can hold in moisture and mess with the ink although I’ve used Teflon before when I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t notice any problems.
Im starting my own tshirt business and this video was my inspiration! I ordered everything on your list however i have a few questions! Please reach out to me!
Thank you! Feel free to message me through my fb page (facebook.com/debbiedoesdesignco) or join my group (facebook.com/groups/cameocricutsublimation) and ask questions!
mike soos he always kept stock on hand for existing customers. He just limited new orders. But his next shipment is filling up a warehouse so stock won’t be an issue anymore.
You can let the paper cool if you’d like. You just want to make sure it doesn’t move at all while it’s sitting there very hot, which is why I choose to pull it off right away. Less risk of it shifting and leaving a shadow.
I was watching videos last night while turning my Epson over and saw a few on HP sublimation. Just know you can't change it back to regular ink If you change to sublimation
I use lots of different shirts depending on the project and the customer. I like Threadfast Blizzard tanks, Bella Marble Tees (but the women's run small so keep that in mind), Mens Vapor Apparel Tees, Gildan 420's. All good shirts with more a cotton feel.
From what I've read, as long as they sell the sublimation ink for it you can use it. The only difference between printers is the speed of printing and the quality of the print out. Work Force printers seem to be the best pic for a low end sublimation printer.
Best Video I have watched so far. Great tips for a beginner like me. One question, I am getting a line across the top of where the sublimation paper was, would the foam help that or do I need to do something else? Also how thick is the foam and does it need to be any special type?
Thank you! Yes, the foam should help, but some of those more shiny polyester shirts are really hard. I provided the link to the exact foam I use in the video description. Try the foam and lighten up your pressure as much as you can. You can also try a lower temp and shorter temp, or the tearing the paper method. I know those work for a lot of people.
@@DebbieDoesDesign I will try the foam, the shirts are the ones that feel like cotton not the shiny ones, I have tried to lighten the pressure, so I already have it pretty light and the tearing I have tried and it has helped but not a 100% I will try the foam and lowering the temp alittle to see if that will help. Thank you for your insight and help.
Thank you again, after watching your video, I was successful for the first time of not getting the lines I was having a problem with, I have ordered the foam but didn't even need it after following your video step by step. I had been working on this for over 3 weeks so thank you so much! I am truly grateful for your willingness to share your talents with us. I have also made your Etsy shop a favorite.
I have the 7720 as well but i do not see the paper setting you suggested for 13x19. Also I use Cricut Explore 2 is there another software I can use that works?
Have you installed the drivers for the printer yet? Regardless of what you're printing from you should always be able to see the printer's options. If you want to try printing from something else, Silhouette's software is free.
I keep forgetting I can use silhouette and print to sublimation printer. Guess I had to see it to finally realize it. Thanks!!! If using cotton shirts, any extra steps?
Marcus Pullan you would have to treat the cotton with a special spray to get it to work which sometimes doesn’t work that great for more extra work than I like doing, so I stick with polyester. I know some people love the sprays though. I think it just takes some practice to get the process down.
Hi Debbie I was able to request to join the group I was wondering if the printer you purchased with all the parts separately? I saw the Epson C88 on Amazon and I’m trying to make a decision 😃
Mariposa M I purchased the printer, refillable cartridges, and ink separately. Much cheaper than buying them in a kit and you can pick out the exact printer you want that way.
Yes, you’ll need refillable cartridges to put the ink into though. You won’t want to use it for normal printing though. Once you convert it just use it for sub. You can convert it back if you change your mind, but you don’t want to be switching back and forth. You’ll have to do a bunch of head cleanings to flush out the other ink and it would waste ink.
Can you use a regular printer with the sub paper? also what is the name of the board you cut the sub paper on? and what is the name of the item you use to cut the paper?
Hi Debbie. Great video! I have a question. I followed all the steps to transform an Epson 7710. I have Ink X Pro ink because I couldn't find Cosmos on Amazon. I have A Sub Sublimation paper. When I print, the design looks vibrant on paper but when I press it, it is very light. :( I'm using a Cricut Easy Press. It goes up to 400 and I've tried 35-45 seconds. Any advice? Should I get a regular press? I've applied to your Facebook group.
Do you possibly know if this will work with cricut design space? I use my iPad..I have watched a few videos joined your group lol..I just have questions I appreciate your time
My_Vizsla technically yes, you can switch the ink out as needed. But every time you do that you have to purge the old ink and it’s super wasteful and hard on the printer. It’s better to have 2 separate printers.
Hi! I'm new to ur channel and wanting to get into sublimation, so thanks for the great videos. I have a question tho... I noticed when u took the sub paper off the shirt u still had a good bit of ink left on it, so can u possibly use that one a 2nd time? Or is it a 1 time press only? Also I wanted to get a 2nd opinion on something I was told about as well that I'm not sure about bc I've never done sublimation as of yet, but thinking about getting into it. But I was told u don't necessarily have to use sublimation paper that u can actually use regular copy paper to do it if ur in a pinch. Have u ever heard of that? Or is that even something anyone should try? I would love to hear ur thoughts on this. Thanks in advance for any answers, and again, awesome video!
Yes, technically you can press the transfer again but it won’t be as vivid as the first time since you use most the ink in the first press. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it. Just print a new transfer. Yes, some people do use regular paper and you can if you’re in a pinch, but typically your colors won’t be as vibrant. There is a lot of mixed discussion on this. Some people swear they get great results from regular paper. I’m all my testing, I have not found that to be the case. But you are always welcome to give it a try to decide for yourself.

Can I use a regular inkjet printer? Or does it have to be a special sublimation printer
To use sublimation ink you have to use sublimation paper. Sublimation ink will only work best using 100% Polyester substrate.
You can use a regular Inkjet printer as long as you’re filling it with sublimation ink. However, not all inkjet printers will work. Epson’s do not use heat in their printing process so that’s why so many people use them. You can’t have a printer that heats the ink at all because it’s heat activated. Best video I've seen!!! question..If i Have teflon on the press do I still Need to use the paper?
Stephanie McChord thank you! Yes, you will still want to use paper to protect your Teflon from getting ink on it. The idea behind paper is you can throw it away after each press. The ink can and most likely will get on your Teflon sheet and transfer to your next project without having paper there to protect it.
Really excellent tutorial and demonstration. Thank you so much.
what kind of printer and ink do you use?
Kellen Lamarr, it’s an Epson WF-7720, and I use just normal paper.
Newsprint paper will work just fine! You might want to double up in case it’s a little too thin and ink bleeds through.
Amazing video, so informative, thank you so much, I am just starting out, this helped me a great deal!
Can I use the same sublimation paper for a T-Shirt, mug, and so on? I was told I can but I would like to make sure please. Thank you
Your tank top video was very in depth. Do you do this and sell your products? Thank you very much with your time as well as personal opinion. It actually helps me, bc I can learn from your experience. I just have to sell enough that it pays for the investment in the equipment. Thanks so much Ms Debbie.
At the time I recorded this video, yes, I was selling shirts. But about 6 months later I switched to designing full time.

Debbie do you have to do everything in revers to then cut from the silhouette program? Thank you so much for the tutorial, your a great teacher.
Thank you! No, you just print it with the mirror setting turned on. And you don’t have to cut it out. Sublimation doesn’t print white so all the blank space around it will not transfer.
Debbie, I couldn't find the Cosmos Ink and what adhesive spray do you use?
All of her items used are in the video description, my friend :)
You didn't use a cutting plotter to remove the whites, yet when pressed only the design was transferred? (I.e. without the white areas? How does that work?
Sublimation doesn’t have white ink. So you don’t have to cut it out. Only the colored areas transfer.
On the tank top, do you know if it fits true to size ?
Amanda Hood I think so!
Awesome thank you!! I am going to order some
I’m trying to find some foam. Is there a specific type I have to look for? I went to my local fabric store and they thought foam does not do well with heat? Not sure if I was looking at wrong kind. Thanks for sharing your process!!
I have a link to the specific foam I use in the video’s description but I’ve heard the green foam at JoAnn’s works.
Thank you seaux much for posting this video. I can finally use my sublimating printer and paper.
Debbie, did you convert the epsom for sublimation ink?
Yes! I have a lot of detailed information about Epson printer's for sublimation in my Facebook group. I provided the link in the video description.
Thank you!
Are there any on TH-cam I dont have fb.
Angi Luciano looks up Caps on Fire on TH-cam. He has some good videos about it.
Hello,Debbie. We are manufacturers, we have our own coating processing plant and ceramics factory, sales department in Guangzhou. Our ink is imported from the United States.Interested in adding WhatsApp : 13925185884. Facebook: 张友凤 . thank you
Awesome video. Does this work on all type of fabric material and any color of design?
It needs to be polyester fabric, or have a high polyester %. And the fabric had to be a light color. This should help: www.debbiedoesdesign.com/blogs/posts/sublimation-colors
I love your videos. You do a great job explaining! Thank you
Actually Debbie I found your link on the printer now I have another question that hopefully you or someone else might know, do you think the easy press can be used for T-shirt sub ?
Mariposa M if you’re easy press can reach 400° it should work. I’ve seen others use them but not all reach that temp.
@@DebbieDoesDesign Hi good day! I was confused a little bit when you're mentioning scale of temperature by degree.. is it celsius or fahrenheit?

Are you using ciss or cartridges with your printer? Do you have a video for setup?
roni brittain I use cartridges, but I don’t have a setup video yet. Sorry! Check out Caps on Fire on TH-cam. He has some setup videos.
Why do you use stay adhesive, is it just to keep the iron on in place?
Not Your Average Taper, it’s the best way to get the transfer from shifting that I’ve found.
Hi! What size is your heat press?
Hi, my heat press is a “16” x “24” Clamshell!
Nice thorough video! Thank you!
The Spray Adhesive doesn't make the shirt sticky?
When you say you used a different ink before but use cosmos ink now, did you switch the ink in your same printer or did you buy a new printer? Just in case I don't end up liking the ink I just put into my printer
I used the same printer, I just bought new cartridges.
Thank you so much for doing this video. New to sublimation and will take all info
Ang Dillon you’re welcome! I hope it helps! Feel free to reach out if you have questions!
oh my love your start to finish tutorial
What is the difference between using a $200 epson inkjet for sublimation and buying the sawgrass printer that is a lot more expensive?
Natalie Piromsuk debbiedoesdesignco.com/blogs/posts/epson-vs-sawgrass
what is the spray for? What Epson printer do you use? Do you use it as regular inkjet or did you convert it to die printer?
His channel is called “Caps on Fire” if you want to go look them up.
great video.. but will like to know why you used spray adhesive on the sublimation paper..?
It's to keep the transfer from shifting while pressing or while opening our press. If it moves at all while it's still hot the design will keep transferring and you'll end up with a blurry double-image design on your shirt.
@@DebbieDoesDesign thank you for the reply its really helpful
This was VERY informative thank you, and thanks for the links!
may I ask what tank top are you using?
Deanna Carlin it’s a Threadfast Blizzard tank in Silver. I provided a link in the video’s description.
T Hank you, this was perfect. I appreciate all the little "this might happen if", "do this because". I have to admit, I am now scared to death to do my sublimation transfer because now it seems scary and I only have the exact # of shirts and exact # of transfers. ON a deadline. EEEKKKKKK.
Will a png always have a clear background?
mssblanks3 that’s what I wanna no too .
Yes it is that why it a png...ani white in a png or jpeg picture will be a clear background too
@@thememers_dude thank you!
No. Being a PNG file doesn’t mean it will always have a transparent background. You can save a PNG file with a white background. It just depends on how the file itself was made and exported. But as long as the person who created the file made sure there was no white background before saving it, then it should have a transparent background.
Does dye sublimation leave a thick coating like laser or heat transfers or does it actually dye the shirt, thanks!
Charles Robertson it’s smooth with the shirt. You don’t feel anything at all.
They might help!
okay love the video. Debbie I have so what pro. I haven't done anything with it yet .but I don't have a Silhouette. is the Silhouette expensive ?.
Awesome!
What heat do you have? Can you share the link to buy it?
It's a ePhotoInc 16x24" press I got on ebay, but I wouldn't recommend it. I had to make some adjustments to make it work and the heat is off and inconsistent.
What do you think about the Cricut Easy Press?
I do 400° for 60 seconds on my shirts, but if your easypress is one of the models that can reach that high I’ve heard some people have been able to use them ok for sublimation.
@@victoriadeyot9321 I've never used one so I can't say much about them. I think I've heard that not all will reach 400 degrees which is needed for sublimation, so you will want to check on your specific model.
@@DebbieDoesDesign 400 degrees or fahrenheit?
Easy press does 400 f only :-(
Hello, I was wondering how I can transfer or convert an image with a white background to clear background(as the image shown on this video). Hope you can help!
vanesmiles55 I use photoshop to remove white backgrounds from designs that need it, but as long as the white background is an actual white background, you don’t need to worry about it. It won’t print the white so it won’t show up when you press it anyway.
Debbie Does Design thank you so much!! You’re the best!
vanesmiles55 you’re welcome!
is this epson wf 7720 a sublimation printer?
SEY IT it’s a regular Inkjet printer I installed refillable cartridges using sublimation ink into.
@@DebbieDoesDesign do you use the CISS system or just refill the cartridges I got the 7720 still have not used it want to see which ink is best before I convert it
Irene magee i use refillable cartridges. I started with a CISS and it was super fussy. The cartridges are much easier to deal with.
Can you send a pic of the spray you use?
Loved your video... but I went to Jiffy to order the shirts and they only ship to Ontario and I live in BC After spending 1 hour picking all the shirts I want then go to checkout and then they say sorry we only ship to Ontario.
Oh no, I’m sorry!

Will teflon sheets work in place of the butcher paper?
Alyssa Vendegna since the main purpose of the butcher paper is to protect your press from ink you really want to be able to use something you can throw away after using it. You would have to wipe down the Teflon and hope you got it all to avoid transferring ink to your next item. I’ve also heard Teflon can hold in moisture and mess with the ink although I’ve used Teflon before when I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t notice any problems.
Im starting my own tshirt business and this video was my inspiration! I ordered everything on your list however i have a few questions! Please reach out to me!

The only problem with Cosmos Ink is they never seem to be in stock. Doesn't look like a very reliable solution. Any other recommendations on inks?
mike soos he always kept stock on hand for existing customers. He just limited new orders. But his next shipment is filling up a warehouse so stock won’t be an issue anymore.
is is ideal to get the sublimated paper while it is hot? and how about the washing instructions?
You can let the paper cool if you’d like. You just want to make sure it doesn’t move at all while it’s sitting there very hot, which is why I choose to pull it off right away. Less risk of it shifting and leaving a shadow.
Is there anyway to do this with an iron vs. a heat press??
Lauren Creech no, you really need a heat press. The time, temp, and pressure are vital and an iron won’t be consistent or large enough.
Great video! Thank you! Can I use a regular printer for this?I have an Hp Envy 4520.
You'd have to do a little research but I've only heard of people using Epson printer's converted for sublimation.
I was watching videos last night while turning my Epson over and saw a few on HP sublimation. Just know you can't change it back to regular ink If you change to sublimation
Though I was told you can't use anything but Epson
@@Tigeabee I've heard that too, but I haven't researched it enough to know for sure.

Hi, just getting started , wha size heat press is that?
Livonda Williams mine is a 16x24”
What T-shirts do you use? V-neck t-shirts? Looking for a cotton feel (not a stretchy type)
I use lots of different shirts depending on the project and the customer. I like Threadfast Blizzard tanks, Bella Marble Tees (but the women's run small so keep that in mind), Mens Vapor Apparel Tees, Gildan 420's. All good shirts with more a cotton feel.
How is the wash afterwards??
It washes great!
Is this a normal printer?
I have a drum printer & wondered if it mattered.
This is a normal Inkjet printer using refillable cartridges.
as a noob. DO ALL INKJET PRINTERS SUITABLE in DYE SUBLIMATION? i am planning to buy an epson expression xp900
From what I've read, as long as they sell the sublimation ink for it you can use it. The only difference between printers is the speed of printing and the quality of the print out. Work Force printers seem to be the best pic for a low end sublimation printer.
@@thatguyfromca as long as they sell the reset heads. noted
@@shelleybaznette53 Ahh, yay! I'm so happy to hear that!
I have a Epson 7110 printer. Can i just by the sublimation ink?
Yes, but once you do that, you can't use it as a regular printer.
Can you reuse the Sublimation paper with the print on it more then once or would have to print again on Sublimation paper with Sublimation ink
U cant use it twice
You can, but the second press will be faded.
Thank you so much 👍🏽very good explanation on what to do from start to finish
Can you use a regular printer with the sub paper? also what is the name of the board you cut the sub paper on? and what is the name of the item you use to cut the paper?
Nope. It has to be sublimation ink
You need to be closer to 60 seconds.
Also what kind of fabric shirts do you use? Thanks for sharing
Not Your Average Taper, sublimation needs a high percentile of polyester.
What Sublimation Printer and Ink do you use? Love the video!
I used an Epson WF-7720 at the time of this video. Now I use an Epson ET-8850. I still use Cosmos Ink.
Hi. Its t-shirt 50/50(50 cotton/50 poliester) or poliester 100%??? Thank!
Даниил Володин 50/50
A 50/50 shirt typically means 50% cotton and 50% polyester.
Do you possibly know if this will work with cricut design space? I use my iPad..I have watched a few videos joined your group lol..I just have questions I appreciate your time
Yes, you can print using Design Space.
Can you do sublimation and regular print jobs on the same printer??
My_Vizsla technically yes, you can switch the ink out as needed. But every time you do that you have to purge the old ink and it’s super wasteful and hard on the printer. It’s better to have 2 separate printers.
What are your thoughts..... should you test the printer with regular ink before setting it up for sublimation if it's brand new out of the box?
My_Vizsla yes, it’s good to set it up with the regular ink first just to make sure it’s working as it should before converting.
What type of transfer vinyl is that & do you have a link for it?
Matthew Gerber it’s not vinyl and there is no transfer vinyl. This is sublimation. It’s using only ink and paper.
