Thank you for watching. You're a beautiful person and a good person. If no one has told you that today, let me be the first person to tell you that. (embarrassing to leave out my tag line and affirming the most important part of this video - you!)
I have the X-H2. I’m a hybrid shooter that does not do fast panning shots or much slow motion, so the X-H2S was not a necessity. The 8K on the other hand was a bonus, as I can pan and zoom in post and still maintain excellent video quality. I often hear people say the 40mp does not make a difference, but as a portrait photographer that does retouching, it really does. I also have not ran across any limitations in focus speed or accuracy, other than the lens that’s being used. If I ever need the specs of the X-H2S, I’d happily get it as it is an amazing camera as well, but for now I couldn’t be more pleased with my X-H2. Nice video 👍🏽
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment! I'm glad you are pleased with the Fuji X-H2!
I ended up going with the XT5, the video is still pretty good!
Great choice! The XT5 is an excellent camera!! Enjoy using your new XT5!
I have the X-H2S and recently acquired the Nikon Z9 with the intention of selling the Fuji, but I just cannot do it! It’s such a powerhouse for the size. It’s a highly impressive camera and then you have those Fuji colours.
If I was to recommend a camera in the sub 3k price range, the X-H2S will be right at the top of the list, by some distance too.
It is impressive! I agree.
The xt5 for the form factor (with a small rig grip l bracket) and classic slr shooting experience. If I want a pasm dial camera for video I get an s5mark 2, a Sony or maybe an r6mark2.
I own X-T3 and X-E4, but I'm not quite happy with the Video shooting experience on X-T3 much. Actually I want to upgrade my X-T3 to X-T5 but after watching a lot of reviews, I've decided for X-H2S. It's the best upgrade I've made!! Very reliable Autofocus. Wonderful colors reproduction. I'm very happy.
I am glad you found it to your liking! It has been working out great for me!
Had no idea James Hetfield was into photography. The resemblance is uncanny. Bet you get that a lot. Jokes aside. Great comparison video. Helped big time
He also looks like Rob O'Neil, the guy that shot Bin Laden
Thanks! I get that occasionally. I’m a fan actually so it’s all good! Thanks for watching!
I want to look good while taking vidéo/photo so silver xt5 please
Absolutely!
Great video. Thank you.
I bought the XT5 and the XH2s. XT5 is my absolute favourite, but the XH2s is the better camera. Even for photography, it can do sports and fast paced action better, and of course it’s the better video camera. However, the XT5 is good enough as a b-cam for video when needed, but as a nice fun camera to walk around with, the XT5 is simply more fun to use.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment! Sometimes I wish I could own one of each!
@@WesKriesel Indeed! Lucky for me, both of them help pay the bills, otherwise it would have been a difficult choice to make!
@@danfarmer_photo that's great!!!
Thanks for the great comparison. I opted for 2 x X-H2's as I already have a couple of X-T4's and X-T3's. It took me a while to get used to the PASM system. But coming from Nikon from a while back, it came back to me. I wish the X-H2 had the C,S, and M switch as is on the T3's and T4's. Much more ergonomic.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment! I don't mind the PASM dial at all! What type of photography do you primarily do?
Wes, I've just come across your channel. Really appreciate all your observations, as I'm considering buying back into some Fuji model, having owned ones several times in the past. Just wanted to share some of my experience that might be relevant to some of the comments you make, and of help to other readers. When we consider the degree of sharpness (of fine details) produced by different cameras, just what sort of anti-aliasing filter the camera maker puts in front of each model's sensor is a really big determinant. Having shot both the Canon R and R5 (and owning many earlier Canon DSLRs and now the R7 and R6), Canon tends to opt for aliasing filters that can mute or rob the image of that fine detail. I found the R model especially soft/mushy on fine detail. In contrast, Camera brands that have some models with NO anti-aliasing filters can provide some great fine detail even with low megapixel sensors. For example, Nikon's 20 mp sensors used in their D500, D7500 and now the Z50 (last two of which I own) DON'T have an anti-aliasing filter in front of their sensors and offer refreshingly nice fine detail. Though my Canon R6 has a little more dynamic range than my Z50, the Z50 offers better fine detail - as long as i leave it at its full resolution and don't crop into the image for its final composition. Hope this is helpful.
Thanks for the info! I thought the R5 was very sharp compared to the R. What's your take on that? Was it just resolution I was observing?
@@WesKriesel Wes, I am sort of at a loss for what to make of the R5. I used both the 24-105 f/4 and my ef100 L macro IS. It was my first time shooting with a higher megapixel sensor camera. I expected to see more fine detail, but it didn’t wow me.
Detailed video. I am birding enthusiast, I need your suggestion for birding which camera is best between X T5 and X H2, since X H2S is over budget for me.
Interesting. I’d probably go with the xh2 for the grip/ergonomics
the X-H2/S do not have an inferior IBIS performance, they match the 7 stop IBIS of the X-T5.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment!
@@WesKriesel lol complete disregard for your utter mistake
I went with the xh2 and xh2s for my main workhorse cameras. Xh2s for video first with the xh2 as a b-cam, and the xh2 for photo first, with the xh2s as a secondary. Then I have the x100v as my personal carry around camera.
That's a lotta cameras bro
@@weouthere6902 3? I guess that’s more than 1 for sure. But I use two of them for work to make a living. And one as a personal carry around when I want to take photos in public but I don’t want to deal with heavy setups or make people nervous with the larger camera/lenses.
You’re set!!!
@@weouthere6902lol if three is alot. Don’t even want to tell you the amount I have.
This audio hurts...
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment!
Great vid thanks! Subbed.
I have the X-H2S but prefer the retro look of the T5. I shoot sports and indoor sports mostly so I need the autofocus and the low light capability. The large sensor creates files too big for my use as I find the images tend to be used on computer, etc and are rarely printed. That being said 26mp is more than enough for the largest print. (the larger the print the further back you have to stand so the MP count isn't as important. Billboards are actually pretty low resolution)
One thing you forgot to mention was that the X-H2S has the available battery grip whereas the T5 doesn't. I need the extra battery life as well as the balance when I use it on longer lenses like the Great White Sharp XF 200.
Great video and as you said, they are all outstanding cameras so you can't go wrong. Just get the right one for you
Good point on the battery grip, and the print size.
What an excellent video. Thanks!

Alright, the hook is set 🎣
But a question. Can any of these fully implement custom recipes on the video side without workarounds? I know we discussed it on the XE4, and there were compromises there.
I'd just like to fully roll my Kodachrome 64 sim into video 🌅
So, on the X-H2s, for example, I can make any of the 7 custom settings save a film recipe, then if I'm on C1, let's say set to Kodachrome 64, I just hit the dedicated record button and I'm shooting video with that film recipe.
The xh2s would be my 1st choice but it is a bit expensive. For a serious amateur what do you think about the xs20?
It's a pretty great camera. A used X-T4 is also a very good option, given you can easily find them lightly used for around $1000. It really just depends how much you need the faster autofocus and the additional video features found in the X-S20.
@@quantumfusion5957 If I stepped up from the xs20 I would probably go to the xt5. Thanks
It sounds like you've considered a good range of options and have a clear idea of what each model offers. Stepping up to the X-T5 could definitely be a rewarding choice if you're looking for advanced capabilities that go beyond what the X-S20 offers, without stretching to the higher price point of the X-H2S. The X-T5 is well-regarded for its performance and features, making it a solid investment for a serious amateur photographer. Whatever decision you make, it seems like you’re well-informed and on the right track. Happy shooting!
@@allenschneider1847 think about the LCD screen, videographers usually need fully articulated screen, photographers often hate fully articulated screen, for some it could be a deciding factor.
Bought my Xt5 a few months back and sold my Canon gear. The best thing I have ever done, especially with the colours and the silver camera, just looks majestic.
Great to hear!
Just started watching your video and in the very beginning of it.
I own and really like my XT3.
However I don’t feel that I need 40 megapixel.
For that reason I am looking at the X-H2S.
It's more expensive but I feel that it's worth it. Just my two cents!
lol isnt h2s is only 26mp? or is it a joke that i'm missing
My choice a GFX100S - I’d like to stand out from the crowd. Be curious to know what the May Summit will bring.
I had the GFX100s and it produces the most amazing images. What did you think of the summit?
@@WesKriesel rehashing old sensors with new processors does not get me that excited.
I wanted buffer and 40mp. That was that.
Yea, makes sense!
I agree with your analysis. I use my Nikon system for part-time professional work; events and low light dance performances. I just purchased the XT-5 for travel. It is a fine camera, but it has too many megapixels for many of Fuji's current lenses. This is a demanding camera with its high pixel density, but some of the Fuji and third party lenses work very well with the XT-5. I purchased the Tamron 17-70 2.8 (which is a good match, but not a great match for the XT-5), the surprisingly good tiny Sigma 18-50mm 2.8, and the Fuji 70-300mm. I will purchase the Fuji 16mm 2.8 to complete my travel kit. For professional work, the Fuji XH-2s would be a no-brainer with its stacked sensor (like my Nikon Z9), 26 megapixel sensor, blazing AF speed and readout, and excellent ergonomics. If I would be starting over today, I would be tempted to purchase two XH-2s bodies (at $2,500 apiece this is a good deal), the 16-50 2.8, 50-140 2.8, 90mm F/2, 56 F/1.2, and the brilliant Fuji 200 mm f/2 with the 1.4x TC.
helpful video, thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful
When it comes to dybamic range; which graph were ypu refering to?
wish i had enough for both xt5 [photos] & xh2s [video] 😅
Which one is better for weddings photography X-H2 or XH2s? Thanks
Probably XH2s is better, because it has better AF in low light. How much AF is better in low light? I need 2 bodies. Which combo is better 2 x X-H2s or XH2s + X-H2? Thanks
I am Canon shooter. I have R6. But Fujifilm has better colours and simulations....
Great questions. I probably would opt for the two X-H2s bodies. Lenses play a big role too! I have the new Fuji 56mm and while it's a great portrait lens, it's a bit slow to focus did events like weddings. The 50-140 would be essential, to me, for weddings.
I am a wedding photographer with xh2s
Try putting the new 23mm and the 50-140 you will not regret
50-140 is great!
I was comparing H2 & T5 only as I basically only do photos in a leisure, as I am trying to figure out where should I move on from a Canon 5D3 into what kind of mirrorless world. The insight on the high shutter speed of HS2 for low Fstops in daylight is really great, and I did not know about the HDR performance between H2 vs HS2 too. Thanks mate
Did you make the move? If so, did you use your canon glass to start? I am going through the same question right now. 5dMIII to FUji...
I am an X-T4 owner, since it came out. Thinking to buy a second FUJI body now, so thank you indeed for sharing your opinion. I am very close to deciding in favor of X-H2s.
Let me know what you decide! I love using the X-H2s!
Thanks for this review man. I’m now sold on getting the X-H2S.
That's awesome to hear! Did you end up pulling the trigger on the X-H2S? I’m sure you’re going to enjoy its features. Let me know how it works out for you!
@@WesKriesel I do have several Fujifilm cameras and in terms of performance, quality and AF performance, this is my favorite camera hands down.
I recently also got the chance to get my hands on a X-E4 for easy portable fun shooting. I was surprised how well this camera performs despite its small form-factor. I still love my X-T cameras, but the a X-E4 stays in my pocket wherever I go and the X-H2S will remain my working horse for video and capturing landscapes, low-light scenes or anything that requires serious afterthought.
Timely video. About to buy a new Fuji body and trying to decide on XT5, XH2S, and also XS20. Appreciate XS20 is a completely different body. Wasn’t interested in the XH2S until the amazing Black Friday deals. £300 reduction, free battery grip and then £300 Cashback. Makes it only £300 more than the XT5. Will be looking tomorrow.
It sounds like you found some fantastic Black Friday deals a few months back! The discounts and extras must have made the X-H2S quite tempting. With the price difference being so small after those offers, I hope the choice worked out well for you. If you went ahead with it, I’d love to hear how the camera is suiting your needs.
@@WesKriesel I bought the X-S20 in the end.
@@samson40a I love it - we just bought 2 for work. How are you liking it?
I own the Fujifilm X-H2s. I've been a pro photographer my whole life, 66 years. I would not trade this camera for any other camera in the world. I had a Fujifilm XT4 and Canon R7, and sold them both, after testing the 3 in open shade, sun light, and low light. Fujifilm X-H2s was the best of all in all situations. I like it so much; I bought a second one.
X-H2s is a great camera! Way underrated!
I don’t understand the fetish with tactile dials, is it childhood trauma or what. Those Fuji bodies have worse ergonomics of all cameras ever made
Haha, you might be onto something! Maybe it’s nostalgia, or perhaps we just miss twiddling the dials on old radios as kids. Fuji’s dials do give you that tactile satisfaction, though they’re definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. To each their own! 😄
I like them, I can quickly dial what I want, I can quickly set ISO, shutter, aperture. No, it’s fetish, it is practicality and quick access specially if you shoot in the manual mode. I don’t see much problem with Fuji ergonomic either, Nikon ZF has lot worse ergonomics than XH2 or XT5.
If PASM is the way to go, get a Sony, They are better performing computers!!! But if you need to enjoy shooting photos get a fujifilm, a proper fuji like the XT or X pro series 😎
so biased lmfao
K
Very good video, thanks. Every time a watch a new video I decide on a different camera. First I wanted the X T5, then the X H2, now I want the X H2s. I think I should stop watching videos at this point. Just seeing if I can find one convincing me to get the cheaper X S20. LOL.
Glad you liked the video! It's easy to get caught up in all the options. The right camera is all about what fits your needs and budget best. Good luck choosing, and feel free to ask if you have more questions!
